Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

I do not mean them specifically. I mean the isolated area that they lived in. Could that not be the source of the dark side?

I don't believe they lived at all. In the context of the episode (the only canon material about them) I prefer to think of it as an extensive vision and warning to Anakin, I don't believe those concepts or that planet really even exists except on another plain of the force.

I thought the same, about it being a double meaning- Luke returns as a fully trained Jedi and Darth Vader returns to being Anakin, the Jedi.

Only Kylo Ren and Snoke apparently aren't Sith.

I bet you money Luke Skywalker won't die and the Son, Daughter and Father won't tie in.

KOTOR II adaptations lol.

Are those Kotor 2 adaptations? Must have subconsciously chosen those then. Hmmmm....

How about:

The Temple of Doom

The Dark Knight

The Two Towers

Catching Fire

Revenge of the Fallen

Huh... it's a bit weak for a title, but it fits the current mood of this trilogy. So far from what we know in this new canon of this trilogy, Luke is the only full fledged Jedi left in the galaxy right now. I'm guessing that something might happen to him either in this episode or episode 9. Rey most likely will take up the reins of a newer Jedi Order ( if rebuilding even happens).

Damn, another uninteresting and weak title. To be honest, I have higher hopes for the stand-alone movies than for the main trilogy at this point. Definitely excited for the former since Rogue One :D

Han Solo: A Star Wars Story

Yeah, sounds great :/

Let's rename it Gone in 12 Parsecs

Not the best title, true. But unlike TFA at least Rogue One was more interesting and exciting as a movie (IMO), despite the lackluster title. For me, this bodes well for the other stand-alone films.

IMO, Rogue one suffered from the same issues as TFA had, the only difference is the last 10-15 minutes were amazing and made up for 3 quarters of the movie being cringey and boring

Now that would be a good title!

Rogue One certainly had issues, to be sure. I just think they were less egregious than those which afflicted TFA.

EDIT: also why is the star wars logo red and not yellow? Maybe it could be a sign that something bad will happen in this movie?

Maybe the movie will be focused on villain's point-of-view?

That would certainly be an ambitious and interesting move. I doubt they'd actually do it though.

It'd be ambitious and I would love it, even if it did not work I'd give them a thumbs up for trying (Also, I always cheer for the villains in SW so make of that as you will).

The story is supposedly still focused around the Skywalker's so its possible we will get more of kylo. If I am right ep. 7 we get whiny anakin. Ep. 8 we get ruthless sith, ep. 9 we get redemption

Kylo and Snoke aren't Sith. JJ Abrams confirmed that even before Episode 7 came out. The Knights of Ren and Snoke are part of a new dark side order. How their believes differ is still unknown tho.

This kinda mimics how the Jedi Order changed their ways over the years. During the Prequels we see them turning to scientific methods to find potential Jedi and banninga ll sorts of emotions. But in the original trillogy, we see that Yoda and Obi-Wan don't seem to believe in those teachings anymore. And in the end it was fatherly love that made Darth Vader turn on the Emperor and save the galaxy. So I think that Luke will teach Rey in a different way. Some way that makes her more than Jedi, leaving him as "the last Jedi".

It's funny you mention them trying a more scientific approach. I like to imagine midichlorians were something Qui-Gon Jinn kept trying to push and the Jedi council mostly just humored him. Notice there was no mention of it ever again after his death!

But yeah, I suppose if you were to look into the Legends canon, you could probably find a discernible evolution of Force theology over the ages. By the time of the prequels, it sounds like they were big into taking young children and indoctrinating them, something that Yoda still seems to think, as he mentions in TPM and ESB

Palpatine talked of midichlorians in Episode III.

Kylo and Snoke aren't Sith.

Right. And if you ask Kreia, neither was Vader or Revan.

Gotta admit it's a really uninspired title, but I'm excited to see more of Mark Hamill.

Hey I've got a question to those of you who actually still follow what's going on with Star Wars, has Disney released anything (books, comics, whatever) that doesn't take place during the movie era? They seem to be really milking times between 3 and 4, with R1 and Han Solo and whatever else they're doing, but I don't follow this stuff closely enough to know if there was anything from other periods.

There's a few prequel comics and mentions of the old Republic but no story set during.

I don't get what this has to do with anything. Kreia is a Legends character, her views don't matter when it comes to the Knights of Ren, as they are a part of the Canon timeline.

Philosophy s change over time. If that were the case, Luke would be no more a Jedi than Rey would be. He never really followed the Jedi code to a t, he did what he believed was right (he even uses dark side powers in rotj) As for snoke and kylo, I believe JJ confirmed kylo not to be sith. Nothing was confirmed or denied about Snoke. Even if he is not Sith, he follows similar ideal's from what has been shown about him and Snoke still hungers for power

Prequels to what? Prequels to E7 would count as the movie era.

I'm just trolling because I'm bored

Ahhh crap. I haven't seen Episode III in a while, I better re-assess my theory...

I guess I don't know what I was expecting. That said, it's not as though any of the Star Wars movies are brilliantly titled. There's currently four that follow "The X of the Y" template, so in my book this is kind of refreshing.

Luke would be last known person in the galaxy that has been trained as a Jedi. Even if his believes were different from what Yoda and Obi-Wan had told him, he would still be considered a Jedi. Most people would call him a Jedi regardless because the general public seems to know next to nothing about the Jedi Code anymore by the time of TFA.. Even the Rebellion and it's heroes are legends by then.

It would make little sense for Snoke to be a Sith and train his apprentice(s) as something different. Their goals and ideals are probably similar, but I strongly believe (and hope) that they are a new kind of dark side religion. Having the Sith as the main bad guys for another trillogy would be kinda lame. Disney also shys away from the prequels at the moment and these movies established the Sith Order to the main audience of Star Wars. (I know that it was mentioned in the original trillogy but nobody really knew anything about them other than Vader being the "Dark Lord of the Sith" until the prequels)

No, I meant comics during the prequels, most of the new content is based around the Original Trilogy.

There are no individual stories set before The Phantom Menace in the new canon, apart from mentions in Star Wars: Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Well, there are they're just really short stories.

Example:

Darth Bane created the Rule of Two.

The End

Did they redo Bane story or just referenced it to make it "canon"? I read Darth Bane books and I thought they were pretty cool.

Seeing the crawl always gets me excited, though. Imagining seeing it on the big screen makes me more excited than any trailer could.

This is what we know of Bane in canon:
