TSL ORIGINS: Harbinger Overhaul 1.0.1

About This File

Attention: Currently NOT compatible with Kotor 2 Steam Version.

due to the total lack of dirt overlay it looks unrealistically shiny - i try to find a fix asap.

Unlike its predecessor, the Complete Overhaul for K1, the purpose of this texture mod is to preserve the original look of the game,
while using different texturing techniques to give the old game engine a modern look, emulating shine & vector based animations from the Mass Effect series.

Installation:

is simple, just:

1. Download XnView
2. Extract Part1 into the TSL Override directory
3. Create a new folder on your Desktop
4. Extract the contents of Part 2 into that new folder.

5. double-click on one of the tgas
6. click on file-> Browse
7. select all Strg+A then left click batch processing
8. select output folder TSL\Override
select format TGA, Override file
9. hit "Go".

Enjoy!

I just wanted to say that this is an awesome mod! Very well done as always! I personally am not too fond of the mass effect cube map shine on the floor; I don't feel that it fits. But other than that, this is great!

What files make the cube map shine on the floor? So far I've only found CM_ME3.tga and removing that file causes transparency and you can see Peragus station and out into space.

Does it look like here:

then its definitely a bug. Which version of TSL do you use? Steam?

It's very pretty, but... well, it seems a bit too shiny and well-kept for the deteriorating, ruptured Republic in the setting.

Just my opinion.

I changed the CM_ME3.tga to a blank, fully black texture and that changed the floor to the same texture it had when I removed the CM and it also fixed the transparency I experienced.

@Squall Lionhart:

good question. I personally dont have any Steam version of the game, so idk..

Actually i was a bit shocked when i heard of that bug, since it looked good in both of my copies, the Retail & the Collection edition.

I hope the other that the Steam version doesnt have more of these "hidden surprises" though...

I'm going to have to include this in my next playthrough. It's a well done piece of work.

To anyone having the floor bug, remove the file HAR_Fl01from your override folder. There are other files in the mod causing all of the really shiny reflections, but that's the main one for the floor. Looks a lot better without it.

I'm starting to really dislike the Steam version of this game now.

I'm not using any version from Steam and I have the same problem with the floor, even with the walls but no so much. Removing from the Override folder the 'HAR_Fl01.txi'  as says Mephiles550, it helps, there is a significative difference, but still too much shining surfaces and the floor still seems an ice skating track.

Aside, the rest of the work with the Harbinger is a very good work but the shiny floor diminishes the set. IMO.

Hey, I love the concept of this - however I'm running into an issue with the installation instructions.  I've downloaded XnView, however what I'm getting when I double click the file is nothing like you're describing.  For starters, it immediately switches the program to Pixillion Image Converter; which does not have a batch processing option as far as I can tell.  All of the other buttons are slightly off from your wording, but I imagine they're what you meant (as in, there's a "Convert" button, instead of "Go"; and "File => Add File" instead of "File => Browse") but I'm not 100% sure if that means I'm using the wrong program or not.  Forcing the files to load in XnView, instead of Pixillion, gives me a *completely* different layout that I can not make heads or tails of.  I imagine at one time XnView was as straightforward as you suggest, but I'm not sure which version number you're using if that's the case.

I'm somewhat tempted to just put the files, unedited, into the Override folder and hope for the best.  Any advice?  😕

I use Steam and I solved the Problem with the shiny floor

I took the file  JTL_tr02.tga from the Mod: TSL ORIGINS - Telos Overhaul 1.1.2     and renamed it to HAR_Fl01.tga

Because they both look very similar it isn't that much of a difference and it isn't as shiny

It looks very cool. Problem solved👍

IMPORTANT NOTE:

For XnView 2.50 (AKA XnView Classic) users, there's no "Viewer" option in the File menu, so the process is different. Here are the steps to follow in that version

1. Open XnView (not necessarily opening one of the .tga files)

2. Go to the Tools menu, and from there click directly on Batch Processing

3. Click Add, navigate to the "Harbinger Part 2 - XnView" directory, select all files in said directory, add them with the Add button, and click OK.

4. Set the output folder to [TSL Directory]\Override, set the output filetype to .tga, and set "Overwrite files" to either "Ask" or "Replace"

5. Click on Go

Edit: And now a question. Both this and your own Telos reskin use CM_Baremetal.txi

Should this be overwritten, or should it be skipped?

From Reddit's /r/Kotor sub TSL Mod Guide:
at the very end, it reads:

IMPORTANT -- FINAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

As a final step you will need to go into your game's override directory, locate, and delete two files, if they're present: "CM_baremetal.tga" and "CM_baremetal.txi".

It won't let me link it, but the guides should be pinned up top in the subreddit. These mods are in the list, though not currently suggested due to aesthetic divergence. Those files may be buggy with the game in general and cause incompatibilities.
