I've spend some more time on Bastila. The skin has been altered, not overly much. But just kept tweaking a few areas... contrast values etc... Endlessly
Hair and eyes are back to how she really looks. I just need keep it up. Her lips are still the original color of the model I used as a basis. Also the ears need an update still.

Are you planning on giving Bastila a more "natural" look to her face? IMO, her face proportions have always seemed a little off and... robotic I guess?
Basically, whatever helps her match concept art a little more closely.
Yes, the idea is to get it close to the look I had for Canderous. I'm not going to alter the model... yet.
The her nose looks different though, on the model it's more like a button. I might look into it.
But I like to keep the re-skin mods simple.
Doesn't Bastila have blue eyes? Green don't serve her face well, and I think you should reduce her wrinkles, she's not forty.
And, for my tastes, a bit darker hair would be highly appreciated.
Lol; I was playing around with the colors of her hair and eyes. And wrinkles? Her face looks very flat right now
I used a different method from the one I used on Canderous and it shows. I'm not content so far.
Which Dantooine reskin are you using Quanon?
Boy, Cache71 PM'ed me a mod package, including a game wide re-skin. To test it out and have a peek at. Every area has been changed. Lots of items... etc...
It's top quality, but I don't think it's up and released just yet.

I think the gold looks fine myself. You could try changing it to silver if you want a bigger contrast. I assume those bits will be getting an envmap?
I love the gold/ red look, I'm a big fan of Khorne
And, yes, envmap is a must on things like these.
Sounds like you had a blast
I'd say to try replacing some of the gold with silver highlights (the same colour as the chain mail) so that it ties in with the mask. Then you could also add in some bronze details too. Or maybe tone down the gold, by desaturating it to a lighter gold alloy?
Whenever I'm trying to think of ornate clothing patterns, I have to Google "chasuble" for images. You can't get much more elaborate than religious vestments. Here's one you might find particularly appropriate as a colour sample
Hahaha, yeah; had a serious hangover on Sunday... still tired on Monday
But it was a blast indeed.
Thanks for the input, I'll finish up this garish Q version first. I'll then alter it a bit to fit with a more silver/ metal look.
I did start working on Bastila, early beginnings so far; lots of tweaks needed:
Bit of a mess around her eyes, need to get back some contrast, skin details are not visible. Perhaps some extra grain... Her hair is something I'm testing...
Lips need a touch up too. Got my work cut out for me

Have you considered trying bronze instead of gold? It might suit the red better.
I guess that would be more orangy hued.
Can't really think straight right now. I had a bit of a party evening, hang on to a steel beam in the bar, then played in a bear fountain... I was suddenly a bit sticky
Rather crazy stuff going on, but really fun!
Ahum, not really the point. I'm open to suggestions. As I feel this skin isn't finished just yet. And it might, come down, to changing the color .
Anyway, tomorrow a in-game test, just to see what really pops out and is worth investing in.

That looks like something that should be restricted to Dark Side
I kinda figured that you'd up the resolution before working on it. Mine were a little more simplistic, so I was ok with leaving them at 512x512. I especially like the detail you go to for making the mask a bit more unique. Looking good Q, I can't wait to see it in glorious Baremetal shine
Hahaha, I just wanted to add in a few smaller details and at 512x512 it just didn't work out the way I wanted it. So I redid the skin at 2048x2048.
Work continue at a nice pace, since I knew what I wanted already.
Added in the armor plates, well, they're more decorative then real protection. Still need a bit of work.
The boots got extra studs and added a bit of chain mail to the mask. Wondering if these should also go "gold" or not.
Even wondering if it wouldn't be better if I kicked out the gold color...
The clothing looks a bit flat in the renders; I'll have to do a test run in the game.

