As a Soldier I can complete Taris at level 3. But Scouts are so bad they're not good at either combat or force powers. As a Scout I usually have to level up all 8 levels in order to beat Taris, and don't get me started on Bendak Starkiller, he is nearly impossible to beat as either a low level scout or high level one. My favorite combination is Lv3 Soldier then save the levels until I can get Consular.

I never liked the old EU theme of Palpatine clones. It seemed too gimicky. While some of it was good, a lot of the old EU is bad. The Emperor and the Sith should be gone after Return of the Jedi, imo.
I read the Dark Empire comic after watching the first six canonical films, and thought it cheapened Anakin's sacrifice. So I did not like that comic at all.

It's funny when the "loud minority" tanks movies like Solo and gives The Rise of Skywalker a run for it's money, sinks the scores to 50% before Rotten Tomatoes gets "creative". Minority, huh?
Anyways, for being ' Oh woe is you! It's messages like these that just show how thin-skinned the fanbase has become. ' you seem to be pretty hurt that people call this movie out for the terrible mess it is.
Here's a vid on Rotten Tomatoes fixing audience scores. Not surprising everyone knows that Fandango the owners of RT get on there knees before the mouse overlord.

4 hours ago, Hassat Hunter said:Can't say I heard of the Hayden incident but remeber Loyd was bullied by his fellow classmates (kids can be mean), and Ahmed SPECIFICALLY stated it was the media that drove him there, not the fans. But of course those same media happily omit that part and redirect it to the target audience.
Much of modern backlash to the prequels seems due to RedLetterMedia, and I can't say I really agree with all of their takes. They seem to go soft on the Sequels just to keep this stance, and it gets too much credit for it's worth. They also often keep saying Star Wars just cannot be without the OT and I think all us KOTOR fans can happily laugh at that.
There are a LOT of people who love the prequels even before the sequels made them look even better, and it almost makes me wonder if much of the hate is spread by the media like the narrative that fans ruined Disney Star Wars, we're the worst ever and we drove Kelly Marie (fake) and Daisy Ridley (also fake) off social media, and the often nazi, racist, sexist comparisson and in the fanbase it's not that prevelant. Or is that just me being a wishful thinker?
I agree with everything you said as well. About RedLetterMedia. People online use to tell me to watch their reviews. I did not find them funny. Even though I defended the prequels. If someone did not like them I didn't bash them. If you don't like them that's okay. Everyone has their own tastes in movies. But RLM I found to be very immature.
People would say "oh that's because you don't like dark humor." I would then say I do like dark humor. But RLM's humor I did not like and have not seen any of their videos since episode III. The part I mentioned about fanatical SW fans running up on Hayden and yelling at him. I heard that from some youtube videos a little bit before RotS came out in theaters.
Another person I cannot stand is the actor/comedian Simon Pegg who for a decade bashed the prequels and anyone who liked them. I mean what a dick.
About the access media today. Yeah these so called journalists and Disney shills still have the nerve to blame old time fans for TRoS failure with critics. Their especially mad because JJ put a lot of fan service in the movie, and the access media hates the fans. That's why they keep calling us trolls and incels. I can't wait for the day these hacks are exposed and they are ridiculed out of the business.
Like you said they still keep saying that the fans drove off Kelly Marie Tran and Daisy Ridley off of social media which is a lie. Nowadays I get my news from Tim Pool, and the Quartering on Youtube.
Anyway I need to go take my meds. I'm beginning to foam at the mouth.
23 minutes ago, Gaak78 said:Just saw it a second time. Hated it on first viewing. But I think there were more aspects that I found to be more positive than the previous two where it made me enjoy TROS more so in IMAX. Its pretty obvious there were *tons* of reshoots for this film; Palpatine seems shoe horned, and the Mortis inscriptions on the holocrons lends credence to the fact the Son was perhaps supposed to be the main baddie. 2/3rds of the film was completely original unlike TFA or TLJ (both ripoffs of ANH and ESB), but I think I will just stick to the prequels and originals for the future.
The people on Red Letter Media are notoriously Star Trek fans and have even stated that Star Wars is and can never be original (which is completely a farce, what with Kotor, the prequels, TCW, Rebels, and a couple great Star Wars legends materials being good to great). As someone who loved the prequels, I respect their opinion, but that documentary "The People vs George Lucas" epitomizes the fanbase they appeal to so I never paid heed to their overly nitpick of the prequel trilogy. The films have problems, though not as egregious as many claim.
Yes! How can I forget the "People vs George Lucas" video. That is why I don't blame Lucas for selling the rights. Just wish Disney would have respected the source material. But like I said it's too late now. With Carrie Fisher gone we will never get the original three onscreen together, and that's what longtime fans wanted with TFA.

