I have serious issues with Apeiron in general, especially the progress of its development over the past three years and its online "presence," if you like. I think it's only fair for me to disclose that bias first thing. With that made clear, though, I have a deep distaste for the way the project has thus far seemingly been managed, and absolutely with how it's been conveyed to the fanbase at large, which I believe I would still have even without this accumulated bias. You say that the project lead is the one to speak to about these issues, but you are the first Apeiron volunteer that I have ever communicated with on any forum (to my knowledge, at any rate). I was on the subreddit the day that Apeiron was announced, and I still see every thread that passes through the sub as part and parcel of being a mod. Every Apeiron topic ever posted has only had fans in it to speak on the team's behalf, and the overwhelming majority of those fans have genuinely and innocently pushed the narrative that Apeiron is a mod which is free from C&D threat from any rights-holder. They've believed what you've said, and it's all so much empty words. I don't hold you to blame for this personally, or hold any ill-will towards you or even the idea of KOTOR being remade. My problems are twofold: a complete lack of communication on any channels which aren't dominated by Apeiron fans, and what is--in my view--the deliberate and continued misinformation that Apeiron will be legally treated as a mod. In defense of your team, I should have stepped forward with these issues myself a long time ago, but in my own defense I had (and still have) zero faith that the project will ever see the light of day, in all honesty. With that said, I still find the lack of communication outside of Apeiron-dominated channels disturbing, and the misinformation downright distasteful. Now that it seems that at least some elements of your team are attempting to be more communicative with other parts of the community, I think it would be to both of our benefits if these issues were addressed. I've made unpleasant claims about the Apeiron team's work, including about its overall competency to bring the project to fruition. Many have taken this to be unreasonable hostility on my part, but having been involved with indie development in the past, what I've seen thus far seems to me simply to be a reflection of the same lack of available volunteers that laid my own project to waste. Contrary to those who assume I'm simply hostile for the sake of being hostile, however, I would love to be proven wrong; I have simply never been put in the position of being able to ask questions of a developer before without going out of my way. I don't know how to contact your director, so if you could pass on to him my sincere hope that he would consider immediately removing the mod portion of the FAQ on your website, it would immediately alleviate many of my concerns about how Apeiron has portrayed itself thus far. If you would be further willing to request that he get in touch with me here or on reddit, I would love to coordinate an AMA with your team and the subreddit as a whole. Much of the trouble that exists thus far, I feel, stems from the perception that your team is uncommunicative and intentionally misleading your fans; if both of these misconceptions could be clarified through engagement, it would go a long way indeed toward engaging the remainder of the community with the project. Finally, because most of this post has been presumptuous on my part and I'm well-aware of it, I do want to say again that I don't wish you or any member of your team any ill will. If I'm being entirely honest I still have serious questions about the project, your team's capabilities, etc., but that's why I want to open a dialogue regarding it. I have been incredibly hostile toward the project in the past, but, again, I would love to be proven wrong and to find out this has all been a large misunderstanding on my part. If you all are willing to have an open dialogue, I'm very willing to change my views.

It's nice to see one member of the team trying to address these persistent issues as no one else has even tried to. I have been blocked of off streams in the past questioning them about some of these details. I do feel that the website needs to be updated though. The amount of people claiming the project to be 100% legal or the people that say lucasarts gave them permission (even though lucasarts no longer exists 🤣) is ridiculous. I for one think sniggs idea is great and that your team should at the bare minimum have some dialogue with the fans of Kotor. Obviously this is not your fault @Minimpoun as you are new to the team. But the underlying issues are still present

Hello! I am probably one of the very few in the world that is heavily bothered by what happens in the tar_m09aa and that was reported in the past (including here on Deadlystream) but never investigated nor fixed. I did try to investigate the matter myself at the best of my abilities and I have made some progress but couldn't proceed any further. What I have found out so far is the following: - this bug happens IF the player enters the area with at least one companion AND if it is the player (and not a companion) entering the area - this bug can be removed by removing six creatures (all war droids - the weapon on the floor is in fact what they use) from the .git file of that area: Struct Index 11, 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 So rather than a Mod request, this is a request for assistance in this matter. Thanks for the attention.

