After looking around on the forums, I realized that editing the GUI of KotOR (and possibly TSL) is quite painful and most people use K-GFF (very great tool, but not visual). I then found xoreos-tools (part of xoreos - a very cool open source project). So this weekend, I started up making my own version of a tool which should help a lot with the process of laying out things nicely. The project is not fully complete, but it is ready for some beta testing! A few features so far - Visual display of all images (I think) + bounding boxes - Supports drag + drop / resize - Nested view for only what you care about (cleaner than K-GFF) - Cross-platform - works on linux / windows / mac (with caveats) - Light / Dark Mode for all of you who look at too many bright things (like I do) Getting Started Guide: https://github.com/amcolash/kotor-gui-editor/blob/master/README.md Release Page: https://github.com/amcolash/kotor-gui-editor/releases Source Code: https://github.com/amcolash/kotor-gui-editor Changelog 0.0.4 (9/17/2020): First Public Release

Thank you all for the kind words! I'm glad you like these. I have since finished Yavin 4 and I'm really happy with the result: It's slightly less of a jungle than what we see in the movies so that it blends better with the modules usd in the mod. But I think that works really well too, so I'm fine with it. Now onto the last completely new skybox I want to create: Ord Mantell

Nope. No, it isn't. I switched the format of my sheet that keeps track of all the things I do and that new one doesn't lend itself to be such a presentation.

    Version 1.0.0

    15,980 downloads

This mod replaces the 2D billboard holograms used in the Twisted Rancor Trio puzzle in the Taris Lower City Apartments with full 3D holograms, coloured blue like in the movies (and TSL). Also fixes some missing sound effects that were intended to play when activating each hologram. You may also be interested in my Movie-Style Rakatan Holograms and Movie-Style Holograms for Endgame Cutscenes mods. Changes: Replaces Bith 2D sprite with four separate animated 3D Bith models, each with a different instrument Replaces singer 2D sprite with animated 3D model (two different anims) with semi-custom texture to look like the original Adds emitter VFX Only switch emitter light on when activated instead of always on Repairs broken activation sound effects Known Issues: Because meshes do not self-occlude, there are some artefacts when viewing from certain angles. Requires a save before entering the Taris Lower City Apartments (East) for the first time due to GIT changes. Acknowledgements: Thanks to @bead-v for KOTORMax and MDLEdit Thanks to @ndix UR for TGA2TPC Thanks to @CarthOnasty for the original idea, which I shamelessly stole (I did wait 2 years though)

Does someone have a fix for this:

    I think it should be "PLC_SithFlag" :)

Even if it's rapidly decaying, there would still be normal street traffic of people driving to work or something. But I will add far less traffic than on Coruscant or Nar Shaddaa the latter of which you can see in this video btw:

There is no irradiated skybox in the original M4-78 but I changed the models so that there is now. And yes, it will change once the radiation is cleared. Sure thing. Here's an example. You can also see some more screenshots in other posts I made over the last months or so. As to the questions of why I'm not releasing K1 yet. There's no specific reason for why I want to release them simultaneously, but that's the route I want to go. One reason is that I still need to make screenshots and stuff like that that will take some time and I'd rather focus on getting all skyboxes done first before I go down this rabbithole so that I can then make all screenshots for both games at the same time. Depending on how long finishing TSL takes I might decide to release K1 earlier but not before I've finished the add-ons like BOS:SR and I haven't even started those. With the exception of Taris that I mentioned before, they shouldn't take too long though. I'll keep you guys posted. We'll see how it goes. Rest assured though, it won't be long now (at least compared to the 3+ years this project has been in the work now... )

Thanks for the reply guys. Upon checking the skybox again after a good night of sleep I agree with you. The static smoke doesn't work. However, I found a way to get animated smoke instead: Particles Below you can see a video demonstration with the vanilla particle smoke in the foreground and both the old static smoke on the skybox in the background and the new animated background smoke. I'll tweak the particle settings some more and remove the static smoke of course but I think this is already going in a very nice direction. You can also see the changed fog color that blends much better with the skybox now (Look for that round building in the middle of the screen and compare it to the screenshot in my last post.)

And exactly one month later, Kashyyk is finally done. If I had not decided to add some fancy shenanigans that would've taken much shorter but I like the result even though you can't really see much of the skybox. And here's the entrance to the Wookiee village that you can actually see now (that's what was taking so long to get right). And finally, the usual render of just the skybox: Not sure what I'll work on next. The only big one still missing is Dxun and then there are some other skyboxes that still need little tweaks but I'm getting very close to actually finishing the vanilla skyboxes

Four months later and I finally finished the Nar Shaddaa buildings: Next up is getting them into Terragen to create the cityscape. I might add some floating building like the casino from SWTOR further down the line but for now these five should suffice for my skybox needs.

And another skybox is done (well, actually two). As I said before it's the Unknown World: That screenshot is actually a little older though. I've since tweaked the colors a little to reduce that horrible sun glare. Apart from that the skybox is almost exactly the same as in V1. The only difference is the moon texture which I replaced with a texture from here so that it's no longer our moon you see in this alien sky. And as always, there's also two renders and unlike my other renders, I moved the camera quite a bit for these to get a more interesting foreground. But since those islands are usually only seen in the very far distance they're of course not that great looking. Better than no foreground though But as I said in the beginning, there's another skybox and that's the sunset version of the Unknown World used in the revelation and DS ending cutscenes. That one uses the same terrain of course but I remade the sky from scratch to get closer to its vanilla look. For comparison here's the very unnatural looking V1 of that skybox. The new one is just waaaay better: It's still a little cheated and not entirely realistic but it helps setting the tone of those two scenes. I even had a version with a sky that was much more red just like the vanilla sky but that was just too unrealistic for my taste. Anyway, here's the corresponding render: Those two were close to the last vanilla skyboxes for K1. The only one left now is Kashyyyk and some tweaks to Tatooine and Manaan. And afterwards there are of course still the mod skyboxes to do. TSL is also coming along very nicely with only two vanilla planets remaining, namely Nar Shaddaa and Dxun. I started working on some building models for Nar Shaddaa and I have to say that this is probably the least fun thing I've done for these skyboxes yet... 😅 But we'll see how it goes. I'll keep you updated.

This turned out better than I expected: The video shows a test for an animated Malachor skybox and surprisingly it actually looks good. What you see are basically three layers: A skybox that has only terrain. A second skybox that shows the closest clouds including the "ceiling" and rotates around its axis. And a cylinder that has the distant clouds and rotates slower than the close clouds. And the video also shows my new lightning animation. The skybox is still not done though. I want to have more cloud contrast (all attempts for that were unsuccessful so far) which should also help with distinguishing the two cloud layers, the terrain color is not quite right and it needs to be lowered a bit as well. And then there are the lightning strikes coming directly from mountains that I need to move somewhere else. Oh and there's a rendering error where part of the terrain is cut off for some reason. Also not quite sure about the animation speed. I might have to make that faster. I might work on another skybox first though just to get a fresh perspective on Malachor afterwards.
