  1. Ever so slowly, adding and tweaking things. There hasn't been major changes.

    I did take my skin for a spin in the game. Tatooine has some harsh bright lighting.
     

    It does make the yellow pop a bit much. I might take the skin for a tour on Manaan or the Unknown world.

    Those have a more blue/ white sunlight. 

     

    I am having a hard time on whether to choose to dump the hexa pattern or keep it... It works and at other times it looks too noisy in the game?

    Hmmm... Keep it or lose it?

  2. Too raunchy for me, but I can see how Jolee's shorts would be unappealing for people. 

     

    Yeah, it's not subtle >_>

    I think I could do a cleaner version of what I have in mind.

     

    Any way you (or someone) could adjust the model for the Twi'lek dancers? The way it looks in-game always bothered me, like they were wearing body paint. There was no dimension to it.

     

    Are you talking about the dance animations/ moves? Or the look of the models?

     

    Haven't done much on it today; just added in clasps/ buttons to the straps. Played around with some rendering stuff in 3Ds Max.

    She's been hit with a hammer, really odd look :laughing:

  3. A few pages back I was working on the Twi'leks, Green one and Orange ladies where done.

    So I had an idea for the lighter yellow alien hotness. :laughing:

     

    I feel I've reached a certain... uhm... Skyrim mod vibe with this one :o

    Skimpy pimp stuff.

     

    Anyhow, a preview of sorts; mind I've only done basic work. Finding a good layout.

    Bit trial and error on the body suit style. Needs extra details... More work like always!

     

    The head skin is done by Cache71. I'm matching the body to it, so people can easily mix up our mods.

    As she already released a set, but I like the idea people can choose favourite outfits.

    Quanons Gammoreans Reskin Pack:

     

    This little mod will update all the Gammorean skins. All of them had their size increased to 1024x1024.
    I've been able to put in some extra details, on the faces; better looking eyes. Leather look to their armors.

     

    Tweaked the contrast/ brightness; etc... A good overall polish to make them their best, even though they are pigs :laughing:

     

    Installing:

     

    Copy and paste all 5 files from my pack.

    I haven't done much last week, but I worked a little on the other piggies; mainly the blue one.

    Started to add a few details on him, so he looks a bit more different. 

     

    I do need fix a few seam issues, on both the reskins though. It's very obvious on the top of his head :o

  6. I think it needs more in the eyes. Otherwise, Awesome!

     

    Fear not my fair damsel, I just haven't touched up the eyes... yet... in that previous update.

    My main focus was on the armor and skins parts. 

     

    But you'll like this update though, the eyes have a new hue to match the rest :D

    I did a few other minor fixes, also checked out the other Gamorrean skins.

     

    Version 2 (blue one), will need some redoing, as the armor is different in looks. I might also have to adjust the face a bit.

    The blue armored pigs look to be older, even more grizzled.

     

    The other variants will need less work, they are just recolors basically. Of course I might add a few bits and bobs of my own; to make it all a bit more unique one to the other.

    I'm talking minor details, extra studs on the kneecaps, different armor shapes... etc...

  7. Will these alien skins be usable in TSL too?

     

    Yes, I don't think Obsidian renamed all the textures? Anway, else it's just a matter of renaming and the games should use my skins.

     

    As much as I like staying true to the look, Gamorreans are some of the worst looking NPCs in the game

     

    They have 2 models. One is a low poly version, which has the axe attached to them, you encounter these in the sewers on Taris.

    Then there's a second model, which has just a bit more detail to it, those are the ones you talk to. Them "hunters" on Tatooine.

     

    There's nothing much I can do about that. Though replacing the lowpolys with highpoly in the UTI files, then giving them that new axe SithSpecter is modelling should be a nice update ;)

     

    The fake slime always creeped me out. Why does almost every non-humanoid bad guy in Star Wars have tons of mucus? Still, anything that makes the game more immersive gets my vote.

     

    I'll give them an alpha channel, should give them some shiny effect :P

     

    Worked on it some more this morning. I got an extra day off from work! Using it to the fullest :laughing;

    Redone the face, just the bottom lip needs to be redone and horns, applied a new metal texture, cleaned up a few tiny mistakes here and there.

     

    I'm adjusting the sandals, I don't like the toes, Turning it into an metal cap instead.(Not yet done that though ;) )

  8. So lots of folks have been asking on what characters I might do after the K1 party members. And Jolee is close to being finished.

    The first big one is not a character in the real sense, SH made the suggestion; The Ebon Hawk!

     

    Been pondering a bit on how I would tackle it. There's have been already a few HD variants released for the Hawk. 