Fantastic! Many thanks for the efficient-yet-rather-effective tutorial DarthParametric! I'm in progress on practicing this information now. I will attach the said tutorial in the first post to have the potential reader an easier access to its knowledge. Again, thanks! And very much appreciated. ____________________________________________ Anyways, I just found something that is quite "important" while ago; I surfed through the game files with the KotOR Tool and found a cubemap which labeled "CM_eh", and then leads me to assuming that it was linked to the Ebon Hawk's specularity. And yes it is; I opened the file using PS and there are E-Hawk's reflections init. So, I fiddled around with the vanilla EH's textures and have them all implemented with the said cubemap- assigning vanilla bump-map to the linked textures and later having this results: This is the entrance/exit passage of the Ebon Hawk. I haven't checked the bump-map inside this room model so as we can see there are no bump-map applied there; but more-or-less, this how the room looks with the "CM_eh" applied to the textures: This is the Hawk's dorm, and bump-map feature has been checked for this room. This one of the Hawk's alley'; no bump-map applied but "CM_eh" has been utilised on them textures. This is the intersection near the engine-room. The bump-map and "CM_eh" has been applied in this room model. This is the Swoop's room; I ended-up changing the alpha on the bike with the standard reflection because the vanilla alpha is not really effective, I mean; I am certain that BioWare wanted to give the impression that the Swoop was having an incident before, looks from the reflection it gave. It produces an inside-bump-and-dents-like reflection but I don't know, maybe the execution could be nicer, I think. This is the cabin whom Juhani used to chill. No bump-map applied yet in that room. This is the cockpit. Bump-map applied. This is too from the cockpit but from another point-of-view. This is not really vanilla because as we can see there are Sith Holocron's "KOTOR2 More Subtle Animated Ebon Hawk Monitors (still not including Galaxy Map)" and Fallen Guardian's "Ebon Hawk Texture Enhancement" computer panel featured there. Must haves! And this is the Hawk's center room. Bump-map applied. Edit: ndix UR's "Ebon Hawk K1 Fixes" are featured in the screenshots. ____________________________________________ To tell the truth, the primary motivation of this research was because of this screenshot of Ebon Hawk's interior from one of Apeiron's tweet while ago. I know, and it was obvious; different engine means different results. And even if with the same engine but with the wrong application of feature could leads to different results too. I only kind of curious about how optimal is this [IIRC] Odyssey Engine could be? Many thanks for taking your time here. Hope this finding kind of helps.

I can't take any credit for it. You were the one that identified the war droids being the issue. It was simple deduction from that point. I doubt I would have ever leapt to that conclusion myself.

I'm not sure why you get variable results with player vs party members. That is extremely weird. But leaving that aside, the problem seems to be Bioware erroneously equipping a "proper" repeating blaster rifle on one war droid UTC rather than the null version they should have used. The reason I mentioned the pistol is because the probe droid has a Zabrak blaster pistol equipped instead of a null weapon. I assumed that would lead to the same problem, but seemingly not. If you can identify other modules where it occurs a mod that fixes it can be put together.

I am glad to report that your fix seems to have remedied the problem, DarthParametric! I am very thankful for the assistance although I cannot really understand how this issue triggered only under some specific conditions. It may be very likely that other modules have the same kind of problem (I remember Tatooine, docking area, for instance and someone reported Davik's estate in Taris). I guess every module with war droids is at risk. I will keep an eye out for this under my playthrough. Said that, there was nothing on the floor. No rifle and no pistol.

War droids have integrated weapon models. I wonder if that is part of the problem. They possibly lack weapon hooks for the guns to attach to? I thought there were null weapons (stats but no models) for exactly this reason. Edit: Here, try this @Salk https://www.darthparametric.com/files/kotor/k1/[K1]_Taris_Sith_Base_Stray_Blaster_Cleanup.7z You'll want to load from a save prior to entering.

The numbering is only for the folder names, not the save files themselves, so it should be possible to merge them with appropriate renaming. Although I'm not sure how feasible it would be to do in practice with a significant number of saves. You'd want to automate the process if you had more than a handful of saves, but trying to correctly increment the numbers seems like it would be difficult.

Here you go. Thanks to @bead-v figuring out the cause, this should solve your crash problems with mesh alpha. VP_Ajunta_Pall_Alpha_Crash_Fix.7z

sounds.bif is only 185 MB and doesn't even include most of the game's audio. If this is all your installer does, your situation is more like saying "there is no way for us to stop someone from pirating 5% of the game after we give them the other 95%". I understand you're in a delicate position. As you say you can't add DRM unless know what to tell it to check for, and you'd have to crack the game to do that. On top of that, the GOG.com version doesn't have any DRM regardless. But 5% of the game, which is very easy to extract, does not amount to the whole game. This may be pedantic, but I hope you can understand why a lot of people are skeptical at your team's insistence that this is a mod when it runs on a different EXE and doesn't require the game to run.

Wait. You've just now started working on Apeiron? My apologies I was unaware you just inherited the task of running the project. My dissent is more or less directed at the fine individual who insists on making the many promises and pushing the hype to its very limits for literally years, and then has the gall to say that they don't care they've been misleading everyone in their site's statement (which has been altered several times I might add) I've worked on a few projects myself, so I can kind of see how working on this can be fun and rewarding, but bear in mind that Apeiron has its own share of history, and clearing up what its actual goal and structure is would at least be a start.

