Having poked through the game's files a fair bit, my personal opinion is that this is the mobile port of the game, with the Xbox UI, for some reason, ham-fisted into it. Here's why I think that: folder in override titled "xbox_gui" Weird decomp of the dialog.tlk file, with a path that implies it comes from the IOS codebase. The folder structure in general is also very similar to the Android port. I still have no idea why they used the Xbox GUI at all, seeing as the mobile port had a perfectly functional UI, but I assume it was partially due to the fixed resolution nature of the Switch, as opposed to mobile phones which have a wide range of resolutions and aspect ratios. As you said, the textures are definitely some sort of AI upscale, that much I'm certain of. I can confirm that the base textures are actually the PC 512x512 textures, however, they have been upscaled to a staggering 1024x1024, which is why they look so bad. See below: Left is the original texture in \TexturePacks\ and right is in \override\Textures. In the description, my confusion was more regarding why they included this without even advertising it, rather than confusion about why it looked so bad, which I think is what you're getting at? Thank you for sharing, hope this is helpful info, or at least, interesting.

A Mod for Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic Author: N-DReW25 1.0.0 Release Date: 20.06.2021 Installation: Simply click on the TSLPatcher.exe, select your option, click install and sit back and watch the TSLPatcher do its magic. WARNING: If you wish to use Gloveless Sith Officers and Albino Sith Officers at the same time, please install Gloveless Sith Officers FIRST and Albino Sith Officers SECOND! Uninstallation: Depends on what you've chosen to install. Copy the files within the generated "backup" folder and place the file inside your modules folder, make sure you overwrite. Description: July 15 2003 was the day Kotor 1 was released for the first time on Xbox. If you've played Kotor on the Xbox or have played my Knights of the Old XBOX mod then you might be aware that the Xbox version and the PC version of these games are different, but what if I told you there was a 3rd version of Kotor which you might not have heard of before? Between 2002 and early 2003, the original Kotor website published a series of images which ranged from concept art to promotional screenshots of the game during its Beta/Pre-Release stage of development. Whilst these promotional screenshots might appear worse than the vanilla game (As these are pre-release/in-development screenshots), a few eagle eyed observers might notice some features in said screenshots which the vanilla game lacks. What this mod will do is add these features into the vanilla PC game. WARNING: Please be sure to consult the mod's screenshots before installing (Or ask the mod author in the comments), the installer for this mod is modular allowing you to install things at your leisure, however, some features might be perceived as lower quality than others so it is recommended to be 100% sure of what you want to install before installing anything. None of the features should break your game, it's merely a matter of your own opinion on whether or not you like the aesthetic of a specific feature or not. Known Bugs: This mod shouldn't have bugs but if there is Just PM me on Deadlystream. Gloveless Jedi Robes do not receive the grey Dark Side transitions, meaning the player character will have a grey head with normal hands. The best way to fix this would be to use a mod which removes the Dark Side transitions. Incompatibilities: Would be incompatible with any mods which modifies Mission Vao's body/underwear/head texture and portraits, Trask Ulgo's unique head texture and portraits, Jedi Robe textures and models, Sith Officer body/head textures or models Permissions: Do NOT claim credit for this mod and do not use assets from this mod without my permission. Thanks to: Bioware: For such an amazing game Fred Tetra: For Kotor Tool Stoffee: For TSLPatcher Everyone who downloads the mod! ///// 01. Background ///// Being such a main part of the K1 story, I was surprised to see these had yet to be revamped. I was looking to get into modding/reskinning, so I thought this would be a great project. ///// 02. Enhancements ///// First steps were to update the overall model. I wanted some visual upgrades while still maintaining a very-aged and neglected structure. I love the runes scattered throughout the game and I really wanted to incorporate those as well. It seemed fitting to light them. (And you're going to them all over the place.) Next section was so focus on the HUD (for lack of a better term). It was very pixelated and really needed a crisp, new look. I tried to simplify it a bit and ended up removing a couple of parts as well. The biggest change I made was creating a new piece for the planet locators. I simply didn't like the originals and wanted to make the location an actual planet. This was a