    Still the Hawk is a big part of the game, so giving it a proper "update" is what I'll do :P

    I've also been thinking on various favourite NPCs of mine. And I feel the Swoop Racers are something I could do.

    I want to give them all an outfit to match. Not just these regular looking lads you come across on each planet.

     

    A proper unique look and feel, restyling. With great joy I announce to been working on the pig. Gamorrean!

    Doing a proper update on the old skin first, then the unique look for the racer.

     

    Like that I know the model a bit better and I kill 2 or 3 birds with one stone!

    Mostly did work on the leather armor, minor skin work (just trying out an effect)on the arms and legs. Haven't touched the face just yet.

  9. Found a bit of time today to start on Jolees clothing. Just applied textures like leather, cloth for his pants and his undershirt. No details just yet.

    It's a fun skin to do, easy to work on. It's all very clear what is what on the model.

  10. I've been looking into that, and I think that you can get away without having to do any uvw edits. If you extend the mustache texture down so that it covers the upper lip texture, it should solve most of the weirdness. That whole part of the model should be mustache that overhangs the upper lip. The actual upper lip model is uvw mapped to two completely separate areas (the main area is below the teeth, the other is to the right of that). I've made up a quick version to illustrate that, and hopefully you can use it as a guide:

    Shame though they split up the UVmap on his upper lip. I tried to get it to look like his bottom lip, but it just doesn't work really well.

    The UVs are scaled differently so it creates very obvious seams.

     

    So, it remains a dark upper lip, "painted" on permanent shadow for grandpa Jolee. :P

    Did a test run in the game, it looks OK so far.

  11. Quanon are you actually a Sith? LOL. Personally, the only thing I'd do to Juhani is make her eyes with a tinge of green simply because her eyes are Movie Sith's.   

     

    Hahaha, I might be ;)

     

    Jolee will need some 3d work on his head model. The back of his upperlip, on the inside of his mouth, drops down. It obscures his teeth, it's really odd looking when trying to take screenshots.

    This must be one of the worst model faults I've seen. The other party members have some faults on their head model, but it's all less obvious. You really need to focus to spot it.

     

    But with Jolee it's just visible whenever you go in close-up shots. I'll have to do some learning, it's been a very long while since I dabbled with head models and fixing UVs.

    I might finish the skin first? Not sure what to do first.

     

    As I fear this model fix thing might take some time...


  12. I haven't said I'm completely rejecting his project. What Cache71 did is using Quanon's work under his permission and fixing some bugs and making it subtly less monotonous than vanilla schemes. I have said that I would be probably waiting for this subtle fix, as it covers mostly the eyes, if Cache71 is planning to do so. Everything apart from the eyes and the forehead looks really nice, and as Quanon mentioned, forehead hasn't been touched yet. So I mean I'm looking forward to both Quanon's reskin and a fix that will make eyes look better.

     

    No worries SuperSzym, you aren't hurting my feelings or anything. I'm glad you enjoy my work and the edits Cache71 has done on them. I've been in contact with her via PM now and then, sharing previews on our work on various skins.

    I've been learning things and she has improved her skills, just by sharing, which by my book is really what I enjoy the most in this community.

     

    It's great when you can encourage each other to improve. I do this modding because I really just get a lot of pleasure out of it, by creating things. Releasing it for public, getting some little  fame, is the cherry on top ;)

     

    Good job. One of the issues with Jolee is he is bald and wrinkled. So everywhere there is a hard seam/cut, there is going to be difficulty in hiding that. Why they put those on the front of the forehead is beyond me. It almost makes one want to smooth out the head geometry a bit and then paint new skins on the modified head.

     

     

    Yeah, I hope I can get that more smoothed out and less visible. It'll require some extra tweaking and testing. I expect this to take most of the time.

     

    Couple questions for you:

    1) I know before you said you wouldn't be doing Juhani, due to her already having a great redesign that you helped create, but those textures are 512, would you consider remaking them into 2048 to match the rest?

    2) Have you considered doing NPCs like Malak, Calo, Davik, etc.

    3) Do you have plans to do the TSL party members?

    Anwsers:

     

    1) I don't have the files anymore from those old skins, so I would need recreate it all from scratch. I really don't feel I can improve on it by just doing a bigger size.

    2) Yes, I have. I believe Calo is one I would like to do first. As I just don't like his look in the game.

    3) Not at this time. I would like to do Sion first. He's one of my favourite characters in the game :D

  13. With T3-M4 out of my way, I now started work on the oldest party member. Everwise and cranky, senile Jolee Bindo.

    Most of the work has gone into adding the wrinkles and beard. 

     

    As always, this is a first look at the start of things. I'm sure you all know how much can change in an update ;)

    So don't worry to much about color to much yet. I'm in the progress of adding in the details for the skin.