Well yeah Hayden was eye candy. I persoanlly think he portrayed Anakin perfectly let me explain. For the first ten years as a Padawan he lived cloistered and was taught not to give into his feelings. The nhe is reunited with Padme who by that time is a total hottie, and he does not know how to handle his strong feelings towards her. Which makes him act wooden and odd. That's why the romance scenes were cringey cause he did not know how to act in that situation, since he was taught not to give into his emotions. Now I know people will say what about Obi Wan and Mace. Well they were older than Anakin and had been trained since they were very young. So they knew how to handle their emotions.
I always said it if the Jedi found Anakin earlier he would have not fallen. In the old canon parent's would give up their children to the Jedi if they were Force sensitive. Usually these children were babies. Anakin was discovered when he was 10. For 10 years he had a strong attachment to his mother. Which is why when Qui Gon presents him to the Council Yoda says he senses great fear in Anakin. This fear was for his mother. Basically he suffered from separation anxiety. Anyway I rambling now.
Back on topic. SW is garbage now. I will not go see this movie and although it sounds like a good show, I will not watch the Mandalorian either even though "baby Yoda" is so cute. They made Han into a deadbeat dad, they made Luke into a loser who almost killed his nephew, and they retconned Vader's sacrifice. So both Anakin and Luke failed.

16 minutes ago, Ebony Moon said:I'm sure that played a part, too. A big part. It can get tiring. Sickening what Ahmed Best, Hayden, and Jake Lloyd have been through. While I think their roles could have been written better in the movies,. it's not the fault of the actors.
It should be a meme: Now we wish we were kinder to the Prequels.
Out of those three I think Hayden had the most pressure. Because he played the central figure and he had big shoes to fill. You know who was George Lucas's first pick to play Anakin? Leornado Dicaprio. But Leonardo seeing how obsessed the crazed fanatics can get, declined. Which in my opinion was a good idea. But I agree they could have been written better. But since Lucas was surrounded by Yes men, no one challenged him.
Me personally I never bashed the prequels I was and still am a prequel defender. Especially 'Revenge of the Sith.' I think they all were a mixed bag. There were some good parts like duel between Darth Maul, Obi Wan, and Qui Gon, and then there were cringey parts like the romance scenes between Anakin and Padme. Also people must remember he did not have his secret weapon when he made the prequels. His ex-wife. She was the one who put the OT scenes together. She, Alec Guiness, and Mark Hamill all voiced their opinions and George listened. That's what made those movies timeless and are still revered today.
So yeah the prequels could have been a lot better, but then again they could have been like the sequel trilogy.