really fun part--recreating the central galaxy this all revolved around. I used some shots of actual galaxies, nebulas, and starfields. It's hard to beat the real thing. I adjusted the colors slightly for better clarity as well. The mother of a bastard that caused me the most grief, was the dodecahedron in the center of the star map. The texture had such a bizarre repeat pattern and never really wrapped that well. I'm happy to the point I got it to, but would like to make that an actual sphere in v2. ///// 03. Future Plans ///// In thinking about a version 2, I'd like to actually edit the model files. I think some edges could be softened, but mostly I'd like to adjust the mapping to avoid so many repeated areas of the texture. The final opening of the star map, where the PC finds out the location of the forge could use some work. Most (if not all) is model work and I wasn't ready for that. I'd also like to adjust the lighting in a couple of places. Would I go as far as to customize it for every zone you find a map? I dunno, that's a big endeavor and there are a limited number of placeables. ///// 04. Moving Forward ///// This has been a fun project for sure, and I'm happy to see it come to fruition. Please download and let me know your thoughts. I open to constructive criticism and whatever I can do to the better the project, I'm happy to do so. ///// 05. Install ///// Drag 'em to your override folder. These shouldn't conflict with anything. ///// 06. Uninstall ///// Remove the files. ///// 07. Disclaimer ///// Distribute, have fun, edit, whatever. I only ask that you don't claim this as your own. ///// 08. Thanks ///// So many! Shout outs for tutorials, advice, suggestions, testing, encouragement, and more. Since TOR released a set of the Star Forge robes not too long back, I figured it might be a useful basis for a hybrid version with the vanilla cape and loincloth (the TOR version is only painted on) married to SS's flowing robes animations. At this point I've done the initial import, scale, and pose, and am now ready for the transfer to the KOTOR rig. Thanks to the Blender I/O script, I was also able to bake out the tinted textures, which is much easier than trying to approximate it manually as I have had to do in the past. Here's where it's at currently: I still need to fiddle with a few bits and pieces, and there will no doubt be plenty of tweaking to do once the rig transfer is done and I can test out animations. I also have some folded down hoods taken from other sets that I will try to marry to this torso for a hoodless/maskless version. But that will require a fair bit of massaging to get them to fit, so I'm saving that for later. Still not sure about the cape. I think having it white as well would be a bit too overpowering, but I'm not entirely sold on the brown. And I haven't done anything for the DS black version as yet. Since there's no TOR version of that colour scheme for this set, I'll have to cobble something together myself.

This mod replaces the terrible low poly and sprite-based crowd in the Dark Side ending with a full 3D crowd. Due to engine limitations, these are static in order to preserve the frame rate, but the original only has some slight wobbling of the sprites anyway. The two animated Sith Officers that walk up and salute still remain, as in the original version, although they have been tweaked so that the transition from walking to saluting is a little less janky. Both now also bow in a later shot, as intended. Two doors that were missing have been added (also to the regular Temple Summit module) so Bastila and Revan have an obvious path to the dais besides Force Leap. Some of the level geometry has been consolidated to improve performance, since models with high individual mesh counts seem to tank the frame rate. As of v1.2, all the vanilla lightmaps have been completely replaced with entirely new higher resolution ones, cleaning up artefacts and adding in a lot of missing shadows. Known Issues / To-Do List: Currently, the DS credit sequence does not play in fullscreen when movies are enabled due to the requirement for additional exe patching not currently done by any existing widescreen patch. I have provided info about this to ndix UR for incorporation into his high res menu patcher, but there is no ETA on an update for that. In the meantime, for those willing to crack open a hex editor, here are the offsets you need to edit with your own resolution values in the CD/GOG exe: 0x28F9E0 – E0 01 0x28F9E5 – 80 02 0x28F9FA – 80 02 0x28FA04 – E0 01 Credits and Thanks: @bead-v for MDLEdit and KOTORMax. @ndix UR for TGA2TPC, TPCView, MDLOps 1.x. @seedhartha for KOTORBlender for Blender 2.8+, especially for adding the lightmap baking feature. Thanks to @ebmar for offering his 2¢ on various aspects and for prompting me to dig this one back out of the "on hiatus" pile. Thanks to @N-DReW25 for suggesting the addition of the doors. Skybox textures in screenshots/video are from @Kexikus's High Quality Skyboxes II.
