  1. Kyle Katarn's discs for K1 and K2 are legal discs with 2.0 versions of both K1R and TSLRCM and they WORK on his XBOX!

When Kyle Katarn plays TSLRCM if he makes the wrong decision regarding the HK Factory he gets the HK-51s to side with him by simply staring at the terminal and daring their behavior core to be corrupt!

When Kyle Katarn plays Pazzaak he CAN beat a 20 using a 0.

Kyle Katarn CAN import his Dragon Age characters or Mass Effect characters into KotOR1 or KotOR2 and vice-versa.

Kyle Katarn CAN save Trask on the Endar Spire.

When Kyle Katarn plays KotOR1 he CAN "charge up Bastila's loading ramp" despite the fact this never happens in game and he does it WITHOUT mods, imagine what he could do WITH mods. Oh he can also do that with Visas and the Handmadien in K2 without using mods.

When Kyle Katarn plays KotOR2 he CAN steal and take control of the Harbinger.

When Kyle Katarn gets captured on the Leviathan in KotOR1 HE interrogates Saul.

Feel free to add your own. Add to the fun :).

  2. That is not what the KotOR 1 Restoration is about though. K1R is a restoration mod not a merger of mods so this will NOT be happening.

You seem new here so you're probably not too familiar with how the KotOR modding community works but in order to have other mods in your mod you must have permission from the author of that mod.

The good news is those are likely compatible with the K1R demo though I can't promise the same for 1.0 or 2.0.

  3. With the Windows XP Professional installed as Operative System. I installed the Knights of the Old Republic game using the 4 CDs, then install the Kotor 1 Restoration Demo (Beta). No other mods were installed.

Here I found the following problems:

    1. Taris

    a) Invited to a party quest: the party animation did not work.

    B) The Duel Ring quest: the fight between Revan vs Bendak Starkiller did not happened because there is a lack of dialog from Revan to Ajuur, the Hutt.

    2. Dantooine

    a) Murdered Settler quest: In the Calder‘s murder case on Grove, there is no dialog to find the motive of the murder and this quest turned as unresolved.

    3. Kashyyyk

    a) Hidden Hunters quest – there is a lack of dialog from Revan to the wookie, Grrrwahrr in order to close this quest. After Revan finds the Star Map on the Shadowlands, the Wookies overpower the hunters; then Revan should come back to the Shadowlands to report this event to the wookie, Grrrwahrr. This final dialog from Revan to Grrrwahrr should be added to close this quest.

By the way, the rest of the mod works fine. This Mod is AWESOME. Congratulations to all of you, guys.

We know about the other things and a patch will be made, and we didn't touch Kashyyyk for the demo.

  4. No Kotor 2s vanilla ending still blows the EC out of the water, if only for the final conversation with Traya.

    QFT (quote for truth).

I mean ME3's ending got much better with EC but even a incomplete K2's ending taken all together is still better than EC for ME3. I mean Kriea is what made KotOR2 well KotOR2 and Starchild is just a huge WTF moment with no real build up to him.

  5. A lot of it isn't really considered canon, but is true to Obsidian's original vision.

Actually if you look at it TSLRCM for the most part expands on what is already canon, also HK Factory is canon.

  6. Thanks for reply :) And awesome! I feel better playing it now lol.

One thing though: I have my difficulty on "difficult", but even still I seem to be ripping my enemies to shreds! Those two Twi'lek sisters on Goto's Yacht went down after only two force storms; they didn't even save the force attack! :o

Does TSLRCM change the damage tables? Because the difficulty system of KOTOR changes the damage doesn't it? So on easy the damage I sustain is divided by three I believe (from testing). However changing the difficulty does not seem to reduce the damage I inflict upon enemies.

KOTOR 1 never seemed that easy, I had similar attributes and the enemies were harder to defeat.

Do you know if this is a result of the mod? Or some other glitch in the game? (I am using an old 4mb exe file I believe because I am using a widescreen patch).

    Thanks :)

TSLRCM does not change the damage tables as far as I know. There wouldn't be a point unless there was a cut difficulty option that needed restoring like in K1. The TSLRCM was very careful to avoid custom content, the only custom content that I know of that actually exists in the mod are VOs for Kavee and the Taris traveler which were not done by Obsidian but that was only because Obsidian didn't have time to record voice overs for those NPCs so it was left to fans.