5 hours ago, Ebony Moon said:My understanding was that it was Kathleen Kennedy who made the final choice of which cut to produce. But it really doesn't matter. The trilogy was made by people who had no real understanding of Star Wars. Sure they mimicked it well at times, but with no understanding of what made Star Wars work.
There was no true Hero's Journey with Rey like there was with Luke. Lucas is a fan of Joseph Campbell, who studied myths and legends and why they carry such strength through the ages. Lucas followed the formula of the Hero's Journey. This, combined with a certain aesthetic from such artists like Ralph McQuarrie, is why Star Wars became so huge. Plus Lucas knew how to break the rules a bit to make a fresh take on an old story, such as the hero being the son of the villain- which was ground breaking at the time. Lucas wasn't even sure if it would work, which is why he had Splinter in the Mind's Eye written to be a back up sequel to Star Wars, if Star Wars was a flop. In the book Splinter in the Mind's Eye Darth Vader was not related to Luke or Leia. But the rest was history and we got a truly great sequel.
One would think that Disney understood this, considering the works they have put out over the years, but I guess they didn't. There was the famous account of one Disney executive who simply could not understand why women liked Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. Perhaps they had lost their touch when they morphed into a huge conglomerate consuming anything they could get their hands on. But, then again, Disney was the ones who invented the myth of lemmings migrating themselves into the sea by forcing the poor creatures to do exactly that for a film.
Lucas should have never sold Star Wars. He wanted to focus on his family, a very understandable reason. But I think it would have been better to let it rest uncompleted than to turn it over to someone else who could never do it justice. Or he should have retained greater control, at least a strong veto on whatever Disney was trying to do. I can't imagine what he must be feeling now, no matter how much like a Jedi he is in outlook.
I agree with everything you said. But I think part of the reason Lucas sold the rights was because of all the backlash he got from the prequels. I remember videos of people saying Lucas ruined their childhoods. I remember people bashing a 10 year old kid, Jake Lloyd cause he was just doing what he was told. I remember hearing stories of crazed fanatical SW fans running up to Hayden and yelling you ruined Vader! Let's not forget the crap the actor who played Jar Jar when through that he considered suicide. All this ultimately fell on George Lucas's shoulders cause these actors were just doing what he told them. So if I was him I tried to wash my clean of SW and sell the rights.
That's why I find it funny that these same crazed fanatical fans are now begging for Lucas to come back. The same crazed fans like Simon Pegg who bashed him for a decade.

Yeah I did not see it nor have I subscribed to Disney+. After TLJ and the way Disney and LucasFilms attacked and still attack longtime fans. I'm not giving them any of my money. What a waste of potential we will never see Luke, Han, and Leia onscreen. Plus the TLJ ripped the heart and soul of SW by the way they handled Luke, who is the heart and soul of SW.

I never heard of the mod. I will check it out. Thanks.

Okay guys and gals here's an update. I almost finished with Darth Revan's Flagship "The Ruthless." I am currently working on Coruscant. Coruscant will be using the exterior of Taris since it is the closest look wise. There will be differences though. No Undercity. But there will be upper and lower apartments. The lower apartments will not be as dirty as in the vanilla game. There will be a Swoop Race Circuit, Senate building, Czerka main office, a cantina, Jedi Temple and hopefully more. Three of the additions I posted have been done. Just replacing/adding npc's.
-
Okay I've been converting K1 modules to be used in K2, and need to find the textures for the Leviathan, Taris, and K1 Korriban. I know they are in the ERF section but don't know where in that section they are. Can anyone help?
-
I have a question. I have been following this tutorial on how to use K1 modules in K2:
and am at the part were I have to create the module. I have successfully created the module. But I don't know what to do with the extra files like models. In the tutorial it say to put the extra files in the override folder. But both the models and textures are over 3gb. I can't possibly add all those files. So my questions are: What do I do with the extra files and which are the textures for the Leviathan? Someone in another thread said that Taris, the Leviathan, and the Sith Base all use the same textures. Is this true?

Updated first topic with a todo list for now. This is not the final list this just what I am currently working on at the moment.