No fear, once I get Canderous done for K1, I'll see to it he gets a spot in TSL.
Although he never shows his face? This might need some 2DA editing then... Or just change his outfit outright?
Anyway, as any modder I'm up into a lot of little on running projects. This one is a part of a pack, which is made by a few fellow modders.
Here's a peek on my take of things. Not fully happy with it, might do it over.
I do like the colors, some of the detail I got, but it needs further tweaking and shaping. Plus a larger size. Working at 512x512 was a mistake on my part.

Time for you to upgrade to the 21st century and the wonders of mesh painting, young Padawan.
I've been wondering about that...
A next step in the learning process
Getting the same look for Canderous in TSL shouldn't be a problem. I've reworked the skin. I don't really consider it porting if this gets used in TSL.
Neither do I think any of Devs really care anymore... Kotor games, are, what? 10+ years old?
-
After a very late night/ early morning session of Kotor modding extravaganza madness. I still felt I had to keep rolling.
After fixing Mission, I returned to Candy and worked on his pyjamas.
I made good progress; getting the hang of this naked flesh thing
So far his torso, arms and legs, plus underpants are done.
Might need some minor fixes to blend the seams better.
Details left, the tattoo, which... *sigh* Bioware UV mapped in 2 parts.
One at the top and one at the bottom of the skin layout. Which means getting it all lined up will be bitchy.

Could it be, that the mesh, I would guess a simple plane, is facing in the wrong direction. Instead of "projecting" the texture forwards it does so in the other direction. Making it not appear.
It's something I never fully figured out how to tell MDLops or Kaurora that certain flat, mostly plane meshes, are 2-sided.
Showing the texture in both directions instead of just 1 facing...
Just an idea that popped up.

File Name: Quanons Mission Vao Reskin
File Submitter: Quanon
File Submitted: 01 Nov 2016
File Category: Skins
K1R Compatible: YesThis mod replaces all Mission Vaos textures. She will have an updated skin
which has a bit more detail. It does keep the classic look from the game.
This is version 1.1, minor tweaks have been made. Mainly the head texture.-

A newer version is avaible!
Things that got fixed or tweaked:
Both head and body texture now have proper "shiney" effects.
Looks like I never included the TXI files o_O
Her tongue is now at least colored and not glaring white!
The eyebrows have been raised, which changes her look. Less grumpy looking.
A minor seam on her lekku should now be less obvious.
-
I like it! And glad that you opened a new WIP thread DI.
It would be a shame to have let all that work you've done in the dust.
Like the idea of the arena on Tatooine, really fits well. And Rhen Varr, a prime example what you can do with reskins of modules
Always liked your mods, some of them are smaller tweaks and improvements to the game which sometimes does the most to make it more fun.
Looking forward to the next release!
When does your team start recruiting again? -
So, it's 2:17, I'm up from 4:00, did my job, then started to some modding work... Damn, this sucks up time fast!
Did final tweaks on Mission and Canderis. Correcting the low eyebrow on Mission, fixing the seam on her lekku and less shadow under the chin.
Sadly, I somehow lost her Alpha channel. I need to redo it properly. Now it's too strong and it kills the effect I had before.
Not sure how I did this... Looks like it's not in my released mod even... o_O
Canderous also had a minor chin line that needed fixing. Then I did another test run, got into some fights, just enjoying the show.

I think that you've captured the grizzled look really well. Although, he does look like he's got some mad razor burn along his jawline
Pesky photo shadow?
Eh, yeah... That's something that slipped my attention
A little clean up should set that straight.
Go those boots finished and a few other minor details.
ZZ Top, sharply dressed men, yes, indeed
Ingame test round, the alpha channel doesn't show up on Dantooine. Looks like the darker the areas, the more you see it.

The placement of the head elements is the same, but Canderous has got a beard and his skin tone is Caucasian instead of Asian. I think that it better fits an old man (although according to Wookieepedia, he wasn't old enough to get a retirement pension in Poland).
He has a beard in TSL? How cool. Have to look into that
But with how my Photoshop file is setup it shouldn't be to hard to get a TSL version of his head out after this K1 version.
I've started work on his clothes, the ones he wears when you first meet him on Taris.
Working on his boots, replacing those metal frames.
Vest, shirt and pants are done. The tattoo needs a tweak. It's just not there yet.

