Markus Ramikin 107 Posted June 4, 2017 For those of you who feel deeply knowledgeable about the details of the story Kotor 2 tells, here are some things which I am not 100% sure I understand. Maybe I forgot too many details over the many years of my knowing this game. But I wanna hear other people's take on these: 1. What was GO-TO's plan for the Exile? He didn't want to release him because of the Exile's tendency to cause destructive incidents like Peragus. And yet he wanted the Exile to save the galaxy. Like, how, in GO-TO's model of reality, was that going to work? 2. What was Mira's plan when she went to meet Visquis? What was she hoping to accomplish? 3. Who was paying Azkul to attack Khoonda, and what was their motivation? 4. Why was the Exile on the way to Telos before the game began? Y'know, as a passenger on the Harbinger, what was he trying to do, what were his goals and plans? And what was the Republic hoping for when they gave him diplomatic priority? (Where appropriate, please assume every question also ends in "... and how do we know that?")
bead-v 251 Posted June 5, 2017 2. What was Mira's plan when she went to meet Visquis? What was she hoping to accomplish? Had to think about that a lot for my Nar Shaddaa Rewrite mod (currently on hold since I'm working on modding tools). I don't think I managed to come up with a good answer. For the light side scenario, I was changing it to the alternative scenario where the Exile and Mira both believe that Visquis holds Zez-Kai Ell. The Exile obviously has to go to save him, all Mira does is warn him of Visquis and make a deal to take them both to G0-T0 with "no pain, no fuss" after they're done in the JJT. Then I have Mira discover that Ell isn't being held by Visquis, so she follows the Exile into the JJT. But that's my interpretation, only the bold part is the original scenario that we have VOs for. She would still do that for the DS scenario though, and I don't have a good answer to that either. Yet (hopefully). But there's way more nonsense in that part of the story. Like, in the LS scenario, Hanharr will claim that he brought the Jedi to the JJT (like in DS), but he didn't do anything at all actually. It's stuff like that that made my go into making that mod, along with clearing the base for the GenoHaradan.
N-DReW25 1,341 Posted June 5, 2017 3. Who was paying Azkul to attack Khoonda, and what was their motivation? He I think Azkul was apart of the Exchange or at least worked for them and his motivation for attacking Khoonda was to turn it into an Exchange base. Markus Ramikin 107 Posted June 6, 2017 Yeah, please do. One wonders what the Exchange would even want that base for. They're not pirates, so not a naval base. They're not Czerka, so not gonna mine planetary resources. They're a crime syndicate; they need populations and economies to exploit. Dantooine has little of that. Had to think about that a lot for my Nar Shaddaa Rewrite mod (currently on hold since I'm working on modding tools). I don't think I managed to come up with a good answer. Now that I think of it, it might be as simple as that she wanted to sell the Exile to the Exchange for the bounty. If the Exile just met with Visquis, no bounty for Mira, so she was just inserting herself as an intermediary, thinking that if she captured the Exile and only she knew where she'd hidden him, she could dictate terms? Still feels dumb as hell when you watch Visquis turn the lightning trap on her. But that may be hindsight bias, since we know Visquis had betrayed Goto, and Mira hadn't known that before that scene. Well, that would make sense if there was no other way to sell the Exile to Goto – otherwise some other way would probably have been easier than walking into a place that can kill you if your suit gets breached. Also, whether Visquis works for Goto at this point or not is irrelevant, in both cases he'd want the Exile, so he'd do the same thing. Mira must have thought like you said to have gone to meet Visquis, but it justs seems very naive, which goes against Mira being otherwise portrayed as smart. Actually in LS, it's even worse because she actually warns the player that Visquis is setting up a trap. Going in like that regardless just seems stupid. It's just badly written, which is probably the result of the other Nar Shaddaa stuff being cut, but unfortunately that's what we have to work with.
Markus Ramikin 107 Posted June 7, 2017 Aaand I just got to the part after Goto's ship, where Mira admits Zez-Kai hired her to watch over the Exile. Which doesn't mesh at all. Sigh. Speaking of Goto's ship, this conversation, that I think was added by TSLRCM: Zhug: The Zhug family will scour the galaxy for this Jedi... and then we will bring him here, to Goto. Me: You're welcome to try, big-eyes. Zhug: If we were not here before Goto, I would drill holes through your body like a nest of hungry sviro-worms. Does this make more sense to you than it appears to me? The Zhug lines sound like something that would have been said in the bounty hunter meeting at the start of NS, but here I'm stumped. I don't see why they would promise to scour the galaxy to bring the Exile to Goto's ship, when the Exile is already on Goto's ship, speaking to them. Also, Goto is nowhere to be seen. And what does that last line mean, when they open fire at you anyway afterwards?