You've stated . . .
But it seems you're still playing through the restored content and still working out minutia like names of starships. Leaving dialogue aside - and that's a big aside - what have you actually completed? Because it doesn't seem like a lot is set in stone at the moment but you said that your story was written "back in 2005/2006."
You've changed the antagonist and that's a small change. Hmmm.
But what have you done with this unnamed very big planet - or the three small planets? Have you just wrote about it or have you done something tangible in the game? If the latter, are these planets that you've cobbled together and plan to reskin - or just preexisting planets unchanged excepting a few reskin?
There's a lot of questions that I'm asking here and it's a bit much. I get that. But before I get the title of "curmudgeon" (or worse) thrown at me, may I remind you that I didn't make this WIP thread. I guess I personally am not seeing enough of a foundation here that justifies this thread at this point.
I welcome your questions I have thick skin you can keep them coming. As to your questions.
Yes the story was created in 2005/2006 but do to crazy work schedule at the time I never started work on the mod until a year ago, when my life settled down. Yes there are currently three planets done I know I said four but that was a mistake. The planets done are from the Republic. As for asking for a name of a Ship. I've only asked for the name of one ship and it is Revan's ship. There are more ships in my story and they already have names. But since this will be a ship for the players version of Revan I wanted to know what people thought. This mod will be my gift to the community so I value their input. Yes I have penned the story but I am open to suggestions after all this is a WIP thread, so everyone is welcome to say their piece.
I have beaten TSL and K1 dozens of times in the past. I first bought these games on original Xbox, then three different versions on PC. But I have never completed TSL with the restored content mod. As you are well aware of since you were the only person to reply. I have had some issues running TSL on Win10. But that was the GoG version I am now playing the Steam version and although progress has been slow, since I dedicate most of my time to both my job and the mod. The game has been running smoothly so far.
The mod is not ready yet for dialogue I have added dummy dialogue in it's stead. I am still in the process of populating the worlds with npc's and fauna.
Yes the antagonist has been changed. Like I said before back in the old LucasForums circa 2004/2005 the popular theory as to who the great enemy was. The remnants of Naga Sadow's empire. But after some discussion with a fellow forum member we came to the realization that if such an Empire did exist. Like Miraluka before it, Nihilus' hunger would have driven him there for him to consume. So we came up with a new better enemy, and yes the only major change is the enemy. Revan and the Exile joining up to face them has always been apart of the story. The bulk of the story is still there there have just been some tweaks to the story to accommodate the new enemy
What have I done with the big planet. Well since I am no 3D artist I can't create new models nor will I ask anyone to do so. But if they wish to contribute that is up to them. But back to your question. The planet is an existing planet with cobbled up modules. Npc's have been changed. The most time consuming part was coming up with what modules to use and where. Then adding npc's to those modules. I've been reading skinning tutorials so maybe I will do it myself.
No problem I understand your reservations and welcome any and all questions. Now as to the point of this thread this is a WIP thread. The thread is to announce the project, keep people up to date, and once I am satisfied I will post screenshots possibly a vid to highlight some things. In closing just let me say I am not Chris Avellone, I am but a mere fan of both KOTOR games and was not satisfied with the fates of our characters we know and love by EA BioWare and the Revan book. So this will be my gift to modders like yourself and the fans who keep the memory alive.
58 minutes ago, Ebony Moon said:Revan is pretty capable, but I don't think he was that much of a mastermind. There's something about Revan going through a time of weakness and amnesia that seems fitting. You talk with HK-47 after the big reveal, HK tells you, you aren't all what you once were, but in some way you are improved.
When I write my fanfic (not that my fanfic is some great source about KOTOR lore) about Revan, he comes out with some rough edges before he was captured, but when he's Revan Reborn bent on conquering the galaxy, he has more polish and wisdom. It's kind of an initiation experience, if that makes sense. It's kind of like when you get the starmap below the oceans of Manaan, you can't actively use your Force powers, it's just you and how fast you can shoot the firaxin sharks- when the water makes you very slow. It's a lesson about power, you aren't going to be all powerful all the time, you are in fact, quite fragile in some ways, and it's your spirit, not the Force, that pulls you through.
Yeah, seriously the whole thing about the cheerleading about Revan. It irritates me a bit when the topic is about Revan in K2. I either grit my teeth before getting through some of the convo with HK-47 to unlock him, or get up and do something until Kreia is done trying to mess with Mandalore's mind. I've mentioned before that my DS Exile haaaaaaaates Revan, and to insult the image of Revan in Ludo Kressh's tomb is immensely satisfying to my Exile 😄
I love my Revan, ls or ds, but I keep him in perspective.
Yes I do remember now what HK47 tells Revan or what the clever Jedi Council chose to rename him as Raven after the reveal. You make sense. But it's just that K2 hyped up Revan to be this mythical figure who knows all before it happens. That's why I was saying I think Revan knew exactly when Malak was going to betray him. Cause everyone in K2 loves Revan except Sion, but that's why my favorite out of Revan and the Exile is the Exile. Cause aside from easily creating Force bonds and being a Wound in the Force they're pretty much normal. That's why in my mod when Revan gets beyond the edges of the galaxy were he is not known. He will be nothing special. Though the enemy remembers him.

