Yeah he underestimated the Exile. The Force bond he had with Kreia and the other companions made him powerful. But it's hard staying lightside when talking to him. He is always so condescending.

That's why 98% of the time I play K2 I go darkside after talking to him. He is such a dick. Always talking down to Jedi. To make matters worse if you go darkside and fight him he is probably the hardest master to kill. I thought surviving Malak's bombardment would have made him humble. But no same old Vrook.

But seriously, I think Vrook is a big part of what is wrong with the Jedi Council. Imagine some young impressionable Jedi children hearing his rants and being told constantly they are on the path to the Dark Side for not being perfect. That is a recipe for trouble.
Yeah he is definitely a big part. Atris is hateful but that's because she feels personally betrayed by the Exile, and since Jedi are taught not to feel, like Anakin in the movies they don't know how to deal with their emotions so they brood. Vrook is hateful and condescending from the start. No one wonder so many Jedi willingly followed Revan to war.

"Nor were we. The day we cast you out, that is the moment I decided to leave the Order. Because I do not believe we truly faced the reasons you were exiled, and if we do not examine such truths, then we are already lost."

Yeah Zez, Kavar and Atris are the only Masters I like. Vrook? Vrook is a dick. First he says the Exile was mediocre then he is ungrateful when he gets rescued. My first characters for both K1 and K2 fell to the darkside after first meeting him. At least the Exile got to kill him.
1 minute ago, Ebony Moon said:At first I was like, this elevator music on Manaan! Nooo!
But now I wouldn't change it for the world. Too many good memories associated with that music. Plus the Sith base is awesome.
Yep, I really enjoy the planet. All the planets were well done in KOTOR 1. K2's planets were pretty depressing in comparison.

In KOTOR 1 my favorite planet is all of them. Even Maanan. But if I could only pick one it would be Korriban. In K2 my favorites are Dantooine and Nar Shaddaa.

Make sure to have the end-result as [in-game] WAV using the WAV converter that is provided in the tutorial. Avoid using MP3 extension with the game -either for BGM, voice-overs and/or SFX- as from recent studies it causes issue for the area music is not looping their audio as it should.
Looking forwards for updates of the project!
Okay I will give them credit in both the post and credit list when the mod is released. Yeah I'm glad I was able to recreate Canderous voice as Mandalore. SInce Canderous/Mandalore is one of my favorite characters from the game.
Soon I will post screenshots when I feel I have something worth posting.

18 minutes ago, jc2 said:I would caution you from making them "max level." IIRC k2 has a max level of 50, which would make the fights very tedious and long if all the opponents are designed to match that high level.
But that aside, the real reason I would not recommend this course of action, is that it denies the player a journey, an experience, a way to grow and react to situations. If you start off as a fully leveled player, you will not be able to edit your stats to accommodate a new threat, and the action will become repetitive because it will all be at a certain level of difficulty. For instance, if I, do not put any points in security or computer use, at the start of the game, I will never have a chance to change that. This would force me to restart the game, if there was content I was curious about locked behind or in something, whereas, if I was able to level up that skill, I could return later or load to a previous save to upgrade that skill.
Therefore, my proposition is to not have the PC start at max level, but instead place them at level 20 or level 25, allowing some player flexibility as they progress.
Just my feedback, seems like a neat idea you have there, good luck!
"We will watch your career with great interest."
You do make a lot of sense. The reason why I thought about the starting at max level was because I thought players would get annoyed they had to level up their characters again. But I did forget about the companions. I'll most likely use your idea. Thanks.
I have a question. I've been working on Darth Revan' glagship. What do you think would be a good name befitting a Dark Lord of the Sith? I was thinking of calling it "The Revanite." But don't know. Bot Vader and Malak had cool names for their flagships.

