Thank you! And what do you mean by dirty fix?

It's actually quite a safe way to change things because you can simply undo it by removing those mdl/mdx copies that you make.

A bit cleaner, or at least more consistent, would be to do to the new character what the mod's installer does to the relevant vanilla characters.

    Requested by ColbyJames43.

    UNINSTALLING
    --------------------------
    1. Remove the following files from your Override folder:

    pmhb09.mdl
    pmhb09.mdx
    PMHB09.tga
    PMHB09d.tga
    PMHB09d1.tga

    po_PMHB09d1.tga
    po_PMHB09d2.tga

    2. If you have never installed any mod with the TSL Patcher then you can remove appearance.2da, heads.2da and portraits.2da from the Override folder. Otherwise:
If you haven't installed any mods after this mod you can get the following files from the mod's backup folder and put them back in your Override folder:
    appearance.2da
    heads.2da
    portraits.2da

Doing this when you did add another mod will likely result in the later mods no longer being available in the game.

The old/original item gets stored in your save. You need to get a new instance of the item for it to match the new uti in your override folder. So cheat one in or use a save from right before your acquire it.

I tried clicking on the file in KOTOR Tool again and it still shows Texture Variation = 2 instead of '15'.

You are opening the edited uti file, with File -> Open GFF files?

  4. Try adding a file that ends with 3.
So maybe you have po_pmalya for the default portrait, po_pmalya2 for the silhouette and then po_pmalya3.

Btw the image's doesn't get shown at 100%, I don't remember the best fitting value (height 80%?). You can see the slight difference here:

  5. Hey, nice work so far!

    - You can use K-GFF to update the appearance (a value named "Appearance_Type" at the top) to point to the non vanilla row.
You will want to let the TSL Patcher do that dynamically once you're ready to turn things into a downloadable mod, but that can wait.
    - Lips not moving: that means you are referencing lip files that are not included in the module the character is in at that moment. You can extract them from another module that does include them, to the Override folder.
How to look for the ones you need: copy a mod file (one that contains _loc) or a bunch of them from the lips folder to the modules folder. In KotOR Tool you can now check which lip files it contains, the mod will appear under Kotor I -> ERFs -> Modules. Pretty easy to clean up afterwards because of the _loc in the filename.

That's all for now, good luck! 🙂

  6. The one under ERFs (mod file located in the modules folder) is from a mod and takes precedence over the vanilla one under RIMs.
So in theory you unpack that one, make your changes and turn the files back into a mod file.

g_w_null007.uti in tar_m03aa is the insta kill blaster that the turrets have equipped.

  8. Effixian's PMHH01 from K2 to K1

    TITLE: Effixian's PMHH01 from K2 to K1
    AUTHOR: Effix(ian)

    -----------------------
    DESCRIPTION
    -----------------------
This mod adds a male playable character; the first Hispanic head from KotOR 2 (PMHH01).
As requested by themaraudersforever on deadlystream.com.

    I've included 2 texture alternatives.
    A: "Son of Vaklu"
A bearded Caucasian version. There's no zombie style dark side corruption, light side has brown eyes, fully dark has the yellow Sith eyes, halfway is a mix of the two.
    B: "Mullet Man"
The PMHH01 head from K2 is almost the same as K1's PMHC04 head, but with a slightly different hairdo. This alternative B uses PMHH01's shape with slightly tweaked versions of PMHC04's textures. There's vanilla zombie style dark side transitions. The portraits are the same as PMHC04, because the differences are subtle.

    -------------------------
    INSTALLATION
    -------------------------
    Run the file "TSLPatcher - Install Effixian's PMHH01 from K2 to K1.exe".

To use one of the texture alternatives: copy all the files from inside one of the folders to your Override folder, overwrite files when prompted.

    -------------------------
Unzip, run "Effixians_Zabrak_Player_Characters.exe" from the subfolder.

    ------------------------
    DESCRIPTION
    ------------------------
This is a spin-off of my Bao-Dur reskin mods, made possible by DarthParametric's modder's resource "Bao-Dur Head Model Neck Fix".

This mod adds 3 Zabrak player character options:

A - You start as a clean Zabrak, as you go towards the dark side you get black tattoos. At fully dark side you get a Darth Maul inspired look.

B - Darth Maul inspired. Red skin with tattoos from the start.

C - Inspired by the Dathomir Nightbrothers. Yellow skin with tattoos, sith eyes at full dark side and a mix of the two in between.

The 3 parts of this mod have been on Steam for a while, as separate mods. This version contains several improvements compared to those versions.

  12. I don't have experience with that resolution but you should be able to use UniWS.
The Steam version of K1 is pretty much the same as the disc version (+patches), so the process is the same, the game is just in a different location by defauly.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SKMzwKE34E

(notice the 2560x1440 specific HUD files link in the description)

B.t.w. for next time, you can copy your Saves (and Override if you like) to a flash drive or something, then place that back after reformatting/reinstalling.

I should clarify that both Mira and handmaiden have the issue. I checked the .2da and altered the entries, but the problem persists. The only mods I can think that would be interfering is 'make visas dance' and one I have to make the handmaiden look different from her sisters, forget the name. Could one of those be it?

    Those should not interfere.

So, do you have the files from the screenshot above in your override folder?
    - PFBLHandM01.tga
    - PFBLHandMD01.tga
    - PFBLMira01.tga
    - PFBLMiraD01.tga

The screenshot of appearance.2da is how things are without mods, you shouldn't have to change those values.
