Thanks Malkior for your comprehensive answer! And, about the large buttons, no damage taken:) To be honest, I'm not fully convinced too how the "buttons" in V2 turned out, they are way to over-colored and are more like "to have sth vanilla on the screen" ... They also make the interface look too "Trek" like.. About your argument that SW doesnt use holographic interfaces at all, i think thats only correct regarding the movies - but we are in the old republic, right? And if you take a look at SWtor there are holographic displays all over the place. The main reason for that i think, is simply that the movies were made at a time, where technology was much less evolved than today, therefore holographic interfaces just a step too far away. Beside that, you thought about merging ME interfaces with touch screen buttons is a very interesting one, i think ME has even done that, but only a few times. If you take a look at the following picture, maybe thats the way to go, what do you think:

about the absorption band: funny that you mention it, i found out just at this moment - it was one of my first attempts (and a really poor one) that accidentely found the way to this topic - i will upload a more up to date version. about version 2: i made the "large buttons" instead of the low tech vanilla ones in V1 to have sth next gen, that points to the original desk; but could you upload a pic which matches your Imagination of a Star Wars like desk1? Would help me refining it - also keep in mind, that i want to orientate on some of the "good things" from ME2 & 3 like the holographic style but always in respect of the original Kotor games.
-
Thank you. I do my best I have in mind also to make some animations out of them, but to get a fluid one with 16 or more pics the files r getting insanely big (at least 16k)... Deadman somehow managed to separate the animated part of the texture in his vibrosword mod - but i have no idea how that works...
-
I thought that The desk is part of a larger project, where i want to make the "technology" in Kotor more Mass effect like , but always as close ap to the original game. so you dont feel V2 is to far away from kotor?
-
Guys, after working more on the various computer panels i need some feedback on the desk1. It was quite a hassle for me since this crappy texture just refused to look good... After some tries i decided to change the display texture to something more "next gen"; so, here are some tests, which version do you prefer and why - feel free to give your feedback, suggestions: Vanilla: first try: Version 1: Version 2: from side:

Sithspecter's Midsummer Mod-Off
Jorak Uln replied to Sithspecter's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
I know, no need to worry - asari and duros are very different;) It wasnt about making some crazy female duros etc. - my thought was only about the blue skin. I like how Bioware giving them structure and it might be cool to do something similar with the undetailed blue duros skin... -

Thanks! It still needs some tweaking, though. The middle-screen could use some Equalizer-animations like in Mass Effect... Beside, your asari look really cool too! I always thought about them in Kotor, especially on the Duros Skin. Keep it up! -

Wow, your mods look frighteningly well done! Beside I've played around with some animated textures - Sithspecter, if you like, I could upload a vid later. For now, here is a first take on the Com panel: -

Sign me up as well! Some of my retextures need to be done... -
Your Nar Shaddaa addon looks superb! Are you planning to do it as a single player add-in? (e.g. you see Atton talking to exile about his adventures on Nar Shaddaa...you play Atton...then you see Atton talking to the Exile again etc.) I think there's even a dialogue where Exile asks Atton if he was on N.Sh. already, and he said: Every pilot has to be there at least once or so... By the way, I accidentally found this: http://www.google.de/imgres?imgurl=http://www.starwars-union.de/bilder/news/20080227_kotor3_idriss_bg.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.starwars-union.de/nachrichten/8780/KotOR_3_Konzeptbilder_aufgetaucht_-_Nachrichten/&h=648&w=485&tbnid=T4w_CN0PJe6JZM:&zoom=1&tbnh=90&tbnw=67&usg=__PVhrY_xYmRNWS_0qtHORNxkch2g=&docid=6f65hkSWqfm8FM&client=opera&sa=X&ei=1CmQU5jFB-T9yAO76oCYCg&ved=0CDwQ9QEwBQ&dur=4693 what about making some of these ones for your mod??

Mod recommendations for a new playthrough?

