  1. Thank you for your reply. I have gotten the .utc files to work just fine. However there is one that I am still missing. I cannot find the .utc file for the Player Character (my character) for the start of the game. I am talking about the opening scene of the game where your character wakes up in the bed on the Endar Spire. In the default game settings your character is wearing nothing but their simple underwear. I have seen mods where the game starts and your character is shown in the bed already dressed in armor and/or Jedi Robes. Therefore I know you are allowed to change this so I am asking to be shown how. I want to be shown the files I need so I can change this. There is one item I want to equip my character with one particular item from the VERY beginning of the game. Can you please show me how to do that? Thank you in advance.
  2. Sorry it has taken me awhile to get back to you. I hope there are no hard feelings. I believe this is what I need. It will take me awhile to test it though as I am working on some other projects. When I do get to it I will let you know how things turn out and whether or not it work. Thank you again very much.
  3. I am trying to edit the .mod files in the game, at least some of them. I know that many of the files in the game, whether they are dialogue, .utc, ,uti, or etc, share the same name. This can create an issue when you want to edit one in particular. I want to be shown how to edit the .mod files so I can rename a particular dialogue, .utc, .uti, and etc file and edit it with aspects like scripts or adjusting inventory or saying I want so the game will recognize it as a separate file and provide them. I have already tried everything in KOTOR Tool and Mod Project Tool. Can someone please tell me what I need to do and which program I need to use. Please provide step-by-step instructions. For an example I will use the dialogue file sc16_converse. There are two of them. One is located in 10. ebo_m40aa_s.rim and the other in STUNT_16_s.rim. I need to rename one of the copies so they will be recognized as separate for the TSLPatcher and the Override Folder. I was told to use the K-Giff program to locate but I cannot find them after using the program. I download all the mod files (the ARE, GIT, and IFO Files) from both s.rim modules with KOTOR Tool but then when I searched for the sc16_converse file there was nothing there. I have included a screenshot of the search I have tried looking at topics from others who faced the same issue but could not understand them. I may have made a topic about this myself once but was not getting any replies so I wanted to try again. I ask to please be shown how to locate the files I am looking for and how to edit the labels and values to what I want. That way I can rename one of the dialogue files then change the value in the .mod to match it. That way I can place both all the files in the Override Folder and be able to use them both at once with the changes I made. Please provide step-by-step instructions. Thank you in advance.
  4. Could you please tell me how to do this? I am trying to edit the exact same dialogue files along with at least one more. I have made a post in the forum but have not gotten any response so I need to try something different. Again could please explain to me through step-by-step instructions on how to edit the dialogue files and the module files that go with them? That way I can edit the files that I need but also adjust the correct module files so I can use them all and avoid a conflict with the Override Folder. Thank you in advance.
  5. I am trying to edit the .mod files in the game, at least some of them. I know that many of the files in the game, whether they are dialogue, .utc, ,uti, or etc, share the same name. This can create an issue when you want to edit one in particular. I want to be shown how to edit the .mod files so I can rename a particular dialogue, .utc, .uti, and etc file and edit it with aspects like scripts or adjusting inventory or saying I want so the game will recognize it as a seperate file and provide them. I have already tried everything in KOTOR Tool and Mod Project Tool. Can someone please tell me what I need to do and which program I need to use. Please provide step-by-step instructions For example I want to insert tar02_carth023 to be used in the first Taris Apartment Scene and leave the second tar02_carth023 file alone. You can view it yourself below. Please provide step-by-step instructions. The files I want to edit are attached below. The numbers are only to tell them apart here. In the game they are completely identical. Thank you in advance. Duplicate Files.zip
  6. I was not able to get the .mod file to work. No matter what I did after multiple tries I could not get the container to spawn. However I was able to get around this problem. I was able to take a placeable file and its spawning script from another mod I have: the Utility Armbands. I would like to thank the creator of the mod, Star Admiral, for creating the mod and giving permission that the files can be reused in other mods. As he requested in the readme I grant him full credit for the mod as well. I have now actually been able to get the container to spawn but it is in the wrong spot. I want to be on the other side of the room and in the center of it. Can you please help me figure out what adjustments I should place in the location vectors. I have placed the files below so you can take a look at them. Thank you in advance. Container Files.zip
  7. Can you please walk me through that step-by step? I am having trouble getting the scripts to work to spawn the container and I have already tried multiple times. I want the type of the container to be a metal box containing the Blaster Cannon weapon. Thank you in advance. Can you please walk me through that step-by step on the first option? I am having trouble getting the scripts to work to spawn the container and I have already tried multiple times and I have had absolutely no experience with the .mod files. I want the type of the container to be a metal box containing the Blaster Cannon weapon. Thank you in advance.