I see TSLRCM as extraordinary because it's basically the fans bringing the vision Obsidian intended for TSL to life.

  7. Pretty much everything in there was originally intended by Obsidian so you're good.

Things that didn't fit in with the final version were not restored.

The content was found by looking through the game's files.

By the way I'm someone who can't play TSL without RCM 1.8.1. Just saying :).

  8. I am pretty sure you're confusing the KOTORs.

DS/LS mastery doesn't have anything to do with level or the level cap though...

True, I think I skimmed through your post and assumed you were talking about xp due to the above poster talking about xp ^^;. Anyway yeah there's no need for that bug either. There's plenty of opportunities to get mastery for both light and dark without glitches.

  9. I hadn't considered unreleased games, and for them, I think prototypes and betas should certainly be released.

As I've said I have absolutely no problems with ROMs and emulation as long as people are not making a profit by doing something like putting the prototype ROM on a cartridge or disc and selling it. You know Star Fox 2 is a finished unreleased game (with the exception that it still had debug features in the ROM) and I sometimes play the ROM and it's actually pretty fun and it had a lot of good ideas that got used in later games. In fact I was recently introduced to a way to play the SNES, N64, and Sega Genesis prototype ROMs on their actual consoles.

What's your position on betas that are significantly different from the final? I personally think those along with unreleased games take high priority in preservation and sharing but I think that betas with very little difference from the final version take lower priority.

  10. Yeah most video game companies get pretty pissed over ROMs and emulation and that includes prototypes. SEGA is cool about people having ROMs of their prototypes though. The protos I find most interesting tend to be N64 protos and I've been hoping for forever beyond hope that a early prototype of Ocarina of Time when it was only known as "Zelda64" in the previews would get leaked mainly due to the massive differences. The good news is we are starting to get more Zelda protos leaked and that used to be a rarity but the internet now has a prototype of the original Legend of Zelda, a E3 prototype of Twilight Princess, and even the E3 demo of Skyward Sword. I am predicting that within at least 10 years we will see a prototype of the elusive "Zelda64" leaked.

  11. I mean of course. Sometimes it give the people a chance to recover and improve things removed. I know I would kill to get my hands on the prototype for Sleheyron level that was supposed to be in the first KotOR.

There's actually some prototypes of the Super Star Wars games. I think I have them somewhere on my old computer.

There's a few prototypes I'd kill to get my hands on too such as

    Zelda64

    Sonic Xtreme

    Conker64

The early prototype of Sonic the Hedgehog that Yuji Naka had planned to be released for Sonic Mega Collection

A early prototype of SW: KotOR with Sleyheyron

  12. I think they should, but not before the actual release - people may make and sell their own copies from that prototype, which would be cheating the publishers and developers of the actual game. As long as the game's been released, certainly - EA has a whole load of free downloads of Spore prototype software.

Right I would never advocate selling fake copies of a prototype. I think that even if the prototypes on a person's computer are ROMs as long as they are not making a profit off of it it's perfectly fine. I mean I am guilty of having several prototypes preserved on my computer such as.

Several prototypes of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 which the internet DOES have permission from SEGA to have.

Star Fox 2 Alpha and near final versions (a unreleased game)

A prerelease version of Chrono Trigger

A prototype of Glover and Glover 2 which Glover 2 is a unreleased game

The leaked Mass Effect 3 Private BETA

and even a prototype of the original Legend of Zelda

I also have a E3 prototype of Spirit Tracks on the actual cartridge!

That doesn't list all of my prototypes though however with the exception of the unreleased games I have the legal retail versions of the final versions of the games that the prototypes are earlier versions of.

No I won't tell anyone how to find those, although I will note the leaked BETA for ME3 was sort of annoying to find and Bioware did a pretty good job of removing it from the internet but seeing as how I am such a BETA enthusiast I eventually found it anyway, oh and I also went through all the text data :P.

Note: By fake copies of a prototype I will give an example. Say someone dumped a prototype of Star Wars:KotOR for Xbox and say it gets leaked. The only real prototype would be the one on the disc and copying the prototype to another disc would technically make it a fake prototype. I have no problem with someone selling a actual prototype so it CAN be leaked and preserved but trying to make a profit off a copy of a leaked prototype is low.