JCarter426 1,220 Posted June 7, 2017 What was GO-TO's plan for the Exile? He didn't want to release him because of the Exile's tendency to cause destructive incidents like Peragus. And yet he wanted the Exile to save the galaxy. Like, how, in GO-TO's model of reality, was that going to work? "One Jedi attracts others." That's my guess, anyway - he wanted to keep the Exile prisoner as bait for other Jedi. He also might have hoped the Exile knew more about the problem than he/she actually did. What was Mira's plan when she went to meet Visquis? What was she hoping to accomplish? Now that I think of it, it might be as simple as that she wanted to sell the Exile to the Exchange for the bounty. If the Exile just met with Visquis, no bounty for Mira, so she was just inserting herself as an intermediary, thinking that if she captured the Exile and only she knew where she'd hidden him, she could dictate terms? Aaand I just got to the part after Goto's ship, where Mira admits Zez-Kai hired her to watch over the Exile. Which doesn't mesh at all. Sigh. Well, let's go in chronological order. Zez-Kai Ell hired Mira to watch over the Exile. The Exile shows up looking for Zez-Kai Ell, wanders around, and attracts the attention of the Exchange. The Exile goes to meet Visquis in what is obviously a trap. Furthermore, such a meeting is in violation of Goto's orders. Goto told the bounty hunters not to go after the Exile until he/she makes contact with another Jedi; Visquis had no business meeting with the Exile behind Goto's back. Mira goes in the Exile's place, so the Exile won't get captured, but she screws up and gets herself captured instead. In conclusion: Going in like that regardless just seems stupid. It's just badly written And I agree that the original version made more sense, with the two of them going together, so Mira gets paid and the Exile gets to talk to Goto. But I'm not sure how the whole capture thing was supposed to play out in that scenario. Who was paying Azkul to attack Khoonda, and what was their motivation? Azkul was likely working for the Sith. If you side with him rather than Khoonda (or at least pretend to) you can ask him why he wants to attack Khoonda, and he says "people much more powerful than you or I are paying a great deal of credits to have the job done." And he knows he's talking to a Jedi. He used to be a Sith trooper himself, so it would make sense that he still had connections with them. Although which faction isn't really clear. I would guess Nihilus', given that Dantooine is a part of his overall plan already. Why was the Exile on the way to Telos before the game began? Y'know, as a passenger on the Harbinger, what was he trying to do, what were his goals and plans? And what was the Republic hoping for when they gave him diplomatic priority? The Republic wanted to talk to the Exile to find out about Revan. Some content suggests that Atris was keeping tabs on the situation, so she may have been manipulating them into doing her work for her, bringing the Exile to Telos. Though personally I don't think Carth would fall for it; more likely their interests merely overlapped, I'd say. As for why the Exile goes along with the whole thing, well, that's probably up to you, the player. But it's clear the Exile had heard about the Jedi Civil War, and then the Republic wants to make contact, so there are reasons to be curious. Speaking of Goto's ship, this conversation, that I think was added by TSLRCM Hmm, I don't know why it's there in TSLRCM. All the bounty hunters have lines like that, but the UTCs in 351NAR, where the rescue takes place, are not set up to use it. The ones in 352NAR, where the meeting cutscene takes place, are set up for it, however. I believe that at some point in development, you were able to wander around the yacht and interact with all the bounty hunters before all the rescuing and fighting starts. It might've been from a previous version of events, or maybe it was never even supposed to be in the final game, only put there for fun during testing of that module.

Though to me it seems that you were able to talk to the bounty hunters before initiating the Goto Meeting cutscene. The lines for the HK units are the same thing. In my version of Goto's Yacht, I've gotten rid of both those scenes.
Markus Ramikin 107 Posted June 8, 2017 Tbh. You probably need to play the game two or three times to understand the story Ha. I've played it more than that over the years, and given it much thought as well. The lines for the HK units are the same thing. In my version of Goto's Yacht, I've gotten rid of both those scenes. Good point about the HKs. [many words] Thanks, good thoughts.
