Salk Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 Hello! I was wondering if someone knows how to play custom sounds from inside a script. I assume the function to use is PlaySound(). I created a custom sound effect ("locking") and I thought it was just a matter of dumping the audio file in the Streamsounds folder and call it via PlaySound("locking") but I am not successful. Cheers! Quote
DarthParametric Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 Have you tried it in the Override? Typically PlaySound is used for files from sounds.bif, not Streamsounds. You also want to make sure it is a mono WAV. 1 Quote
Salk Posted February 19, 2020 Author Posted February 19, 2020 Hello! Having it in the Override works. I'm just having an issue with the sound volume being way too low but I will think of something. Thanks! Quote
DarthParametric Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 Aside from the global game sound settings, the only thing you can do is edit the file directly to boost its volume. Quote

You might want to compare a similar sounding effect or sound to your new one - which will likely help gauge how much you'll need to adjust the volume in your new sound. Quote
Salk Posted February 19, 2020 Author Posted February 19, 2020 Hello! Yes, that is exactly what I did. I used Wavepad to amplify the sound and now it is much better. Thanks for your help. Quote