Three's that cutscene of the Dantooine starmap which shows a bit of the characters of Revan and Malak- I went by that for my interpretation of the two.
Also, Revan did fall for the Jedi trap and underestimated Malak. That might mean he was over confident.
That was part of what I liked about Revan that he was too overconfident and underestimated Malak as you say. But then Kreia says things like him falling to the darkside was his sacrifice. It makes me wonder if he had already planned that scenario of Malak betraying him. Also I've always wondered did Revan really have amnesia or was he playing the Council all along? I mean according to Kreia everything that has happened to Revan is of his own doing. Whether you play darkside or lightside Revan, is he using the Council's and Republic's resources to strike back at Malak, knowing all along who he was? In K1 it was always said how smart Revan was and how great of a strategist he was. K2 improves upon that with Kreia hyping him up. I love her but I swear she's Revan's number one cheerleader.

Have any of Atris' thoughts influenced your thinking too?I like Atris a lot too. But for the Exile I will take her into account as well as their companions and the Jedi Masters. As for Vrook. Vrook is a dick but like you said he is overly critical of both Revan and the Exile. So I thought it would be good to use his input. Kreia who is my favorite Star Wars character is a Revan's cheerleader. Like you said she praises him. I also forgot to mention for Revan I will also take into account Briana's accounts of her people's respect for him even while he slaughtered them.

I ask these questions because I'm interested in Talyn's mod, because it is so different to the norm we've been fed. We've all seen so many ideas for a K3 but this is different and I like that.
We all agree that ToR was a disaster and I am entirely interested to see the direction this goes. I think it is perfectly fair to ask how the mod will jive (if at all) with what we know from the games and what's been said since. If you want to impute impure motives go right ahead, but you'd be wrong.
As I've said twice now, it's his mod and he can do whatever he wants with it. In any event, I'm not here to argue. If I've upset anyone, sincerest apologies.Though it's been slow going because of the mod I've been replaying K2 with the restoration mod. The mod was 99% percent influenced by what Kreia, Mandalore, Dorak, Vandar, Vrook, and Bastila have to say about Revan. It was from them were I got my ideas. Also Atton who was with the Sith since the Mandalorian wars. I will also take what he says into account.
-
5 minutes ago, Mutilator57 said:So still curious, I did a bit of further checking. Here's what Kreia has to say:
"And its empire, the true Sith Empire, rules elsewhere. And Revan knew the true war was not against the Republic. It waits for us beyond the Outer Rim. And he has gone to fight it in his own way".
I think the loadscreens are more of a general guide than anything to be relied on with accuracy. Further, those loadscreens also operate on the same knowledge that the PC has. To the galaxy at-large, the true Sith appear dead. That doesn't mean they actually are.
I'd be wary of what Kreia says. Remember, she manipulates you for the entire game. It's really only at the end that she finally comes clean as to her true motives. Your second point is interesting, but more of a plot hole than anything else. When it comes down to forecasting what unknown enemy Obsidian intended Revan to face, I think it's clear that the True Sith were that enemy. In addition to the dialogue in-game, devs have confirmed this was the case.
But at the end of the day it's your mod. You include whatever you like!
Hey man thanks for your post.
But I might be bias since I am a Kreia fan, but it's been sometime since I completed K2 and I've never completed it with the restored content mod, which is why I am replaying the game with the restored content. Anyway my point is I don't remember that quote but like I said it's been sometime since I completed the game. The reason why I remember what she says on the Ebon Hawk is because I just went through that conversation. But either way I think I picked an enemy old EU fans will like. I just can't see how Nihilus's hunger could skip an empire full of Force users.