Nope, Force Fashion project is a TSL mod, and this is the skin for K1, although this armor looks awesome and I would like to know which mod does it come from, because it fits Canderous very well.
And I would love to see Canderous K2 texture remastered, because I'm going to mąkę a mod with Mandalore's removable helmet and visible body models (which will take some time, because I can't get my TSL to work on my computer and I have an idea how to make the removable helmet Andrzej body models for an unmasked version, but I have no clue how to mąkę masked visible body models) and although the concept of the K2 texture is good, the quality of it is awful, although still better than the armor).
I believe the head model and skin will be the same for both games, TSL re-uses a lot from K1, so using this version I have of Candy in TSL shouldn't be a problem
There was a Force Fashion TSL mod that was released which only had robes I do believe, I think there was a Fashion WIP project, that stretched into armors and masks AND robes. I believe that a lot of people were involved with in the K1 project. Below is some pictures of some of the things created, with the Canderous armor I think is above. All pictures I've saved from Jonathan7's Lucasforums picture album.
Canderous Armor:
Yeah, Jonathan passed me a "beta" version of his Force Fashion for Kotor 1. I did some masks and a few new skins to go with it.
First pic on the left is an armor with my name on it ^^
The masks in the third picture are also done by me. And of course, the Mando armor is also from that mod.
I don't think Jonathan ever finished it up, because, the mod does cause some bugs. The dialogue with Carth got broken after Dantooine. Some of the skins and models don't match.
And one of the armors makes me look like a eJedi Rodian
Then of course I might have cause a few of the bugs my self, by doing some modding of my own. Bit of a mess in my override
WOW that sure is a step up from the vanilla skin. His face is like a real human face instead of a frozen mask!
Thanks ^^

Looks great! I love his facial expression.
One thing I'd personally change though is to add some grey to his hair to give it a little more texture.
I imagine adding the grey would be more beneficial for the K2 version of Canderous' head, Kexikus.
I've been playing around with the grey hair. Couldn't decide if I wanted him just a bit older looking or not.
He needs some eyebrows bad!
Looking real good so far though!
Hahaha, no fear, I've fixed that
I redid the hair just yet again. As it just didn't feel right to me. The version I now have... It could be improved, but I must admit I sort of suck in this hair thing. I can't get the look a 100% right to my liking.
But after spending hours in Photoshop and quick previews in Max, I just dropped my files in the game and had a look.
And... well, it looked good
Spending too much time up close with the texture I forget that in the game it always looks a little different and that you're never really super up close to the other characters.
I'll now start to do the last details, his ears and after that on to Candies clothes and underwear skin. Whenever this gets released, I might just pack up the other "hair' version of his head and let the people decide which one they want to use.
Some shots from in the game:

Today, I got a little more done, mainly the scars.
The hair line needs serious tweaking; it's a real pain to get it right

Canderous seems very nice. However, I wonder how could he look with some kind of stubble (I mean a little bit of facial hair, I'm not Polish and that's how my dictionary called a three-day beard) and more realistic eyes.
Loving the wrinkles on ol' Candy's face.
Glad you like his grizzled look so far; I've added in a stubble
It's subtle, but it's there!
Today I had an attempt at painting his hair. It turned out better then I expected.
I just need redo the line where the hair meets the forehead. That looks really bad now.
It doesn't line up at all
Then I need to tweak the scars and match up the skin on the back of his neck.

