People don't know that the Force is actually a big ball of wibbly wobbly... timey wimey... stuff.

Anyone notice just how tiny the Ebon Hawk is when it's on Korriban? I know that they adjusted scaling to make it not seem monolithic, but it feels like a child's clubhouse!

So I just realized that introductions were a thing, so here's mine: I am an asbergian highschooler with too much time on my hands. I always have to have a project to work constantly. I was quite active on kotorfiles under the moniker "goatman82197" until the site started to go under. The community seemed to be dying, so I lost interest in modding. Recently, I pulled out my KotOR games to play, discovered DeadlyStream, and returned to modding with an active and supportive community. Personally, I like TSL over KotOR because TSL seemed to nail that classic Star Wars atmosphere better (it was more on the fringes of the main republic, while KotOR visited major capital planets. Also, the music had far more of a Star Wars vibe to it). My skills are skinning and rendering. With models and textures, I can recreate scenes in Autodesk Maya, a program I have used for nearly 10 years. I've used this skill to make some new M4-78 movies and to make HD cockpit skyboxes. I'm a good modeler, but I don't have experience putting models into the game. Oh and on kotorfiles I made a "Play As Micheal Jackson" mod. An odd choice, but spawned some funny reactions. My favorite bands are Talking Heads and DEVO, and I go for vinyl over CD.

I just might do that, though it'll be a while, as I need to finish up TSL. Speaking of, how about some Korriban? After the prototypes are done, I'll use some grid patterns to calculate the exact aspect ratio and positioning of each image.

File Name: Modder's Resource: Harbinger Model File Submitter: tjsase File Submitted: 12 Aug 2015 File Category: Modding Tools Hello! This is a 3D model of the Harbinger that I extracted from KotOR II. Only half of it was present (as you only see half at Peragus) so I mirrored and stitched the model symmetrically. This package also contains an alternate model of the Harbinger, in which I bent or removed some of the turrets to make it look like it has been war-torn. Besides the models, I've included the original .tga texture as well as some alternate textures I made to make the ship look war-torn. This includes a color map, and incandescent map, a bump map, and a specularity map. Any one is free to use this resource in their products. Enjoy! Click here to download this file

I'm open to that. What exactly are these re-textures, Jorak? Update: removed the droid from Dantooine as it barely spends any time in that section.

Perhaps I could do that. I save the final scenes of these so that I can just re-render when I need to, so alternate versions are definitely possible.

I have a model of the Hammerhead ship I used for another project, I could upload it as a modder's resource perhaps...

I was afraid that Dantooine was far too remote to make an effective demonstration, but don't worry, I have screenies:

So here's some of the textures I've made so far (M4-78 is flipped but in game it's flipped back) (Gamma was adjusted to compensate for darkening in-game, maybe a lightmap issue?). Now that I've discovered Imgur, I'll edit my previous posts to embed the screenshots

Motherboard swap was successful, though I had to reinstall windows and all my programs. With my new hardware, I can render at higher resolutions, so now the final mod release should have textures 4k in width rather than my planned 2k

Amazing work! Combined with a text enlargement mod, this could be a great GUI overhaul!
-
Not sure... I can't export the animations into Maya, but I could rig and recreate them. However, at the resolution and distance they are in the texture, it probably wouldn't payoff and could lead to huge file sizes.
-
I was going to do that. Anyway, I'm placing objects and NPCs into the Dantooine set, but I'll have to delay work on it to upgrade my computer's motherboard.
-
Got it. I'll re-render it then. Still working on the Dantooine skybox. It can be quite stressful to have to extract and texture all the meshes, but it's worth it to see the final result.

UPDATE TIME! I've finished the Nar Shaddaa skybox. Rotation has been corrected to match the Ebon Hawk's true position (it's facing a bit to the left, but the original skybox showed it facing forward). It seems that most of the skyboxes are looking down at the ground a bit, so I've corrected that. All the cockpit skyboxes wrap 240 degrees around the player. I render the skyboxes as a sphereical projection, 360 around and 180 up-down, then crop it to 240 around and a few up-down (it should be rendered cylindrically, but I can't find a working lens plug-in for Maya to do that. Besides, cropped enough vertically there's hardly any distortion). SCREENIES: I think the most tedious part it behind me. Nar Shaddaa is very panoramic and has many models. The other landing platforms just face some walls and should be easier to make.

Used Wayback Machine to find the mod, looks like I need explicit permission. Hopefully I can contact Sharen Thrawn. If not, I'll use the original skybox textures. I hope he hasn't left modding...
-
Not quite. The Ebon Hawk landed and is parked at an angle, facing about 45 degrees to the left towards the swoop platform. Next to it you can clearly see the skybox on the left. The original cockpit texture made it face forward when it wasn't supposed to.

So does anyone know who made the Realistic Nar Shadda Skybox mod? I would like to use it but I can't find it on this site! Was this mod free for anyone to use?
