Domino5555 119 Posted January 2, 2018 Recently, I bought the original KOTOR to play for my Xbox One, and while it is a masterpiece even without mods, I am curious how to install the famous mod Brotherhood of Shadow: Solomon's Revenge onto my Xbox One. UnusualCharacters 105 Posted January 3, 2018 As far as I am aware, modding the games is not possible on the Xbox One platform, or any KotOR Xbox release for that matter. In order to enjoy mods, you'll have to acquire a PC copy of the game.
djh269 264 Posted January 8, 2018 You can play Kotor on the Xbox One? I'm so getting one now haha. Is it remastered?
Domino5555 119 Posted January 8, 2018 No, it's just backwards compatible.
N-DReW25 1,319 Posted January 8, 2018 No, it's just backwards compatible. isn't the graphics improved on it to nearly similar to PC graphics? I'd say modding is possible but extremely limited, from what I remember from old threads HD texture crash the game, mdx/mdl files crash the game etc. Mods like BOSSR simply would not work on it. Would it be theoretically be possible to downgrade the graphics of that mod?
VarsityPuppet 1,085 Posted January 8, 2018 Would it be theoretically be possible to downgrade the graphics of that mod? Downgrading might ultimately be irrelevant. My running theory for crashes on the XBOX had to do with memory issues. Basically, you're trying to load up a giant texture that would fill up the XBOX's entire ram. As for mdl/mdx files, the pc models are not compatible with the xbox, they will always cause a crash. However, with mdledit, there may be a way to export xbox mdls, so maybe there is hope. Either way, there is just not a lot of demand for it
Domino5555 119 Posted January 8, 2018 Yeah, it's likely not worth the effort.
Mephiles550 227 Posted January 9, 2018 Here’s the footage if anyone is curious. It's not the PC version, it's a completely remastered version of the Xbox port. It's easy to tell not just cause of the texture/model quality, but it also has the same exclusive changes to the Xbox (like the Jedi Masters all wearing blue). That's the important thing here, we're dealing with Xbox rules, not a PC.Even if you could get the mod to work, you'd still be dealing with the limitations of the Xbox version that were ported to Xbox One X. That'd mean you'd have to rescale all textures, edit all of the modules, basically make everything small enough to be accepted by the Xbox without showing up as garbled anomalies or a game crash. It wouldn't be worth the effort, let alone possible on an Xbox One because every BC game is basically run on an emulator designed specifically for that game to ensure perfect optimization. It is possible to mod the original Xbox version of Kotor, but you're very, VERY limited with what you can do.The mobile port is actually the PC version. That's why you can see so many people play modded versions of Kotor on mobile devices. I've seen plenty of videos showing off BOS: SR with that. bead-v 251 Posted January 10, 2018 If I'm not mistaken, it should be possible to batch convert model files to the Xbox format with mdledit. If besides that you know how to install it properly on the Xbox one, and if VP is right about the reason for the crashes with texture files, then doing it might not take that much effort and could actually be worth a shot. Hello bead-v. I like to ask you a question. So if I acquire all the models from that mod and convert them myself, should I click the format box from PC to Xbox, convert them to ascii first, and then batch convert them to binary xbox model or just batch convert the original PC model to binary xbox model and that's it?
