TSLRCM doesn't work (or maybe I don't)

OK, so I played this game years ago, and it's very nostalgic for me, so when I heard it was finally on Steam I was delighted. I was even more delighted when I heard about the restored content mod.

I was not, however, delighted when the installation didn't work. I'm sure it's entirely my fault and probably completely obvious, but I'm stumped. I have placed the directory to the correct place (C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Knights of the Old Republic II) and have double and triple checked that it is there. I have uninstalled and re-installed it repeatedly. And still the new content does not appear. I have heard that the first sign that it is there is that 3C talks to you in the prologue instead of just beeping. He beeps. Also, there is no vibro-cutter and Kreia says nothing about the Ebon Hawk.

Can someone help with this? I really want to play this mod because it looks amazing and I consider this to be one of the greatest games ever.

Are there any files in your override folder after running the install?

Are there .MOD files in your modules folder?

I'm not sure what that is. I don't know much about computers and files and all that. It seems to be full of some kind of video or audio file, all of them labeled stuff life 207TEL or 153HAR. There are two or three files that aren't that kind of file, but they don't say .MOD

Just use the search function and type in .MOD. If files pop up then that means that part of the mod installed correctly (or at least mostly correct.).

Yeah, they are there.

If those .MOD files are in proper folder (KotOR II/modules), then mod should work fine. I'd say double check installation path ;)

Also, if you install 1.8.1 (or patch for 1.8, both available in download section here since last night), main menu will change to this:

swkotor2201209020359004.jpg

Which is a very easy way to check if mod was installed correctly.

OK, I uninstalled it, re-installed it into my KotOR II folder, double checked if the module had the .MOD folders, looked in the override folder, finding it full, and still I open the game and Darth Sion just stares at me, mocking my inability to install the mod.

Yeah, I should have been more clear. I'm not referring to Nihilus and stuff, I meant the "restored content mod" text under KotOR's logo ;)

Rest of menu, as usual, will change depending on your progress... so at the beginning, it's Sion. Only logo changes.

That isn't there, either, and Sion continues to mock me.

But... that doesn't make sense :(

You did re-download 1.8.1 before re-installing, right?

Also, you install it into main KotOR II folder, not any sub-folders, right? Probably so, since you say you've got files in modules, override and such. Then again, if you've got those files, I can't see how menu wouldn't change...

Last thing, Steam version? If so, make sure to turn off steam's auto-update so it doesn't revert our changes.

Ah, I think I may finally see the problem. Steam auto-update is on. The download page is incredibly confusing about that, it looked to me like you had to turn it on.

Try turning it off, re-install 1.8.1, check if game's logo in menu changes :)

OK, it didn't work. I turned it off, re-installed 1.8.1 and the logo was still the same.

EDIT: Just tried running it in offline mode, after re-installing yet again. Didn't work. :(

I was about to report suffering from the same problem when I realised I was installing the mod to the wrong programme files section, literally only realised it as I was typing the pathways out for my forum post.

If your using Windows 7 Steam is in your programme files (x86) folder. Not programme files (at least it wss on my PC). Hope this helps!

The Nihilus Easter Egg screen was already added in 1.8.

Of course, you have to *work* for it ;)

Hassat Hunter, do you know what my problem could be? I'm getting desperate. :(

:o

Oh. That... explains a lot.

Alright, it FIINALLY worked. Thank you so much everyone. But there's just one thing. Kreia said 'Ebon Hawk' and the new screen is there, but I can't find the vibro-cutter. Where is it exactly?