  8. Can you please tell me how to do this? There are some scripts I want to decompile for a mod. Thank you in advance.
  9. Thank you for your reply. I did some research and I believe you are right about the Old Hit Check. It is probably best to leave it alone so that is what I will do. And for the Sea Floor on Manaan, it appears that the need to wear the environmental suit is hardwired into the game and cannot be changed. But I will still need help with equipping Bastila with the same items throughout the entire game. I spent about 30 minutes working with the Bastila .utc file but did not have any success. Would you be willing to show me how? For example, could you please provide me step-by-step instructions that gives Bastila the Blaster Cannon (g_w_rptnblstr03.uti) on the Unknown World when you encounter her in the temple. I will especially need help working with scripts as I cannot decompile the scripts the game uses to edit them so I will have to make my own from scratch. Please tell me how to do this.
  10. I have a few points with KOTOR that I am trying to resolve. First, in the dialogue files such as the one attached below, do you know what Old Hit Check means and what it does? I want to know in case it is something that I might want to deselect. Second, I know on Manaan that you have equip a special diving suit to venture out underwater. Do you know if this can be changed with a mod or is hardwired into the game? I ask because I know there is a mod that allows you to take your party with you so I am hoping that I can keep the armor, headgear, and weapons that I normally have my character wear. Finally I want to know how to change the outfit for Bastilla. What I mean is that after she is taken by Malak and turns to the Dark Side she is shown wearing a black Jedi Robe. I want to know how to change her outfit so she will be wearing what I equip her with when she is in my party. For example, when she joins my party I will equipping her was a Blaster Cannon rather than a lightsaber and the Verpine Zal Alloy Mesh armor rather than robes. I want her to still be carrying, using, and wearing those items during the scene where Malak starts to entice her and when my character encounters her on the Unknown World and Star Forge System. I have edited the appearance.2da file by adding a new line (Line 509) changed the modules lines to the outfit I want. I have attached it here so you can see it. Please tell me if I am wrong anywhere. Now I need to know which columns to edit and how to give her the miscellaneous items and weapon I want. Also I absolutely want her to be wearing a headgear item so which columns do I edit for that. If I need to create new columns for these results how do I do that? Then after I have the appearance.2da file set I will edit the appearance lines in the Bastila.utc files to give the appearance I want. Does that sound right to all of you? Can you please tell me how to do all this? I am willing to take another look but I need to know what I am looking for. Is there another file that I need to be using? Hopefully by looking at them you can tell me where I went wrong. Also I am asking all of you to please check my other forum about editing placeables at the link below. I am having trouble getting a metal-box container to spawn by script, especially in the place I want it to. Perhaps you can tell me what I am doing wrong. Thank you in advance. https://deadlystream.com/topic/6857-editing-placeable-items-in-kotor/ appearance.2da lev40_darthmalak.dlg
  11. I was unable to get the whereami armband to work but I used the Orientation Armband from the Utility Armband Mod which did the same thing. I was able to get the orientation vectors but I am still have trouble. For the type of placeable I have taken a footlocker.utp file and given it a unique name so the game will recognize it as a unique item. I know how to use the GFF Editor to edit the inventory of the placeable as I have done it before. What I want to know is how do I get the placeable to spawn where I want it to. I want to appear in the same room on the Endar Spire where the player character first meets Trask under the window do the right but adjust the vector coordinates. To quote another forum: "In KOTOR Tool, the GIT (dynamic area info) is in the XYZ.rim along with the ARE (static area info) and IFO (module info).". I want to know how to do that. I want the footlocker to be facing towards the center of the room just as the one where you get your gear is located. I will wait to edit the inventory until after I get this matter resolved. I have placed my vector coordinates below and attached the placeable file I intend to use. Please tell me if I am wrong anywhere. Please provide step-by-step instructions for everything. Thank you in advance. Angle Orientation: 187.890487671 X Orientation: -0.990523279 Y Orientation: -0.137280092 Bearing Orientation: -2.995116711 footlker999.utp
  12. I can see that you are right. I tried to use the GFF Editor to edit the contents of the Endar Spire Footlocker and it edited the contents of every such footlocker in the game. That definitely will not help me. I am willing to create a custom container but can you please provide me with specific step-by-step instructions on how to do it? For example, I am at a complete loss on how to get the XYZ coordinates on where I want the container to be. I know there are multiple type of containers available such as bags, cylinder containers, and footlockers. I want to spawn a custom footlocker. Finally after I can get it spawned how do I establish the inventory? Again please provide step-by-step instructions for the whole thing. Thank you in advance.