I messing around with audacity and using the SIth voice effect from the tutorial Recreating Sith Voice Effect I was able to recreate Mandalore's voice using audio files from KOTOR 1. This is great news since I plan on using voice files from original game. Big thanks to Ebmar for directing me to the tutorial, and a special thanks to FuturePilot and DarthParametric for creating the tutorial.
Here's an example:
Well back to working on the mod.

I pretty much like every planet in KOTOR. They all are unique. My really favorite one is Korriban. KOTOR 2 is my favorite game of the two but the planets are not great. The only planet I liked in that game is Nar Shaddaa. Korriban my favorite from the original is so depressing in K2. In K1 it's full of life in K2 it's desolate and depressing. The only thing I like about Korriban in K2 is when we first meet Darth Sion one of my favorite characters.

2 hours ago, DarthVarkor said:Well, to be fair. He did get owned by Luke Skywalker of all people...how else would that go down? And like I said above, that's the whole point of Kylo Ren's mask. He isn't a typical intimidating badass villain, that's why he wears the mask. His whole very insecure, unstable and unpredictable personality is what makes him interesting, to me at least.
I was not a big Anakin Skywalker fan, I personally enjoyed the prequels BUT! not for Anakin. It was the other characters like Palpatine, Obi Wan, Yoda, and Mace. But I did like how Hayden showed the conflict physically. My point is I like flawed characters. In the KOTOR games my favorite between Revan and the Exile is the Exile. Why? Cause like Anakin and Kylo they are flawed. Adam Driver is a good actor and he not only shows the conflict physically but vocally as well. I did like Kylo when I saw TFA, and defended why he was beaten by Rey in that movie, even though I thought it was a mistake JJ decided to remove the mask. But after reading what you posted. It does make sense why without the mask he looks not intimidating. With the mask he is a badass but behind the mask is a flawed and very insecure individual. You know I've only seen TFA twice and TLJ once. Although I still am not a fan of JJ that aspect of Kylo being a flawed individual behind the mask makes me re-evaluate Kylo again. Good job DarthVarkor!

1 hour ago, DarthVarkor said:I think that’s the whole point to him, really. He wants so badly to be Vader but he’s just an insecure child underneath the mask. If we’d have just gotten another masked badass villain after Vader it would have been pointless, there’s no beating him. Look at Dooku, Maul, Grevious, etc. They pale in comparison, even Sir Christopher Lee could not save that role.
To me, one of the few saving graces of TLJ is his conflicted nature. He’s what Anakin should have been in my opinion, you can clearly tell how conflicted he is in what he wants as apposed to Anakin giving wooden lines and evil glances.
...Until Rian Johnson decided to throw that away in the final act for a generic good vs evil battle, that is. Here’s hoping JJ does something interesting with him in Ep9, because he has the most potential out of all the ST characters.
I thought Kylo Ren was badass in the first scene in TFA, then they removed his mask and that killed the mystique. Adam Driver is not an intimidating person. It reminded me of when Vader removed his mask in RotJ he was just an old man. Though I agree Adam Driver does portray the conflict better than Anakin. But he is such a bad villain I mean when Luke first confronted Vader he got his hand cut off. When Rey first confronts Kylo she whoops his ass. Though at that time I let it slide cause he got shot by Chewbacca prior to the fight, and was clearly still reeling from killing his father emotionally. But then he got his ass whooped again in TLJ, that just showed he's weak. The only part I liked in TLJ is when Snoke grills Kylo. I agreed with everything he said.

JJ is a hack. He has no original ideas he just copies what came before. I can't believe Warner Brothers offered him a half a billion dollar contract to direct DCEU movies. In Hollywood it seems you can only fail upwards. As for the movie It will definitely be a RotJ rip off. As for the ST in general. I would have preferred if the movies would have taken place 1000 years after a episode VI. Having the Sith or dark Jedi or whatever the hell Kylo is. Having them return a mere 30 years later cheapens Anakin's sacrifice. if the ST took place 1000 years later than the Sith returning would have made sense. Like Darth Bane and the Sith that followed him up until Palpatine. They waited 1000 years until Palpatine and Vader destroyed the Jedi order. I know fans wanted to see Luke, Han, and Leia again but are you really happy with the treatment Disney has given the original character? 1000 years later Luke succeeded in restoring the Jedi Order and they thrived for a millennium. Luke, Han, and Leia are regarded as heroes and saviors of the Republic. Once the Sith return Luke could return as a Force ghost to train the new protagonist. Anyway that's my idea.