     

    But here's a look how things look. I replaced Zaalbar with Jolees model.

    Redrob is correct though. Jolee's head model has a few odd flaws. There's something odd about the upper lip; it just looks wrong.

    There's also some HARD cuts on the forehead, so things don't blend nicely going from his face/ forehead to his scalp/ top of the head.

    Another update to a party member, this time the little astro-droid T3M4.
    Like all my other releases, the texture has a larger size, added details, more crispy looking good stuff!
    And it stays faithfull to his Bioware look. So, yes, baby blue paint job still ;)

     

    Really easy to install: copy all the files to your override! And done!
    Just check out the renders and screenshots to know if it is to your liking.

    Though it isn't exactly a mod but a resources pack, never got around to finish the mod he had planned (it's in particular the last two that I remember, like them quite a bit :}), besides this I've never seen them on other mods, but there could always be some mod unrelated to the lightsabers themselves that includes them so that you don't really see from the get go they're included and I missed it °°.

     

    Anyways I'll keep them safe somewhere for next time I decide to start a new game.

     

    I believe I passed them to that TSL mod, where you can craft your lightsabers; giving unique models on what you put together. Did that ever get released fully?

    yeah i have a copy of some of those too, and AFAIK he did release them for modders resources, but he might want some of them back for his new work.

     

    Yeah, I did release a whole host of 3D files. Including area model files. I've been thinking on doing a new release. But I want most of those areas "ready" to use. 

    A bit more mod friendly and useable from the go. Just proper renaming and also releasing ASCII format files, so anyone can import it into his 3D software.

     

    Not sure on the lightsabers? I think most of lightsabers got included in other mods. There's one from Marius Fett (DarthDingDong) who did a package with a few of his own saber hilts and mine included.

    Google might get that out for you ^^


  17. I'd actually agree that it could use some more contrast, lines don't look clearly defined and lots of details get lost, makes it look a lil bit plain in my opinion, some contrast would most improve the texture in that regard.

     

    Yeah, it's funny that things look very different from program to program. I kept the contrast lower, because when I was working in Photoshop it looked okay. And I was afraid of overdoing it.

    But in 3Ds Max it's all less visible.

     

    I've taken the comments and tweaked it all further; given a nice boost to the contrast, also altered the blue.

    Did a quick early in-game test.

  18. Did some more work on T3. Still need to tweak his blue color a bit better.

    In the game he has this baby blue thing going on, mine is more azure. :P

     

    Just added in more piping/ techy detail stuff on some of his panels. It's more visible on his side and back.

    No in-game shots just yet. I deleted all my old save games and did a clean up of my override folder.

  19. Just going to throw this out there for you Q if you want to make more than one skin (like alternates or whatever) for T3 and/or HK: with a little .uti editing and if needed 2da magic, you could make the skin change depending on what armor item/armor class the droid is wearing... ;)

     

    Sounds cool! I didn't know that was possible.

    T3 does! :laughing:

     

    I must say the droids are more fun than I thought. T3 is going smoothly. 

    Spend about +-3 hours today on it and I like the result so far.

     

    I tried out a few different things and I might go back to HK to see if it would work on him as well.

    It's mainly on the small techy looking details on the droids. HK doesn't have to much exposed but it might be interesting to do a better job on it.

    This mod replaces all HK-47s textures. Just like my other party member reskins; the size has
    been increased to 2048x2048. Which allowed me to put in some extra details and give a decent update to the skin.

     

    There's now a more visible metal texture but otherwise; nothing major has been altered to HKs skin.
    I did tweak the contrast and colors but its still the same rusty killer droid.

     

    Look at the comparison picture to get a better idea ;)

     


    INSTALL:

     

    Unpack and copy the 3 files P_HK47_01.tga and TXI, plus PO_Phk47 to your override.

  22. Okay; today I kept working on the barstool. There where some issues with flipped faces on the mesh.
    It took time to get most of them fixed and after testing I still spotted 2 new spots where this happens.
     
    The baseball bat and golf club also have a few minor UVmap issues I need to address before release.
    Still, it's going nicely!
     
    I opted for a wooden barstool. It just feels more right to my Belgian mind :laughing:
    Tomorrow I've got my day off from work, I'm aiming to do some more modding then.
     
    Though I might go back to HK and T3 first. I believe these have a more higher urgency. :P

  23. It would be great to replace the original boxes with items. I do not know whether it can be opened. You can bind to nimu animation?

     

    I never tried this; but I think it should be possible. Though, this would only replace the boxes you can open to take items out.

    Some of the boxes you see around the game are part of the area model. So those would stay the same.