5 minutes ago, narshaddaarocks said:This sounds awesome! Best of luck on this!
Yep, Canderous said the "Sith came to them with an offer" which clearly meant the remains of Naga Sadow/Kun's forces and not the ones Bioware came up with for SWTOR. The loading screens themselves in K1 like you said stated the Sith species died out long ago, so Bioware retconed their own game!
Also, remember at the end of K2 where Kreia says Revan will need Jedi and Sith alike? Well, that's another thing Bioware changed since Revan was locked up in jail during the events of K2.
Yeah I remember what Kreia said, and has been apart of my story for years, and yeah Canderous does say when you first ask him to tell you war stories. He says what Ebony Moon posted. So since in K2 when you accompany Mandalore the other Mandalorians are wary, because they don't want to be in service to the Jedi/ SIth again. They had a bad time when they were allied with Exar Kun. So remnants of Kun's Sith could have approached them with the offer.
3 minutes ago, Ebony Moon said:I think that line referred to Ulic Qel Droma, when he recruited Mandalore. Canderous was old enough to have fought in that war.
Lol, what? So Revan wandering out there, the entire time he was in jail? Did they put him on trail before the Senate or something like that? I haven't read the book, or played any of swotor, but the more I learn about the retcon, the more I have to laugh.
If you ignore the retcons and skip the storyline about Revan SWTOR is not that bad. It's not great but not terrible. I am not an mmo fan but I did enjoy the Jedi Guardian storyline. Though I never finished because the game gets repetitive and boring. Luckily I had only subscribed for one month. But what made me annoyed besides the Revan retcon, was their was no mention of the Exile or their allies in the game. I mean if it wasn't for a lightside Exile and the Lost Jedi there wouldn't be a Jedi Order. I hate the mistreatment my Exile got by EA BioWare and the book.

I am currently in the process of playing K2 with the restored content mod, and when conversing on the Ebon Hawk, Kreia says Revan met no Sith Empire. Anyway Nihilus hunger would have driven him to the Sith if they had an Empire. Like the Jedi masters on Miraluka, Nihilus would have consumed them. It makes no sense how they could stay undetected from Nihilus for so long. SWTOR's retcons will not be addressed in the mod.

Yeah the story is currently going under slight revision since the enemy has been changed. Originally the enemy were going to be remnants of Naga Sadows empire, but then after some discussion with a forum member we came to the realization if such an empire did exist. Darth Nihilus' hunger would have driven him to consume them. So I looked up Wookiepedia and found a better threat. So yeah the story is pretty much the same only the enemy has changed.

A very big planet and three smaller planets. I wrote the story except for dialogue back in 2005/2006. But due to my insane work schedule at the time I could not start work on the mod. So I saved the story onto an external HDD. The mod has been worked on and off. I've also been freshening up on tutorials. I always have trouble memorizing steps in creating mods for KOTOR that I have to look up tutorials. But anyway I saw a skinning tutorial it doesn't look that hard. I also been reading the Script Shack here on the forum. So hopefully the only help I'll need is voice overs for the new npc's. As for this moment? Right now I am doing dialogue using voiced dialogue already in the game for both the Flagship and the big planet.

Well when I played Scout and Sentinel it was so I could fully repair Hk-47. But they are so bad in combat I had to go as a Soldier/Consular. With Consular I was able to quickly raise up repair to 15 or 17, which is enough to fully repair HK-47. I know you said you always play Consular, but Force wise their better at it too than Sentinel. In KOTOR 2 they made the Sentinel better with improvements.
I too wanted to play Scout because out of the starting classes, scout seemed more appropriate for the main character. But with Soldier/ Consular I was satisfied and got to hear all of HK's hilarious stories.