They all look good. I don't understand the texture image and how it maps to the model. I look at it and have a hard time wrapping my brain around it. I can understand what part of the texture goes where, but how it goes on... I mostly don't know because I don't really care enough to know.
One thing though about the Orange Twi'lek. The texture in the small region in the front between the dark blue and green striped outfit and the breasts looks off from the rest of the skin. It goes from a smooth looking texture to a sudden rough and rigid look.
The mapping, uses what they call a UVmap. It's something you have to create once you"re done modelling your... eh, model.
Put simple you have to unfold your model, so that it is easier to "paint". Ever made a cube out of paper? Just that but, well, backwards
Ofcourse the twi'lek model has a lot more sides and lovely curves then a cube
I gues you must be talking about the gold plate? Or would that be the body lace/ mesh she"s wearing.
I've altered the gold details a bit, the lace I have gone back and forth on it. Make it more dark? Enlarge detail of it?
Couldn't decide really.
Here's how things look on the orange twi'lek so far.
In the game. Look twins!
Oh, and an early start on this lad:
Big thanks to sir Clint Eastwood, for being a donor

You could check out the KOTOR comic I guess. They had a bit of Hidden Beks stuff in a few issues as I recall. There are probably some outfits that could be used as inspiration, although you are probably pretty limited without custom models.
You could always try condensing the UVs 50% to fit them both within 0 to 1 space, then sticking both textures side-by-side as a single 1024x512 texture. That would allow you to do DS transitions.
Good idea, I have a few of the comics lying about. I'll check it out.
There are several good logos in the texture lsl_logos.tpc
Thanks for that tip SS! I wasn't aware of those.
Allthough, with the mirroring of the UVmap, it might look mighty silly. But I'll see what it gives.
Luckily, I got home early from work and spended more time on another Twi'lek skin, this time the orange version.
IIRC, each twi'lek also has a low poly counterpart, where body and head are 1 model and also 1 texture... Might have to look into that on how best to replace that as well.
Hopefully, the UVmaps are a bit the same.
So here's progress on the orange version, glad I spend more time now on the Alpha channel as well. It really pays off in the game.

Good thing I have already grabbed it from Nexus Mods. I prefer the Grey-yellow undies.
May I suggest something? Once upon a time, RedHawke1234 released his skin for Mission that changed her grey trousers to shorts. Maybe you could try to recreate it? I tried to merge them both in GIMP, but RedHawke's version is 248x248 and yours is 2048 x 2048. And I just hate the fact that Mission dresses like a soldier when she should wear more "teenage" clothes.
No fear, I was planning on releasing a package with more variations. I was thinking of a more "punk" look for Mission. Altering how the jacket looks, her shirt (some sort of logo? Suggestions are welcome
) and some other details on her boots. Plus the addition of more skin tones, going for classic green, red and yellow. Perhaps also adding extra color and texture to her Lekku/ Tentacles.
Though I was now working to get a few little fixes done on her face first. I always appreciate feedback on anything I make.
-
I seem to have corrupted your spelling of the character's name!
Lol
Yes, you have corrupted my memory!
No, news on that skin just yet. So, for now, you can keep your skin
I have been further tweaking the earlier posted Twi'lek skin. I started in-game test run to see how the alpha channel worked out.
I really like the look I got now. The skin color however, remains a pain in the behind to get it right.
It's far to bright and yellowish right now. So that's back to Photoshop to get that sorted.
Overall, I think the rest of the skin works out just right.
Oh, that head skin is made by Cache71 though, not my work.
Quanons many projects.

I'll keep that in mind, I might cut of the whole hair and do something a bit different. But that is a big IF, right now.
I'll focus first on getting her "vanilla" look updated. There's a lot of testing and redoing when altering models.
It is a huge time drain.
So, I've been working at Bastila's clothes. Not finished yet and in 3Ds Max I seemed to have wrecked her flaps. :-s
And I also forgot to include them in my UV-map, which means the idiot I am, I didn't work on those yet...
I only noticed it all when I took a test run in the game
Though another test run did reveal a small issue still on her head skin. So I need to fix/ tweak that again.
It does help to run around with a new skin on all the planets. Each has a different lighting setup and it is odd how that makes things pop-up or soften.
So things left to do: armor flaps, belt and the little pouches on her belt.
Then the underwear model... Does she has a third model? When you free her on Taris?
