German Tech-Newbie Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Hi guys, I don't speak/write English very well, so I apologize in advance for this. Now my problem: KOTOR2 runs totally OK, only the bugs are annoying. So I installed TSLRCM 1.8.2. Since I installed it, my loading times are extremely high. Even the main menu is lagging all the time. First, I thought my system crashed but after a while I could start a new game. Then it was all the same like original game but all time when there is a loading screen the time to load is extremely long. In the original game the time was about 15 - 20 sec but now its about 5 - 8 min. Its extremely annoying to wait all the time, because it is even when I leave an area to another area in-game. As far as I know the mod runs good and all contents I played until now are available. So I started to look on Google for answer to my problem but there were no other guys having the same problem like me. Because I can't understand long English texts, I only searched for German forums but no one could answer. So please help me and tell me what to do to get the game running. Maybe you can tell me in German? EDIT: I read about the M4-78 project. I've installed this mod, too... but now I read this is only compatible to the English version. I have the German one. Can it be that maybe this is an issue for my problem? Quote
Hassat Hunter Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 It shouldn't be. It can cause other issues though. Loading varies on areas (the big ones on M4-78 taking longer than, say, the Hawk) and the amount of progress made ingame (a new game loads almost instantly, endgame takes longer due to all the stuff saved in the savefile). I have never heard the differences being this big, nor TSLRCM caused though... sorry :/ Quote
Kainzorus Prime Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Are there any other mods you've installed besides TSLRCM and M4-78? Quote
German Tech-Newbie Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 I've installd 3 or 4 other mods. so u think it may work if I uninstall them? Ok... I will try tomorrow when I'm home again... thank u for this. Quote
Kainzorus Prime Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 How about you list them first, so we know what they are, and which might conflict. Quote
German Tech-Newbie Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 I will list them once I am home again (not until Thursday night). But I think I installed TSLRCM ca. 2 years ago without any other mod and I got the same prob, but I am not sure actually. Maybe we can solve the issues when I list the installed ones. EDIT: I thought about my PC, it is 10+ years old, maybe the processor is not fast enough? It's a single core with 2,53 GHz... but until now I didn't get any problems with older games. Does TSLRCM need more computing power than the original, to get the game run more fluently? Quote
German Tech-Newbie Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 So... I installed some other mods. more than i first thought but I don't even know the correct names of them:TSLRCM1.8.2M4-78 MODQuarterstaff modArmored Robes v1.2Saedhe mod for additional charactersSame mod for yuthura ban charactersMod for Revan's Lightsaberdm sound fixes modVisas unmasked final modSorry that there are so much mods. Do you think you can check them for any issues?or maybe its better to reinstall the whole game? Quote
Kainzorus Prime Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 IS the M4-78 the very old mod, or the TSLRCM-compatible M4-78EP? Quote
German Tech-Newbie Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 should be the latest one... but not sure anymore... maybe there is the problem? i downloaded this one: THE SITH LORDS RESTORED CONTENT MOD ADD-ON:M4-78 Enhancement Project1. Description:----------This mod adds the planet of M4-78 to the game, where you can find living Master Vash. Planet is only available after finishing Korriban. You will find a clue on how to get to M4-78 in Korriban's Sith Academy. Should be the EP one I think. Quote
Sith Holocron Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Could you provide links to the following mods you have installed?1) Quarterstaff mod2) Armored Robes v1.23) Saedhe mod for additional characters4) Same mod for yuthura ban characters5) Mod for Revan's Lightsaber6) dm sound fixes mod7) Visas unmasked final mod Update: To make this discussion easier to follow, I've added the official names to the links in German Tech-Newbie's post below. Quote
German Tech-Newbie Posted March 10, 2014 Author Posted March 10, 2014 1) Quarterstaff Replacement Pack 2) Armored Robes 1.2 3) Playable Saedhe [Head Mod] 4) Yuthura Ban as PC 2.0 [Head Mod] 5) Revan's Longsaber 6) Saber&Melee Weapon Sound Mod 1.000001 7) Visas Unmasked! I am happy to get the download links saved... EDIT: I thought a little about my problem. Are the installed mods all compatible to the German version of the original game that I have? Or can it be that incompatible ones create this issue? UPDATE: So ... I completely uninstalled the whole game. I installed the game, patched it to 1.0a and 1.0b. and the game was running normal. then I reinstalled TSLRCM 1.8.2 and then the same problem. all's slow again, main menu is lagging and loading screen lasts 5-10 minutes. I now got no any other mods and not even M4-78 EP. Now I started a new game and after waiting 10min i realized i can only play as jedi guard female. there is no more to choose gender and jedi class. Saving lates 7 minutes too. Help me. What's up with my game? Quote
Kainzorus Prime Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Have you tried defragging the disk that the game is installed on? Quote
MrPhil Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Maybe the 10 years old computer isn't helping? Quote
German Tech-Newbie Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 The original game without any mod or RCM is running normal, so it can't be the computer, isn't it? Quote
cabal Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 My computer is probably older than his and TSLRCM runs fine on it. Defragmenting the drive is the best idea I can think of. Or reducing the resolution. I run it at 1024x768. Quote

cabal Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 What is your resolution currently set at? Also, might you attach the following file to your next reply: swkotor2.ini Sorry it took me a week, I don't come here often. swkotor2_ini.zip I'm not sure why the Display Options say 640x480, but the Graphics Options are correct. My current system has: 2.24GHz Pentium 4 2GB DDR RAM GeForce FX 5700LE Windows XP SP3 Running the game at 1024x768, no anti-aliasing, no v-sync, no anisotropy, no soft shadows. Frame buffer effects, hard shadows, and grass all enabled. Runs at a great frame rate, barring a small handful of areas. Using TSLRCM 1.8.2 and a handful of graphics mods. Quote
Tyvokka Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Try turning off grass, it has worked for me before. Also update to 1.8.3 as it was just released. Quote
cabal Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Try turning off grass, it has worked for me before. Also update to 1.8.3 as it was just released. German Tech-Newbie was the one with performance problems, not me. In my case, framerate dips at places with lots of transparent items, like the Peragus fuel depot. Grass has barely any effect. Quote
German Tech-Newbie Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 Hello guys, yesterday I completely reinstalled anything of Kotor II. There is not even any mod installed, exept the new version 1.8.3 and M4-78EP. But there is the same problem like before. The game was running fine when I only install Kotor II. But when I add 1.8.3 the massive lag in the main menue is annoying and when I start a new game the loading time makes the game pure unplayable. I'm going to give up playing the restored game... I'm sad, that your work don't work at my situation... that makes no fun, even playing the game is actually fantastic. Quote
drunklol Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Did you try turning vsync on and off ? Did you disable vertex buffer objects - go to the KotOR ini file and added this line into the [Graphic Options] section: Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1. Try reducing the graphic options. My consideration of the problem is that your pc somehow is unable to cope with the modified content from the RCM.I remember to having similar problem - in the good old days nearly 4-5 years ago i whenever i played Kotor TSL in a environment with a smoke the game became extremely laggy, as far as i remember there is smoke on the menu as well whick was quite annoying. My videocard back then was nvdia fx 5500 i think and i had to remove vsync for TSL and grass option for KotOR. Hope it works for you cuz the game as it is now is simply perfect(big thanks to the team for realizing their projects) Quote
Sith Holocron Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Try it again when a computer that isn't over 10 years old. Quote
