About This File

Note: An improved version of this is included in the KOTOR Community Patch starting with version 1.8

Throughout KOTOR 1 there are many models that are "lite" versions. Low-poly and low-res textures in order to help older computers. Since most computers can handle it fine now, this mod upgrades all possible lite models to full-res models/textures. (There are a few models that only have "lite" versions, and obviously nothing can be done).

Here's a list of all the models affected by this mod:

All Lite Commoner models (22 in total)
Lite Jawa
Lite Protocol Droid 01
Lite Protocol Droid 02 (No new model, but an upgraded texture)
Lite Rakata 01
Lite Republic Officer Male White
Lite Republic Officer Female White
Lite Selkath 01
Lite Sith Female Officer
Lite Sith Male Officer
Lite Sith Soldier
Lite Swoop Gang 01
Lite Twilek Female
Lite Twilek Male
Lite Wookie Male
Lite Wookie Female

Note: if you're planning to use the Sith Soldier Texture Restoration alternate installation, install this mod first.

Thanks! This mod works by changing appearance.2da to make the lite models use the same textures and models as their non-lite versions. The textures that are in the tslpatchdata folder are renamed version of default textures to make the commoners use them without having to adjust their inventory.

Something insane happened when I installed this mod. It didn't upgrade the lite models, it just made them all disappear! Wonder what could've caused that? I do use K1R and I have the KOTOR 1 Community Patch Installed, too.

What order did you install the mods in? Also, could you attach your appearance.2da file?

Spoiler

I installed K1R first before anything else. Oh and here's the appearanes.2da file:

I don't see anything out of the ordinary there. Do you have the N_CommXXX01.tga files in your Override? Also do you have any .mdl or .mdx files that start with N_Comm?

Also, specifically which models have disappeared? All of them? Just the commoners?

Yes, just the lite commoner models. Also, I tried deleting all the N_comm files and putting the backup into override. Then, I installed the mod again, but this did nothing.

I just uploaded a new version that fixes the issue :) Just download it and run the installer again

Thank you! Also, there's two great modders' resources out there that I think you should check out:

1. SpaceAlex's K1 Enhancement Project. SpaceAlex  never finished the mod, but left plenty of resources for other modders to use. It does the same thing your mod does and more. Some bugs need to be fixed on it, but from what I saw on Taris, the lite commoners looked AMAZING! If you could just take the appearances from that resource and use it with your mods, it would be a dream come true! https://onedrive.live.com/?id=AF290B5E544EBB56!121&cid=AF290B5E544EBB56 . There is also something that fixes invisible heads that appear with this modder's resource: http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/417-spacealexs-k1ep-invisible-head-fix/

2.  This resource has some great looking combat suits, perfect for making NPCs mroe diverse-looking! It's just some combat suits, but they'e pretty well-made IMO. https://deadlystream.com/files/file/726-modders-resource-specialized-combat-suits-for-kotor-and-tsl/

I just tested this mod and it works with K1R, at least on Taris.

CTD with K1R

Are you using any other mods? And where was the CTD?

just tested this on Taris, Manaan, etc, working ok. Now its worth to walk closer to those commoners for a brief chit-chat ....  ;)

havent seen the protocol droids and rakatas yet; going well with JC's Dense Aliens for K1 mod aswell no issues there.

must-have tweak to improve the visual experience of this game, I don't have K1R btw.