  13. I have been able to figure out the point with the K-GFF Editor however the item still not work entirely. According to the research I have done I will need to make edits to the scripts. The reason for this is that the footlocker I am using is not uniquely named so the game tries to place the items in each occurrence of the footlocker. Furthermore the items I am using are custom made, not those available in the game by default. I need to adjust the scripts so the items are included but only appear once in the first footlocker on the Endar Spire where you first speak to Trask. I have found some links that provide instructions which are included below but they are difficult for me to understand. I ask for someone to please provide step-by-step instructions on how I can create scripts and add my player made items to appear in the footlocker. Also can someone please tell me how to how change the links. I want all my links to be posted as text like the one at the bottom, not the image attachments like those shown below that automatically appear. Thank you in advance. https://web.archive.org/web/20151203123041/http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?mode=hybrid&t=143536
  14. I have had absolutely no experience using the K-GFF Editor. Can you please explain to me how to use it. There is one item from a mod built by someone else as well as items that I have created myself that I want to add to the footlocker. Please provide any and all details very clearly. Thank you in advance.
  15. I want to know how to add items to containers in KOTOR. Specifically I want to add items from other mods and custom items that I created to the first footlocker on the Endire Spire. I cannot get them to appear in the custom items in the Inventory Editor of KOTOR Tool as shown in the image below. This way I can get them in the game itself without having to use a cheat code or the Save Game Editor. Please help me do this and provide all details. Thank you in advance.
  16. Thank you but unfortunately I have had serious trouble with this program as well. Every time that I try to open it all I get is a quick flash of a screen that looks like the command prompt screen and then it closes immediately. Would you be willing to help show me how to use the application? If not, would you be willing to convert the dialog.tlk to XML for me and get it back to me in another post please? I have attached here. Above all I need help with this: there are lines of dialogue that are present in the dialog.tlk file but do not show up in the dialogue files themselves. See the screenshots in my first post that started this topic above. I want to know how to access these hidden lines of dialogue so I can edit them for mods I am making. There also is another option. I know the some lines are StreRef files so they will not directly appear in a dialogue file, however there are dialogue files that they are connected. You can see them in the the Conversation Editor of KOTOR Tool as the attached image shows. The TalkEd shows details about the StrRef file but not the dialogue file it is connected to. If I could at least find that out it may be enough. I might be able to create my own dialogue file with the line of a particular StrRef file as text and attach the sound file to it. Do you know of any-way I can do that? Trying to go through each dialogue file on the Conversation Editor of KOTOR Tool will take forever. Please help me out. Thank you in advance. dialog.tlk
  17. I have never been able to get Xeroes Tools to work before. Is there anyway that you count convert the file to XML and get it back to me please? I have attached it to this message. I want to bring up the actually lines so I can edit them for a mod. Also if I cannot bring up the line in the dialogue editor then how do I find it? I want to know the specific dialogue file it is connected to so I can make changes if I want to. I am facing the same problem with other files so I want to get this right. Thank you in advance. dialog.tlk
  18. I am using the PC Version of Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic. Since you can see the line in the dialog.tlk file, do you know of anyway that I can view the line? I need to find it as I am working on creating my own script files and need to use that line. Thank you in advance.
  19. I am having trouble with some of the dialogue files for Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic, specifically: “k_sta_darthmalak”, at the moment. The problem is that some lines of text are not appearing in certain dialogue editors. The line that I am specifically looking for is: “I was saved from the darkness, Malak. You can be too, if you wish.”. As you can see in the enclosed image I could easily find that line when I used the Conversation Editor that is built into KOTOR Tool. But when I open it in the Dialogue Editor the line is not available even after I have opened all the options like show orphan lines. I have attached images of the Conversation Editor and Dialogue Editor with the “k_sta_darthmalak” file opened to show what I mean. I ask for help in getting ALL lines to show up. I want to edit dialogue with my own scripts as I am modding the game to extra enjoyment. I may be having the same problem with multiple dialogue files so I want to get it resolved so I can edit the files that I want. Thank you in advance.
