It seems that Shem had some personal edits to clothing that I was very fond of and they were never uploaded but showcased in some of their YouTube videos. Beyond being unsatisfied by some of the other scout reskins, this inspired me to create my own based on Shem's personal reskin/edits. I've decided to upload it for others who like me, are looking for something similar to his edits or are interested in switching up the OG scout clothing colors. Installation Instructions: Drag and drop .tga files into override. Overwrite when prompted. Description: A tiny mod for KotOR 1 that gives the player the option to avoid becoming a Jedi and remain a Soldier, Scout, or Scoundrel for the entire game. It adds two new replies towards the end of the second conversation with the Jedi Council. As you can see from the screenshot, the new replies start with "[Refuse Jedi Training]", so there should be no confusion as to what they do or which ones they are. If you choose not to be a Jedi, that conversation leads directly into the "corruption in the grove" quest, skipping over several parts of the Jedi training quest. Scripts are included to enable cross-classing as a non-Jedi. So, for example, a Scout can cross-class as a Soldier, etc. The option to cross-class as a non-Jedi is given through subtitles at the end of that second conversation with the Council. To avoid cross-classing as a non-Jedi, simply choose "No" when asked if you want to cross-class. Note that there is no second opportunity to cross-class or become a Jedi. If you change your mind later or you misclick, you'll have to reload or use a save editor. If you're wondering why anyone would want to do this, some people might want to do a "challenge run" without lightsabers or Force powers. Others might want to roleplay a trooper, smuggler, or bounty hunter-type character who refuses to use the Force. If you're wondering how this might be explained from a story standpoint, considering that the PC is regularly referred to as Padawan or Jedi, my explanation is that the PC is a "nominal Jedi". The PC is Force Sensitive and the Council considers them a (stubborn, uncooperative, foolish, and possibly evil) member of the Jedi Order, but the PC refuses to cultivate their Force abilities (in any obvious way), to wear robes, or to use lightsabers. Other than the Council and a few others who insist on treating the PC as a Jedi because they "should be a Jedi", NPCs are playing along. Or they don't know any better. They encounter a Force Sensitive or someone who seems like a Jedi, and assume that they must be one. File Index: dan13_vandar.dlg dan13_zhar.dlg A bunch of custom scripts Installation: Open the I Don't Want to Be a Jedi 3.0 archive and extract the loose .dlg files and .ncs scripts into your Override folder. Ignore the "Source Scripts" folder. Uninstallation: Remove the .dlg files found in the archive from your Override folder. The scripts won't do anything without the .dlg files, so you can leave them or delete them. The textures are upscaled by A.I. (waifu2x - caffe). Only the soldier outfit had an alpha layer (which tells the game which parts should reflect light), I redid that one because it was a bit crude. The scout and scoundrel outfits didn't have one, now they do for a bit more dynamic/interesting look. Thank you to all who have taken the time to view my content. I give permission to use my mods in any future projects with the appropriate credit. This mod is designed to tap into the nostalgia of first creating your character in K1 by changing the feats of the starting Jedi Classes of TSL to mirror those found in K1. The perceived lack of uniqueness between the classes in TSL formed the basis of this project. I also hope it addresses the notion of being granted feats that the player would not necessarily use or be able to master throughout the game depending on class feat progression. Jedi Guardian = Soldier Jedi Sentinel = Scout Jedi Consular = Scoundrel Changes 1. Protagonist Jedi Guardian is granted Armor Proficiency Light, Medium & Heavy, Power Attack, Power Blast, Weapon Proficiency Blaster Pistol, Blaster Rifle, Melee Weapons & Lightsaber, Force Jump, Jedi Sense, Jedi Defense, and War Veteran at Character Generation. 2. Protagonist Jedi Sentinel is granted Armor Proficiency Light & Medium, Flurry, Rapid Shot, Weapon Proficiency Blaster Pistol, Blaster Rifle, Melee Weapons & Lightsaber, Force Immunity Fear, Jedi Sense, Jedi Defense, and War Veteran at Character Generation. 3. This mod will give your female player character a variation on the Scout clothes as their basic clothing--albeit sleeveless, and recolored for all your fashion needs. The vest part comes in brown, red, blue, and green; all are available for all skin colors (including a Chiss mod, detailed in the readme). There is also an optional .uti file for anyone who wants to be able to fight in this gear, which will allow you to spawn in a fairly strong armored version (no armor restrictions or Dex bonus cap, upgradeable, etc.). Note: your height will change to that of a Scout if you're playing a Scoundrel or Soldier, run this mod, and put on basic clothing or the Cipher Gear armored version. If you wear anything else, it'll go back to normal. -