  13. I know most people here love beta and cut content but, what does everyone here think about video game prototypes? I personally love them and I find them interesting. Shortly after the internet was created it started to become commonplace for certain people in video game companies to leak the prototypes of their games to communities online. One video game company in particular is very friendly to their community allowing them to be able to play and keep and preserve their prototypes in digital form, that company being SEGA. The policy of SEGA regarding the prototypes is that it is okay for the online community to have their prototypes as long as they are not leaked before the retail game is available, in fact did you know Yuji Naka wanted to put a prototype of Sonic the Hedgehog in "Sonic Mega Collection" but that SEGA had lost that long ago so it went unpreserved? Now my philosophy regarding prototypes is not too far off from how SEGA operates with the exception of I believe if they are very early that they should be able to be leaked before the retail game being that the retail would be significantly different anyway (usually) but if they are near final the internet should have to wait until retail before the prototype would get leaked. Prototypes not only allow us to see the what a game was like in a earlier state and allow us to experience removed features but there are some prototypes that are of entirely unreleased games such as "Star Fox 2" for example. Now to the Deadly Stream community I shall not link to any prototypes here for that would probably get me in trouble. I just thought we could have a great debate about prototype preservation and that I could get some insight from some people on the other side and we could all learn something from it.

  14. 90s kicked ass in Console gaming. Just remember Super Mario 64, Final Fantasy VII, Sonic Adventure, Sonic the Hedgehog and Chrono Trigger... And, of course, my favorite, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. These games changed the whole industry.

    fix'd :P

  15. Really good job guys, its really shaping up. Im considering downloading this beta, but im a bit worried about saving in certain parts. At least from the bug reports and what's been found.

Well there is a bug we've been unable to pinpoint so far that breaks the Bendak sidequest but there is nothing that actually breaks the main quest so you can finish the demo. If you are worried however and wish to wait to download until we release a fixed version of the demo that is understandable as well.

  16. He swears a lot, but he is pretty clever.

Yep, I know all about the AVGN. He's pretty awesome! Also you know how he occasionally does reviews for good games. I'd like to see him review Ocarina of Time (N64) and see how well he thinks it holds up today seeing as to how it is on many of the "Greatest Game of All Time" lists. Yeah I know there's the 3DS remake (which I do have both that and the N64 version) but he should review the N64 version.

  17. I'm really puzzled by this, and this very much might be a bona-fide bug. I've been trying to initiate lightsaber training with Kreia, and I have two single-bladed lightsabers in my inventory, but I'm still being told that I need two. I also have two short lightsabers as well, but alas, no dice.

More to the point: what conditions need to be met in order to trigger lightsaber training? Do both the Exile and Visas need to have lightsabers equipped, or do they just have to be in the inventory? Or am I just doing everything wrong?

I'm pretty sure the PC has to be equipped with two and Visas with one.

  18. Have you ever thought what the best decade for gaming is? I've often wondered that myself and I have come to conclusion that it's 1990 - 2000. I mean the console wars that were going on at that time were like a arms race and the competition was the fiercest it had ever been. I can think of so many great games from that era too. Examples are.

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

    Super Mario World

    Sonic the Hedgehog

    Sonic the Hedgehog 2

    Sonic the Hedgehog 3

    Sonic & Knuckles

    Chrono Trigger

Final Fantasy II (V in Japan)

Final Fantasy III (VI in Japan)

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

    Sonic Adventure

Super Star Wars/Empire Strikes Back/Return of the Jedi

    Star Wars Rouge Squadron

and that's just to name a few.

Translation: I think the 90s kicked ass!

What are the thoughts of the people here? Which is the best decade for gaming and why?

  19. Statements like this are for those that avoid answer. I DO care about quality, ant RCM mods from here always were in great quality. But probably if i will not play K1 and K2 this year (5 months to end of year now) I will not play this game anymore for some reasons. So would be good to know answer on my question.

Would you rather us say that it will be out by [insert time here] and then we end up missing that deadline? The most I will say is that I do not think K1R 1.0 will be done this year from my own estimations. As to when it will actually be done I don't think anyone knows, I think a lot of that depends on how much more content we end up finding in the process. That is the best answer I can give you without giving you a possible release date that there would be a good chance we would miss seeing as how things in large modding projects go.