  20. First of all I would like to thank you for responding to me. Hopefully we can get this taken care of in the near future. Once it is taken care of that will be all I need and I should not have to send you further messages and/or posts for the near future. For me I want to get this done so I can enjoy my game. This is the last point that I need help with and I want to get it done so we can both be happy. Also as for writing more script I did not mean that. I was simply trying to ask is it even possible to edit the script files to give your character more Force Points. I have done some more research online and it does not seem so. It appears that I can get more Force Points per level only by editing the Charisma and Wisdom Attributes and not by editing the script files. Therefore that is what I will do when I play the game. So now that point has been taken care of and I thank you for it. In response to what you said about forging ahead you said to place any problem I have in my thread so that is what I am doing. I wanted to tell you that I already have. I have been able get the crystals to appear in the game but there are still some problems. When I use the Save Game Editor to give myself the crystals I tell it to give me a total of 5. However when I open a workbench to try and open them it shows a list 2 separate lists of 5 crystals. When I try to select either of them it causes the game to crash. Furthermore it says that there is no description for the crystals when I put one in. The crystal file clearly shows this. I have followed examples done by other people who have added new crystals to the game exactly. I have included one such mod along with my files so you can see what I mean. I hope you can tell where the problem is. I ask for help in solving this because I have already tried 3 separate ways 3 times without success. Thank you in advance. Lightsaber Crystals.zip
  21. Good to hear from you again and thank you for getting back to me. I understand if you have been busy and have had trouble getting back to me right away. There are no hard feelings. Please take all the time you need to get your personal affairs and projects in order. I will admit though I greatly look forward to hearing from you. Yes, I took a look at the crystals.2da file and tried to add it the new crystals but I still need help to get the mod to work. It kept coming up saying I had a bad StrRef for the template. I can add the new crystal in but cannot get it to appear in the game. I have already tried posting a direct thread to ask for help but have not received any responses which is why I am asking you. I will especially need help here because I want to shown how to add new crystals as I want to create and add multiple versions of the Blue Color Crystal, a different one for each member of my team, with extra features included so I can get all the benefits of the enhancement crystals I want while keeping the color of the lightsaber blade Blue. I am not sure if changing everything for Dantoonie is necessary as I have seen mods where the Playable Character becomes a Jedi early and there is still no changes to what happens on Dantonnie. I know because I have used one before. I have attached it to this message so you can see it for yourself. Perhaps it will help you. I am hoping that once we get it resolved it will just as easy to make the changes for the mod for Zaalbar as well. I really want to just dive into the game. I took another look at my script files and made a few adjustments. I have attached the updated script files and crystals.2da file to this message in case you need them. Can you get everything to work now? Also I would like to know something. Can you use the script files to give yourself extra force points? If so how do I do it please? Thank you in advance. larrim_jedi_trainer_mod.zip Mod Files.zip
  22. I am asking for help with creating a mod I am working on. I am trying to create a new crystal for my lightsaber. I want to edit the Blue Color Crystal. Since it does nothing but affect on the color of the blade I know I will have full control of the features so I can decide what I want my lightsaber to have. I cannot use any of the other crystals because they are already hard-wired with specific aspects. I have seen new mods with new lightsabers and crystals so I am hoping for help me with this. I have the attached a copy of the .uti file that I have customized for the new crystal as well as the script files I am using for my mod so you can see what I mean. Can you please tell me what .2da files I need to edit, if any, or anything else I need to do to make the new crystal become available in the game? I may have to edit the scripts so my characters will be given it in the mod? Can you please tell me how to do that? Thank you in advance. Crystals.zip
  23. I see that you have not got back to me in almost a month so I decided to get back to you. I hope that you greatly enjoyed your Christmas holidays. I was wondering if we could get this mod finished? You can find the details I need help with in my post most recent post above. Thank you in advance.
  24. I know what you mean. It took me a long time to fully erase my hard drive, re-install the operating system, and get the updates back in place. Therefore I lost most of my weekend as well so I know how you feel. Good luck in getting everything back on track. I tried the mod again and here is what I got. When I installed it the first time with the files you set it worked just fine. But then when I modified the script in order to change which items my character gets, then reinstalled the mod, the new items would only appear in my inventory. When I tried to use a workbench to upgrade my lightsabers, the new item is not available. I am wondering if you somehow hardwired the script. The item I created, g1_w_sbrcrstl22, is the Heart Of The Guardian 2. It is an item not normally available in the game. I used the .uti for the Heart Of The Guardian item and then edited it with KOTOR Tool to give me the benefits I want. It is basically a simply mod in itself that I made. I hope this is not what is disrupting the script. Please be aware I will be editing the g1_w_sbrcrstl22 file later as I want to play around with it a little and make sure that I have everything just right. I ask you to please check the script files so I can edit which items my character receives as well as providing un-compiled scripts for all 3 Jedi Class for me. That way I can change them as I want and then compile them for the game. We can worry about Zaalbar once Weston is working right. I have attached the files to this post so you know what to work with. Thank you in advance. Mod Files.zip
  25. I have the 4 CD PC version. I am sorry but I do not know what you mean by "SecuRom shenaniganry". Good luck on the project you are doing for your old friend. I will trying the full reinstall today. Thank you for the good luck wishes. Once I have that done I will try testing the mod for Weston. I just hope I can change the scripts to alter the items I want to receive as desired. The part for Zaalbar will have to wait awhile. I will have to play the game through to that point. I do not want to take any shortcuts in order to make sure the mod is working correctly. I will let you know how things go. Thank you in advance.