Yeah, I'm the Lead Programmer on the project. Heh, yeah I can see why you'd think that. I work full-time at a different studio creating games for a living, I have little time to write code for Apeiron, which is one of the reasons we don't show gameplay often. I have been prototyping our new swoop racing mechanics though, can be found here. The base movement mechanics are done as well as some other gameplay features. Lately, I've been working on recreating the UI and inventory system. Here is a snippet from the inventory design document to give you an idea as to what it'll look like. Truth be told, I'd post a lot more gameplay related stuff; however a lot of the cool things about gameplay mechanics are hidden in the implementation and are often not cool to the average viewer. People prefer to see art assets than a editor extension I wrote to make renaming assets easier for designers lmao I honestly don't even remember what is on the website. The team size at the time of writing is 9 heads. As far as what kind of people are on the team: professionals. Taylor (the game director) is very strict about who he lets on the team, everyone working on Apeiron are either industry professionals or are extremely talented students that are looking to go into the game dev profession. There is currently only two programmers on the team, and the second doesn't do much because he recently had a kid. I do as much as I can; however no one on the team works on Apeiron full-time. We all do this as a passion project in our free time. With that said, that doesn't mean we treat this like a mod. We all take this very seriously as if it was our full-time job. The way this team is run isn't much different than my day job, we take it seriously, but at the same time everyone knows we're just doing it for fun. Taylor often posts updates about the project on his Twitter, and I will post things on mine every now and then.

It will warn you about that and select the offending object so you know where it is. It's actually pretty handy.

I'll start with this - I do not feel the film is that bad. Granted, I tend to not look at anything with a pretense of "If it does not do what I want, it is bad". I'm technically not so fond of how Infinity War played out, but I'm not going to suggest I think the film is flawed solely because of my opinion. Though I tend to have more, malleable opinions, and not stick to the first thing I think of, or the first reaction I have to something in fiction. I have seen quite a few videos on how apparently bad the film is, and while I can agree with some points, others I find seem to be ones proliferated by those who where, well, angry after seeing it, and those viewpoints have stuck, even if some, at least in my own opinion, are somewhat unwarranted. So I'll just comment on a few points at random. "Rey as a Mary Sue" I cannot entirely disagree with this. However, I'm thinking about the idea of her progression not being the same as that of Luke. Why must she do the exact same things? Be taught exactly how he was, and perhaps retain the same flaws? Granted, her progression is quick, but how much of the force does she really use? A mind trick in the first film(on a FO trooper no less, which may or may not be as weak-minded as the original Stormtroopers were), a few instances between films of pulling things, and...being somewhat proficient with the lightsaber? Also, note that the first two, I think, are only things she does...AFTER Kylo has done it in front of her. Perhaps I am mistaken, but I think that is true, anyway. As for the lightsaber...maybe it could have used scene where she briefly notes the lack of weight, in comparison to her staff, but...she knows how to use the staff, so she has some basic comprehension in using melee combat at least. "Rey's family" The fact that is is apparently a problem, meaning the answer given, is odd. If only because it seems people believe that her story should hinge on that of someone else, and she cannot, at all, and should not, stand on her own. Revan was like that too, and while I am unsure of what TOR did for his backstory, the games(i.e KotOR itself) say nothing. Was that unsatisfying? Yes, KotOR is an RPG, and it might be better if you can think for yourself as to what Revan's backstory is, but I'm not seeing too much of a difference for Rey. "Luke would not do that!"(I'm sure the meaning of this is obvious) Oh, so he is on a pedestal now? He can't make a mistake? He shouldn't make a mistake? Even one so momentary, so quick, and soon after he does not do what he intended. But the damage is done, and it was not even because he acted. It is because he had a moment of weakness, and it cost him. "Fuel" I mention this mostly due to the CinemaSins video. But obviously this is not the first time such a thing has been mentioned and I'm sure there are scenes of ships/fighters/etc being refueled. I wonder if people would have the same reaction to the suggestion of blasters running out of ammo? Rare yes, but not unheard of. "Snoke" I can say this might have been not too thought out. But, what exactly would you want him to say? Have him tell his entire backstory? Possibly not. More than this, it is possible that he was just a nobody in the right place. How many games, books, movies, etc, have characters exactly like that? "Kylo's Misdirection" I'm not sure of this one being cited as an issue. But if it is...he does something I'd expect to see in TSL. He is going to "strike down his enemy"...is Snoke entirely sure he means Rey? Maybe this is likely 100% obvious, though some could still question as to why Snoke didn't realize what was going on. Sure, that might be a bit of a flaw, but how many Sith(and Jedi) are known for hubris?
