About This File

This is basically just a drop in override mod for the vanilla masks of KoToR.

 

With one exception: Tetas Royal Band Restored By Darth Insidious is required before that one will work. I included it because it is a vanilla mask, but it was hidden in the game files.

 

All models and textures are overhauled. Some more than others. Even if the model does not look different by much there has been a lot of time and effort put into tweaking the UVs and editing the models to be smoother without adding too many polys.

 

I wanted to release three of the masks as helmets, however those will be added later in an optional expansion of this mod.

 

TODO: Fix some things about the textures such as glowing things that should be glowing, and add new replacement icons. If there are any model problems i will gladly fix them and re-up the whole archive.

 

New file in addition to the main file is the icons for the new masks. Thanks to djh269 for offering to make these icons and send them to me. A huge help.

 

That leaves trying to figure out some issues with reflection for some of the masks, and maybe a few animations that are supposedly supposed to be on them.

Great mod! One question. What robes are you wearing?

 

heck i dont even remember. i just liked them and put them in the override. its probably one of the hi res reskin projects or something.

after browsing a bit on the site here, i think it is the Prequel Robe Replacement 1.0, but a similar set of robes can be found in the Movie robe reskin 2.1

 

one replaces robes and the other just adds them to the base items.

i think you are referring to the Empress Tetas Royal Band Restored By Darth Insidious. That is my texture for it. I tried to make it look as if it were gold and diamond encrusted with bits of silver. I hope to get some reflection on it in the future, but the limitations in gimp are not leping me. Perhaps if i can get an old installer of Photoshop to work then i can do it properly with the plugins designed for Kotor tga textures. That and the circlet of seresh are the only two i really need to add reflection to at this point. the rest are prety much already final. Of course if i can do that then i wil attempt to add in some animation and glowing that suppsoedly was on the vanilla models and textures, but that is something that will be added later. for now these work well enough.

Again its more than enough, they honestly look amazing, nice detailed work.

 

Just want say this in general to everyone really, but with your headgear, the high quality blaster textures and weapons textures, and jorak uln's WIP on environment, the only thing left really for textures would be armor/clothing, aliens, and skin/eyes in my opinion.

yes, i think various modders are working on all those aspects in one way or another. it just takes time to accomplish.

 

there are some better alien skins but i have not converted the names over to the default texture names yet to see if they hold up. but those are basically made for player character aliens, and i would have to get a hold of the author to ask if it is ok if they upload that as a separate mod. i can test it out and do the work renaming them, but its their baby.

i think this will also work with TSL by simply dropping it in the override as well. i think the masks are named the exact same thing as far as models and textures go.

Don't extract *.mdl and *.mdx files from mod to TSL override and everything will work just fine.

Would you ever consider doing this for KOTOR 2? I know i'd instantly download

There needs to be a kotor 2 version :(.

 

As @DeadMan stated, don't extract the .mdl and .mdx files. I can confirm it works perfectly on Kotor 2 using his method.

That just leaves the textures, which will apply onto tsl's vanilla models. I feel like something else needs to be done to make the mod work properly with tsl.
