Editing Appearances And Help With A Few Things
ALPHA000102 replied to ALPHA000102's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Thank you for your reply. I have gotten the .utc files to work just fine. However there is one that I am still missing. I cannot find the .utc file for the Player Character (my character) for the start of the game. I am talking about the opening scene of the game where your character wakes up in the bed on the Endar Spire. In the default game settings your character is wearing nothing but their simple underwear. I have seen mods where the game starts and your character is shown in the bed already dressed in armor and/or Jedi Robes. Therefore I know you are allowed to change this so I am asking to be shown how. I want to be shown the files I need so I can change this. There is one item I want to equip my character with one particular item from the VERY beginning of the game. Can you please show me how to do that? Thank you in advance.- 8 replies

Help Editing Files With The Same Name
ALPHA000102 replied to ALPHA000102's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Sorry it has taken me awhile to get back to you. I hope there are no hard feelings. I believe this is what I need. It will take me awhile to test it though as I am working on some other projects. When I do get to it I will let you know how things turn out and whether or not it work. Thank you again very much. -
I am trying to edit the .mod files in the game, at least some of them. I know that many of the files in the game, whether they are dialogue, .utc, ,uti, or etc, share the same name. This can create an issue when you want to edit one in particular. I want to be shown how to edit the .mod files so I can rename a particular dialogue, .utc, .uti, and etc file and edit it with aspects like scripts or adjusting inventory or saying I want so the game will recognize it as a separate file and provide them. I have already tried everything in KOTOR Tool and Mod Project Tool. Can someone please tell me what I need to do and which program I need to use. Please provide step-by-step instructions. For an example I will use the dialogue file sc16_converse. There are two of them. One is located in 10. ebo_m40aa_s.rim and the other in STUNT_16_s.rim. I need to rename one of the copies so they will be recognized as separate for the TSLPatcher and the Override Folder. I was told to use the K-Giff program to locate but I cannot find them after using the program. I download all the mod files (the ARE, GIT, and IFO Files) from both s.rim modules with KOTOR Tool but then when I searched for the sc16_converse file there was nothing there. I have included a screenshot of the search I have tried looking at topics from others who faced the same issue but could not understand them. I may have made a topic about this myself once but was not getting any replies so I wanted to try again. I ask to please be shown how to locate the files I am looking for and how to edit the labels and values to what I want. That way I can rename one of the dialogue files then change the value in the .mod to match it. That way I can place both all the files in the Override Folder and be able to use them both at once with the changes I made. Please provide step-by-step instructions. Thank you in advance.

Two dialogues with the same name?
ALPHA000102 replied to DarthRevan101's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Could you please tell me how to do this? I am trying to edit the exact same dialogue files along with at least one more. I have made a post in the forum but have not gotten any response so I need to try something different. Again could please explain to me through step-by-step instructions on how to edit the dialogue files and the module files that go with them? That way I can edit the files that I need but also adjust the correct module files so I can use them all and avoid a conflict with the Override Folder. Thank you in advance. -

You can view it yourself below. Please provide step-by-step instructions. The files I want to edit are attached below. The numbers are only to tell them apart here. lightsabers Editing Placeable Items In KOTOR
ALPHA000102 replied to ALPHA000102's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
I was not able to get the .mod file to work. No matter what I did after multiple tries I could not get the container to spawn. However I was able to get around this problem. I was able to take a placeable file and its spawning script from another mod I have: the Utility Armbands. I would like to thank the creator of the mod, Star Admiral, for creating the mod and giving permission that the files can be reused in other mods. As he requested in the readme I grant him full credit for the mod as well. I have now actually been able to get the container to spawn but it is in the wrong spot. I want to be on the other side of the room and in the center of it. Can you please help me figure out what adjustments I should place in the location vectors. I have placed the files below so you can take a look at them. Thank you in advance. Container Files.zip- 14 replies

Can you please walk me through that step-by step? I am having trouble getting the scripts to work to spawn the container and I have already tried multiple times. I want the type of the container to be a metal box containing the Blaster Cannon weapon. Thank you in advance. Can you please walk me through that step-by step on the first option? I am having trouble getting the scripts to work to spawn the container and I have already tried multiple times and I have had absolutely no experience with the .mod files. I want the type of the container to be a metal box containing the Blaster Cannon weapon. Thank you in advance.- 14 replies

Editing Appearances And Help With A Few Things
ALPHA000102 replied to ALPHA000102's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
Thank you for your reply. I did some research and I believe you are right about the Old Hit Check. It is probably best to leave it alone so that is what I will do. And for the Sea Floor on Manaan, it appears that the need to wear the environmental suit is hardwired into the game and cannot be changed. But I will still need help with equipping Bastila with the same items throughout the entire game. I spent about 30 minutes working with the Bastila .utc file but did not have any success. Would you be willing to show me how? For example, could you please provide me step-by-step instructions that gives Bastila the Blaster Cannon (g_w_rptnblstr03.uti) on the Unknown World when you encounter her in the temple. I will especially need help working with scripts as I cannot decompile the scripts the game uses to edit them so I will have to make my own from scratch. Please tell me how to do this.- 8 replies

