musicforthepiano 13 Posted March 16, 2015 Hello. I posted here a long time ago mentioning that I was working on some music that was KOTOR related. I ended up doing this project as part of an ongoing music transcription project for a number of scores. I composed new music for Sleheyron, feel free to check it out and comment. I hope you all enjoy it! All credit goes to Mr. Soule, I just transcribed his work and recorded myself playing it. I have not marketed or networked my channel yet, so you will be the first to see the KOTOR piano project. -Sonarwave Studios https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Gv_-iAZZIQ
Kate The Bionic Uterus 12 Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) So I quickly skimmed through your piano anthology. My favourite part was the last song when the ebon hawk lands on the station and the final battles commences. That part was done very well. Advice; the hour and twenty five minutes is a turn off. I suggest you either cut the video up into separate songs or figure out how to put the song markers in the video so we could fast forward and rewind and listen to each sound separately. I think this latter suggestion is easier ant this point but keep in mind that you want your videos on You Tube to be between 2-6 minutes with 10 minutes being to longest. Once you go beyond the 6 minute mark the less attractive the video becomes and therefore the less hits you are going to get. The sweet spot is 2-6 mins. Once you build a following then you can increase the length of your videos. Thanks for sharing <3 Edited March 16, 2015 by Kate The Bionic Uterus
musicforthepiano 13 Posted March 16, 2015 **Fixed the time markers. Thanks for listening! As for cutting it short, since I have so many videos already, I don't think I will do that unless someone specifically wants to download all the piano pieces separately then I will make mp3s for each one individually.
Sith Holocron 2,480 Posted March 16, 2015 Interested in having MP3s. Will you be attempting the KOTOR2 soundtrack as well?
VarsityPuppet 1,085 Posted March 16, 2015 Whoa, I really like the Endar Spire one!
Sith Holocron 2,480 Posted March 16, 2015 BTW, I haven't listened to the whole thing yet but the video's description implies that you performed interpretations of the Sleheyron music. Did you use any of the music that still remained on the disc for Sleheyron? (The files's names are "mus_bat_sleheyron.wav" and "mus_area_sleheyron.wav" if you're interested.) musicforthepiano 13 Posted March 17, 2015 I did the ones that Soule originally composed, the ones he meant for sleheyron, which were "The Unknown World," only heard in game during the mystery box level, and the "Rancor Battle" which is heard in-game when fighting on the rakatan world and on the star forge. Because I wanted to avoid repetition and based off of the plot known for Sleheyron, I composed three new songs, one for the ebon hawk arriving and departing sleheyron, one for the explore cue (non-combat) and one for action (combat cue). Check the video again, they're there. edit: Yes I will be doing KOTOR 2 as the very first project next time I start up again, sometime next year when I get off of work. In my free time I also write scripts/dialogues and paint pictures/backgrounds. For now, there are 84 piano projects for viewers to listen to and enjoy, including the three star wars films and shadows of the empire.
Sith Holocron 2,480 Posted March 17, 2015 I think I'll be waiting for the MP3. Listening through an hour and a half video to hear one or two songs (at a time) doesn't seem very time efficient to me. Additionally, I'm sure I'd get better sound quality from a MP3 than what YouTube provides.
musicforthepiano 13 Posted March 17, 2015 There's markers to skip right to the part lol. I put markers in on all the long videos because of their length. Here are the new Sleheyron songs points: Here are the shortcuts here: Arrival/Departure Sleheyron https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Gv_-iAZZIQ#t=60m40s Sleheyron Explore https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Gv_-iAZZIQ#t=61m37s Sleheyron Action https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Gv_-iAZZIQ#t=63m10s Remember I composed and recorded these after listening to Jeremy Soule's work and tried to encompass the evocations of exploration in the non-combat track, of an industrial city / alien thug land, and the sporadic action of swoop racing / fighting inside a volcano / arena for the action track. VarsityPuppet 1,085 Posted March 17, 2015 Which marker would I go to for the Kotor character creation screen?
Kate The Bionic Uterus 12 Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) Which marker would I go to for the Kotor character creation screen? Yes, what he needs to do is write the play list song titles and marker number in the description box so people could easily find the song they want. If I were him I would also open a SoundCloud account and upload his MP3 recordings there too. The site is fine tuned for music Edited March 17, 2015 by Kate The Bionic Uterus

Are you not seeing it on the video information screen, when it says, "show more"? Here is a screenshot of the video information as I've uploaded it on youtube as it appears (both when i'm logged in and when i'm not as a guest, so you should be able to see what I see):
Kate The Bionic Uterus 12 Posted March 17, 2015 I guess not eh? I think you should be directing your response to VarsityPuppet as it was he who couldn't find the song he wanted. I didn't bother to click on the "Show More" button as I had no need to.
VarsityPuppet 1,085 Posted March 17, 2015 I knew about the show more button, I just don't know what the name of the character creation theme is.
musicforthepiano 13 Posted March 17, 2015 It's called "The Old Republic" and it also plays in game after the Ebon Hawk leaves Rakata Prime and contacts the Fleet. I named it "The Republic Fleet" on the anthology, here is the shortcut to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Gv_-iAZZIQ#t=73m23s
Zhaboka 91 Posted March 17, 2015 Great work! Love your handling of Bastila's Theme.
VarsityPuppet 1,085 Posted March 17, 2015 Another thought: how cool would it be for an 8-bit version of the Kotor soundtrack?
musicforthepiano 13 Posted March 18, 2015 It's possible. I'd have to upload my mp3 file to one of my music recognition system programs, edit out any confusing notes and simplify certain segments, namely parts where I'm playing furiously fast, and save it as a midi file. With the midi file, you could then change the piano to different instruments, perhaps synthesizers, making it sound more like a gameboy version of Kotor.
Malkior 476 Posted March 18, 2015 That's it! All if this talk of midis has made it entirely mandatory for someone to make a Kotor on gamemaker (or similar 2d game building engine)! :]
Sith Holocron 2,480 Posted July 18, 2015 There's markers to skip right to the part lol. I put markers in on all the long videos because of their length. Here are the new Sleheyron songs points: Yes, there are marker but I - and I imagine many people - don't watch a YouTube video if they want to hear music. They'll use a music program / device to do so. I use an iPod, for example. So I'm still hoping for MP3 files for each separate song.
Sith Holocron 2,480 Posted December 10, 2015 I see you've posted elsewhere that you're starting the KOTOR2 soundtrack. Will you be including the M4-78 music? And this time: Please have the tracks available as individual MP3 files.
musicforthepiano 13 Posted September 28, 2016 Yes I will be including every track that Mark Griskey composed for the score.
