Zhaboka 91 Posted April 11, 2018 I'll hold my judgments until I've seen it, but I really do have to agree that Alden probably wasn't the best choice for young Han, and for one major reason I'm sure he can emulate Ford's acting, and he kiiiiind of looks like him a bit, I guess? But the main thing that breaks immersion for me is he sounds absolutely nothing like him. His voice just doesn't have the right timbre. Harrison Ford is a guy with a pretty deep voice. Though not as much as now, it was somewhat gruff even when he was younger. He's the sort of guy who you can hear clearly even if he's talking to you from across a room. From what I've seen in the trailers, Alden's voice just isn't like that But eh, we'll see. I'm not all that invested in Anthology movies, anyways This is also my main gripe. Like this trailer much more than the teaser, though.
Hassat Hunter 571 Posted April 16, 2018 WARNING! MASSIVE SPOILERS! Although it's a rumour, if true, oh boy... this is going to be yet another massive disaster.
134340Goat 116 Posted April 24, 2018 Well, assuming the rumours are accurate I predicted a while back that it's possibly this Qira character would be a pretty heavy lead. Dunno if I like the idea Han technically not doing the Kessel Run, but to be fair, all he originally said is that the Falcon's the ship that made the run. Even then, it's not out of character for him to claim credit for it. Again, I'll wait until I've seen it to make any judgments. I'd be excited for Ian McDiarmid to cameo, and seeing the Senate again would be kickass That being said, this guy comes across as a bit of an asshole. Making Lando into a LGBTQ character somehow "ruins" him? Really? I mean, who gives a damn lol? Of course there will always be some homophobe shitheads who whine "it's forced diversity for the SJWs!", but really, who cares?
Ebony Moon 187 Posted May 7, 2018 I'll watch it, but, let's be honest, they haven't done Han right since they've took out Han shot first.
Hassat Hunter 571 Posted May 9, 2018 As much as I dislike the direction Disney is going, I have to be honest; that was George Lucas. None of that should affect this unless they're going to sneak in a stab to the scene.
134340Goat 116 Posted May 25, 2018 That was a lot of fun! Considerably more enjoyable than I'd gone in expecting. Bit of a slow start, and I wasn't fond of the colour palette, but overall, I really liked it. Got used to Alden as Han about a half hour in, and by the end, I actually thought he was pretty good 7.5/10 from me
UnusualCharacters 105 Posted May 26, 2018 Hey guys, saw Solo last night. I really enjoyed it! I also caught what I believe might be a KOTOR reference. I detailed what I heard in this video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMYTZQVsD0s Trying to keep the spoilers out of text format! As for the movie itself, probably my favorite of the new Disney ones. So refreshing after TLJ.
Hassat Hunter 571 Posted May 26, 2018 Me, I'm not going... I'll eventually watch it for free probably. No money from me going to LucasFilm after how they treat the fans and literally insulted us (what company DOES that?) It's sad if it harms a good movie (though from the sound of things, I really doubt it is) but a stance needs to be made. We can't just be insulted, ridiculed and belittled by a company that things we'll watch their next movie regardless. That'll play them right in their cards. So I laugh and am filled with "hope" (yes, there we go with SW-hamfisted terms) about all the news coming out of it being the most expensive SW-movie and projecting to bomb and actually make them a loss, not even JUST being the worst grossing SW-movie ever. Doesn't seem people will swallow anything LF dishes out and Stockholm Syndrome straight into cinema's still.
