KotOR 1: Solari crystal not restricted

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I noticed that the description for the Solari crystal expressly specifies that it should be restricted to Light Side use. The game is not consistent with this though as it can be happily assembled into the lightsaber of my very dark protagonist.

There are two solution: either we amend the description or we really restrict it to Light Side.

My preference would be for the latter, even for lore reasons.

The 2 Suvam Tam crystals remove the Light Side restriction.

You got one of them as your color?

You knew that just off the top of your head?

That's what happens when you mod the game too much. I could probably name off between 50 and 100 scripting functions right now. We all remember some random bits and pieces of KotOR. I still remember the templateresref for the Boma because of some scripting experience I had back in November of last year. I spent a few days trying to make a custom function work, and I was using the Boma("c_boma01") as a test subject...

No, I did not. I am using a simple violet crystal.

Yes. And since I never modded KOTOR1 it's not that, I just remember it from gameplay.

Violet? There's no violet in KOTOR1. You mean purple?

If purple as soon as you enter it, it should get the LS/Neutral alignment requirement and it will be unequipped from DS characters if they used it.

A little off-topic, but I love putting Qixoni and Solari crystals in my lightsabers. The light side and dark side restrictions cancel eachother out. :D

Lol, that's good to know. I thought that would just make-it unusable...

Well, it seems that all works as intended.

I don't know what kind of glitch I've been experiencing or if I just got confused in the process but the lightsaber with the Solari crystal in is correctly flagged as non equippable for Dark Side characters.

My bad.

I understand that the Suvam Tam Crystals allow you to use the Solari Crystal while DS, but the scrypt "Light Side: +2-12 energy against Dark Side" Doesn't change. Does this mean you only get the other listed abilities from Solari and not the added bonus against the DS? or does it just not change the scrypt?

EDIT: To clarify, my character is DS and with the Mantle/Guardian I can use solari which has is regular stats but also the 2-12 vs dark side bonus. my question is, as a DS character, am i still getting that 2-12 bonus? or just the regular stats

Everyone has an instinct or something they can easily remember off of the top of our heads, thats just how our brains work.