All Xarwarz files (and the fx files from multiupload) go to the Kotor 2/ Override folder. Don't forget to flip them. -
Mod recommendations for a new playthrough?
Jorak Uln replied to therevan789's topic in Knights of the Old Republic General
@therevan789: you really have to install Xarwarz Visual Enhancement 2013: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=211202 (for Link scroll down) Overwrite them with Peragus OTE and Harbinger OTE Final and TSL PLC 2012: http://www.moddb.com/members/xarwarrz/addons NOTE: all Xarwarz files has to be flipped e.g. download xn view, extract all files, select the files with xn view then click "batch processing" then select your Kotor 2 folder, revert to tga, and flip vertical. Done! For force lightning texture check out this: http://www.multiupload.nl/MYLDIP247W (Install ONLY the fx files) If you could be patient for about ~ 2 weeks, im planning to release a next gen fully retextured helmet Overhaul ... -
@Loki, Malkior: Thanks for your thoughts! What I've got so far is this: My goal is to get this look: Malkior, I'm not so experienced with txi editing - I will think about your suggestion, but in order to achieve a similar result like the sentry visor wouldn't it be easier to just find the second texture beside I_VerpHBnd? Also, i tested the saresh circlet with a complete transparent texture - in-game it was completely invisible... and the Visor isn't, so that's a strong indicator that there is a second texture involved...
-
Hi, I'm working on a new helmet overhaul (all retextured from the scratch) and I have a question regarding the Force Focusing Visor Model (I_VerpHBnd): i cant retexture the full model, especially the transparent "band" in front of the eyes properly - somehow it seems to be a shared texture; so for testing purpose I used a 100% transparent texture and that's what I got: Do you know which texture beside I_VerpHBnd has to be edited?

hi guys, im searching for Xarwarz Sith Illuminated & Mandalorian Armor WIP - since i unfortunately deleted them during a complete reinstall of Windows; i have PM´d Xarwarz on that matter and he said he would look after them, but also that he isnt sure if he still has a copy - and thats some month ago; so i ask you guys, could someone dig up the files? Would be great, i cant start my next playthrough without them Sith Illuminated: http://s718.photobucket.com/user/Xarwarrz/media/Armorz/swkotor2011-04-2513-37-56-95.jpg.html Mandalorian: http://s718.photobucket.com/user/Xarwarrz/media/Armorz/swkotor22011-04-2513-40-00-59.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1 Thread: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=207231

Oh - that is from Xarwarz and also Peragus - I have taken the screens from my fully modded TSL version so sorry about that. To make it more obvious, I will upload my mods using vanilla TSL in the future.

Hi there fellow modders, its great to watch you guys on your projects - many of them are really stunning! So inspired most by the next gen approaches of Xarwarz & Co. i decided to try a lil bit of my own... I have to say these pics are my first retexture ever, so its a long way to go Throw it at me, im happy about any advice you guys can give me!! Here my try on the bothan visor : Vanilla: Modded: retexture of vanilla absorption band (still requires some work): Vanilla: Modded: a new gui: dont know, why ihand_l and ihand_r isnt displayed at all - any ideas?

[WIP] Kainzorus Prime's Robe Model Reskin Project and More
Jorak Uln replied to heyorange90's topic in Work In Progress
Though i havent used Filter Forge i can assure you, Genetica is amazing. I think its biggest strength lies in retexturing from the scratch, animating textures and really endless "customization." Xarwarz used this program in his retextures - it easily shrugs off 3-4 years from the old engine. Im very much new to modding, but with this tool i remade some gui elements very easily from the scratch: Vanilla head: http://s1.directupload.net/images/140422/8c8voen7.jpg Modded: http://s1.directupload.net/images/140422/ffbficaf.jpg Vanilla Party icon: http://s14.directupload.net/images/140422/4kjkbmi3.jpg Modded Party: http://s14.directupload.net/images/140422/zyrb35cr.jpg What i found very interesting is this advanced tutorial about making a scifi texture, things like this i would love to see in Kotor I+II... http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/offsite_images/How%20to%20Make%20a%20Sci-Fi%20Texture.pdf -
My Projects In the Pipeline (mostly texture related)
Jorak Uln replied to Malkior's topic in Work In Progress
@Malkior: Wow, well done! I like your skyboxes... especially dantooine now has that "calm" feeling that it should have - far of from war,conflicts...now you actually can see its meant to be place of piece and contemplation. So, are you considering to upload your skyboxes/ other files perhaps as a beta?? -
[WIP] Kainzorus Prime's Robe Model Reskin Project and More
Jorak Uln replied to heyorange90's topic in Work In Progress
@heyorange90: Wow, it looks very good so far! Im glad there are guys who give these robes the much needed facelift!! Since im a newbie to modding im not in the position to give you special advise for your work - but theres one of Xarwarz`tools i recently discovered that maybe is overlooked a bit: Its called "Genetica 4.0" http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/index.htm and its absolutely amazing: with just a few clicks you can give your textures a whole new design from the scratch. And the best part: You can actually animate textures! Maybe this could provide your robes a little bit extra?? Anyway, im really lookin forward to your release.. -
Hi there, Im new to this forum - and new to modding the thing is - since there are some really awesome mods out there, that give TSL a "next gen" look - i was always annoyed by the poor looks of the gui icons.... - and since to my knowledge there isnt any mod so far that changes this - i decided to change it myself and just cut out/rename the SWTOR icon images from torhead.com. (i know, nothing special so far...) So my question to you modders out there: if i release them - is there any problem with copyright? (Since they are entirely from torhead; no resources from Swtor taken)
