DarthParametric 3,782 Posted January 17, 2018 I always wondered why both TSLRCM and M4-78 use RIM files for 702/703KOR rather than using MODs like for every other module. Having just tried testing something in 702KOR using a MOD, it seems like this doesn't work properly for the academy module, for some reason? The module loads, but things like cutscenes are broken. It's not an insurmountable problem, as TSLPatcher can patch RIMs I gather, but I am curious as to the cause.

When I was looking at the modules in KOTOR tool, not every module was a .mod file. There were a few .rim files in there. Don't they usually work the same? DarthParametric 3,782 Posted January 20, 2018 All vanilla modules are only RIMs. The MOD format (player-made module) is a legacy of Neverwinter Nights.
zbyl2 811 Posted January 20, 2018 things like cutscenes are broken. This is the reason. I don't believe anyone ever figured out a reason why they're broken in a MOD.
DarthParametric 3,782 Posted January 20, 2018 But it's only in that specific module, right? Cutscenes work fine in every other module when overridden with MODs. Does that module do something unique that no other module does?
zbyl2 811 Posted January 20, 2018 As far as I know, yes, it's only that specific module. I never found out why, but if anyone knows or has any ideas, I'd love to hear it.

Mellowtron11 180 Posted January 21, 2018 Maybe it was a development oversight that they forget while they built up the game?
th3w1zard1 30 Posted March 7 After spending 5 minutes on this issue (so take this with a grain of salt) I've determined there is no .MOD issue (at least with 702KOR). The issue you guys were experiencing is a bug in KOTOR Tool or ERFEdit or whatever tool you used to create the .mod. Using Holocron Toolset to create the .mod worked fine. I've tested the whole module with one of @Leilukin's light side saves, start->finish, no sequence breaks. Probably the same problem in 401DXN