I have a few points with KOTOR that I am trying to resolve. First, in the dialogue files such as the one attached below, do you know what Old Hit Check means and what it does? I want to know in case it is something that I might want to deselect. Second, I know on Manaan that you have equip a special diving suit to venture out underwater. Do you know if this can be changed with a mod or is hardwired into the game? I ask because I know there is a mod that allows you to take your party with you so I am hoping that I can keep the armor, headgear, and weapons that I normally have my character wear. Finally I want to know how to change the outfit for Bastilla. What I mean is that after she is taken by Malak and turns to the Dark Side she is shown wearing a black Jedi Robe. I want to know how to change her outfit so she will be wearing what I equip her with when she is in my party. For example, when she joins my party I will equipping her was a Blaster Cannon rather than a lightsaber and the Verpine Zal Alloy Mesh armor rather than robes. I want her to still be carrying, using, and wearing those items during the scene where Malak starts to entice her and when my character encounters her on the Unknown World and Star Forge System. I have edited the appearance.2da file by adding a new line (Line 509) changed the modules lines to the outfit I want. I have attached it here so you can see it. Please tell me if I am wrong anywhere. Now I need to know which columns to edit and how to give her the miscellaneous items and weapon I want. Also I absolutely want her to be wearing a headgear item so which columns do I edit for that. If I need to create new columns for these results how do I do that? Then after I have the appearance.2da file set I will edit the appearance lines in the Bastila.utc files to give the appearance I want. Does that sound right to all of you? Can you please tell me how to do all this? I am willing to take another look but I need to know what I am looking for. Is there another file that I need to be using? Hopefully by looking at them you can tell me where I went wrong. Also I am asking all of you to please check my other forum about editing placeables at the link below. I am having trouble getting a metal-box container to spawn by script, especially in the place I want it to. Perhaps you can tell me what I am doing wrong. Thank you in advance. https://deadlystream.com/topic/6857-editing-placeable-items-in-kotor/ appearance.2da lev40_darthmalak.dlg

lightsabers Editing Placeable Items In KOTOR
ALPHA000102 replied to ALPHA000102's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
I was unable to get the whereami armband to work but I used the Orientation Armband from the Utility Armband Mod which did the same thing. I was able to get the orientation vectors but I am still have trouble. For the type of placeable I have taken a footlocker.utp file and given it a unique name so the game will recognize it as a unique item. I know how to use the GFF Editor to edit the inventory of the placeable as I have done it before. What I want to know is how do I get the placeable to spawn where I want it to. I want to appear in the same room on the Endar Spire where the player character first meets Trask under the window do the right but adjust the vector coordinates. To quote another forum: "In KOTOR Tool, the GIT (dynamic area info) is in the XYZ.rim along with the ARE (static area info) and IFO (module info).". I want to know how to do that. I want the footlocker to be facing towards the center of the room just as the one where you get your gear is located. I will wait to edit the inventory until after I get this matter resolved. I have placed my vector coordinates below and attached the placeable file I intend to use. Please tell me if I am wrong anywhere. Please provide step-by-step instructions for everything. Thank you in advance. Angle Orientation: 187.890487671 X Orientation: -0.990523279 Y Orientation: -0.137280092 Bearing Orientation: -2.995116711 footlker999.utp- 14 replies

lightsabers Editing Placeable Items In KOTOR
ALPHA000102 replied to ALPHA000102's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
I can see that you are right. I tried to use the GFF Editor to edit the contents of the Endar Spire Footlocker and it edited the contents of every such footlocker in the game. That definitely will not help me. I am willing to create a custom container but can you please provide me with specific step-by-step instructions on how to do it? For example, I am at a complete loss on how to get the XYZ coordinates on where I want the container to be. I know there are multiple type of containers available such as bags, cylinder containers, and footlockers. I want to spawn a custom footlocker. Finally after I can get it spawned how do I establish the inventory? Again please provide step-by-step instructions for the whole thing. Thank you in advance.- 14 replies

lightsabers Editing Placeable Items In KOTOR
ALPHA000102 replied to ALPHA000102's topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
I have been able to figure out the point with the K-GFF Editor however the item still not work entirely. According to the research I have done I will need to make edits to the scripts. The reason for this is that the footlocker I am using is not uniquely named so the game tries to place the items in each occurrence of the footlocker. Furthermore the items I am using are custom made, not those available in the game by default. I need to adjust the scripts so the items are included but only appear once in the first footlocker on the Endar Spire where you first speak to Trask. I have found some links that provide instructions which are included below but they are difficult for me to understand. I ask for someone to please provide step-by-step instructions on how I can create scripts and add my player made items to appear in the footlocker. Also can someone please tell me how to how change the links. I want all my links to be posted as text like the one at the bottom, not the image attachments like those shown below that automatically appear. Thank you in advance. https://web.archive.org/web/20151203123041/http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?mode=hybrid&t=143536- 14 replies

I have had absolutely no experience using the K-GFF Editor. Can you please explain to me how to use it. There is one item from a mod built by someone else as well as items that I have created myself that I want to add to the footlocker. Please provide any and all details very clearly. Thank you in advance.- 14 replies

lightsabers Editing Placeable Items In KOTOR
ALPHA000102 posted a topic in General Kotor/TSL Modding
I want to know how to add items to containers in KOTOR. Specifically I want to add items from other mods and custom items that I created to the first footlocker on the Endire Spire. I cannot get them to appear in the custom items in the Inventory Editor of KOTOR Tool as shown in the image below. This way I can get them in the game itself without having to use a cheat code or the Save Game Editor. Please help me do this and provide all details. Thank you in advance.- 14 replies
