About This File

From the first time I played KOTOR I’ve loved the Sith armor. Unfortunately, the Sith disguise you get in the game isn’t very good stats wise and you can’t keep it without cheats. For my second playthrough I decided to make my own set. Which then got me started on modifying the Sith weapons and its now become an entire armory.

First, I would recommend using A Future Pilot’s “Sith Soldier Texture Restoration” as the item description for the Sith Elite Armor is tailored for a game where the chrome Sith armor is relatively rare. I also think it is just a good mod that stylistically makes more sense. However, it will still work if you don’t use his mod; you’ll just have three armors that are chrome instead of just one. Mod Link: https://deadlystream.com/files/file/1289-sith-soldier-texture-restoration/

All the items are upgradeable.  I tried to strike a balance when creating the stats, so while they aren’t the best you can obtain in the game, they are in the high-end. I have also given lore descriptions for everything, if anybody cares about that sort of thing.

As of version 2.0, you can now find all the items in-game. The specific locations are stated in the Readme. I have also modified the Manaan Sith Base. Commander Grann now is force sensitive and wears the Elite armor. The room past the water chambers now contains the Sith Ambassador and two Praetorian bodyguards (both of whom are dark Jedi). There is also a Lite version for those who don’t want the enemies modified, though this will not allow you to find the Elite and Praetorian Armors until Leviathan.

WARNING: There is a visual bug where, while wearing the armor, the game will change your appearance so that even if you take it off, you will still appear to be in the armor. This is a bug that occurs with all items with the "Disguise" property and it is unknown exactly what causes it.  If this occurs and you want to fix it: unequip the armor, download the SaveGame Editor, and change your appearance back to what it was before.

I got the same character model glitch with a mod that allows me to acquire and wear Bendak's armor. I guess the game gets confused if you have one set of armor on for too long.

so.... these need to be cheated into game right?

how about the Taris' disguise firstly picked? do one of these replace that default disguise automatically or these are new armors as I suspect?

great work with the descriptions and properties editing btw for what I've seen in the utis. at least myself DO CARE about those     lol

Yes, you need to cheat them. I haven't made a way to get them in-game yet.

The only items that are overwritten are the "Sith Sniper Rifle" and "Sith Assault Gun". All the rest are unique.

Thank you! I'm glad you like them.

@Arctrooper209  thanks for quick reply  ;)

edit: about the disguise glitch.... did you save at least once with your Sith armor equipped? more than once (saving)?

or glitch happens even NEVER saving with the armor/s equipped?? how about saving with your companions with armors equipped?

Just did a bunch of stuff to make sure.

Loading a saved game with it on doesn't cause it, nor does engaging in conversation, entering a new area, using the workbench (saved & loaded afterwards), going on/off the Ebon Hawk, or going to a different planet.

I loaded a save once right after saving. Then I quit to desktop, went back into the game, and loaded the save a second time. Still no effect.

From what I can tell it isn't related to anything other than the amount of time you wear it. How much time before it occurs is unknown.

I see... but ... you also tried saving WITHOUT the armor on each time you saved, and after using awhile the glitch still occurrs?

my point is that this might happen ONLY if you save AT LEAST ONCE with these armors on. Even in companions maybe.

That's an interesting problem. If anybody has a save that's been bugged in that way, you could do the following to get more information:

  1. Load up the bugged save.
  2. Unequip any disguises.
  3. Transit to another area, either by warping or exiting through normal means.
  4. This will generate a file called pifo.ifo located in SWKotOR/Temp. Copy that file somewhere so it's saved.

This file contains everything there is to know about the player character. If you open it in K-GFF, you should be able to see your current Appearance_Type and maybe we'll be able to see if anything weird is going on.

In a save where the glitch has occurred, I took it off, went into several areas, and the glitch did not go away. When I did all the testing earlier I also equipped it on companions. As for whether it occurs if you use it even once, I doubt it. I did test a little with a save where I had equipped it once or twice before and it wasn't glitched, but didn't spend a lot of time with that save. I'm not sure what else I can do besides do a new playthrough and regularly check on it, and I'm not in the mood for doing that.

So on the bugged save Appearance_Type's value is 261. In appearance.2da line 261 is Sith_Soldier_03

Yeah, so it seems somehow your appearance was permanently changed to that of a Sith soldier. That means there's nothing you could do via regular gameplay to correct it.

I can think of two possibilities. One, there's some sort of bug in the save/load system and the game eventually forgets what your appearance is meant to be. Considering you were never meant to have a disguise item for very long in the game, it wouldn't be surprising that such a bug would go unnoticed. If it is that, though, we can't fix it, so it's not satisfying to think about that.

The other possibility is some specific scripted event in the game that bugs out. My guess would be something to do with the Leviathan capture - the theft of your inventory, or switching control to a party member, or the spacesuit walk, lots of possibilities there - or module transitions, maybe the rapid transit system. If it is something like this, then it should be possible to fix, but I imagine it would take a lot of testing to nail down exactly when the bug occurs... assuming of course it isn't a random save/load error.

So on the bugged save Appearance_Type's value is 261. In appearance.2da line 261 is Sith_Soldier_03

so you r saying ALL the fields from your player's appearance.2da row are switched to the  261 Sith_Soldier_03  row values in your saved game right?

well, manual appearance 2da edits "should" fix that .... ?  have you tried ?

(maybe the settings to 261 row values will re-set anyway after awhile, again?)

no chances of any "hidden timer" here or there that would eventually activate the appearance switch of values after certain time wearing the sith disguise?

No, the character's appearance has been changed to line 261 instead of whatever it was before. appearance.2da hasn't been changed at all.

I wouldn't expect so. The game doesn't spontaneously change your appearance once it's set. It isn't supposed to, anyway.

I took a look at a player file when equipped with a Sand Person disguise. Appearance_Type does change, but there are some other properties further down: PM_Appearance and PM_IsDisguised. It looks like those entries save information about the player's original appearance. So it could be something going wrong there instead.

Yeah PM_Appearance does seem to hold your original information. Using an unbugged save, with a disguise on PM_Appearance is 168, which is what Appearance_Type is without the disguise. Though of course on my bugged save they are both 261.

I've received new information that has made me suspect it's specifically the Leviathan capture that causes the bug, rather than a latent save error. My guess would be that the disguise property gets stuck on the player when their inventory is stolen, either because the item isn't unequipped in the usual sense or because there isn't enough time after it's unequipped for the appearance to reset correctly.

Whatever the case, I think the safest course of action would be to remove the disguise item before that point, maybe during the scene on the Ebon Hawk before the capture.

I agree with that, removing the armors before the Hawk capture.

Still, he (Arctrooper) had CTDs or problems in other areas not just that scene right??

No, no major problems except for the visual bug.

Also, a way to fix it after it happens would be to take the disguise off and then change your appearance through the save editor. You'd have to figure out what code you were before but that's another option.