I know this is I am heeding your advice. I wrote that part in a hurry and sometimes when I am thinking while typing, what I think I type without realizing. But yes you know I appreciate all the help you have given me with your audio files, and I will show you something once I feel I have something worth showing. As of now the one big planet I've put together is empty. I am going to populate it soon and add dialogue. Also I am waiting for Thor110 to update their KOTOR Modding Tutorial Series. I am waiting for when they teach how to place placeables in unique ways so as not to feel like the same old vanilla planets.

I've been working on a mod for KOTOR 2 for the past year and a half solo. The mod is my vision of what KOTOR 3 could have been. The mod starts 5 years before the events of KOTOR 2 and a month after the end of the original KOTOR. The mod will ignore the 'canon" set by SWTOR. The mod will span 5 or more years. You will be able to control both Revan and the Exile during specific plot points. In the beginning of the mod you are in a locked room only with a terminal. When you click on the terminal you will be asked questions like. What gender was Revan and the Exile and what alignment were they? There are two paths to the mod one is a lightside path the other is darkside path. Depending on your answers you will either start as Darth Revan on his flagship or if you use the lightside you will start off as the Prodigal Knight on a big planet. Think Taris but bigger. There will be two big planets and several small planets. The smaller planets are the enemy's slave worlds. For now I will not reveal who the enemy are. All I would say they are more brutal than both the Mandalorians and Sith. This enemy is the reason for both Revan and Malak's fall, and is the threat Kreia speaks of.
Also you will start off at max level so you can choose the attributes and powers for your Revan and Exile. In the beginning you will play as Revan, once the time comes to play as the Exile you will be taken to the character creation screen where you can customize the Exile. The reason why you will start off at max level is because the enemy will be tough, and since they are dead to the Force they will have high saves making them almost immune to your Force powers. There will be human and other alien slave warriors that can be killed with the Force. I do not recommend playing as a Jedi Consular or Sith Lord unless you want a challenge. Also I forgot to say depending on your alignment you will either get all your K1 companions (Lightside) or only Bastila, Canderous, HK47, and T3M4 (Darkside). The Exile will also get all their K2 companions. Since I don't have the luxury of hiring the original voice actors. The mod will be using spliced dialogue you since their voices.
I will need to recruit voice actors for the new npc's and temporary companions. Also I will need to recruit a texture artist to reskin the modules and a talented scripter. But that's in the near future for now I am busy with world building, audio, npc's, dialogue, and items. Well that's all for now. When I get the modules retextured I will post screenshots. If you know anyone who is a texture artist, voice actor, or scripter let me know either here or by PM. If anyone has suggestion let me know also.
Todo list for now:
Put together 5 more planets one will be big and the enemy's homeworld. Currently 3 out of the four Republic planets are done.
Finish Revan's Flagship. I am using the Leviathan module as a base and am having some issues like, locating textures for it and were to put the rest of the K1 files. Module 90% done. I used this tutorial:
Finish replacing npc's with new npc's on planets already done.

There you will find some very useful tools you'll need to properly decompress the fake-header WAV that the game uses originally.
Thanks for the link. I will check it out.

That was easy to follow. Now I have new Sith Trooper voices. This perfect for the current stage I am at in my mods development. Thanks once again.

Can this be used to decompress wav files? Because the audio in both KOTOR games is compressed, and I need to find a program that decompress them.

5 hours ago, ebmar said:Oh! That was close enough then, hahah. So, you can access the layout/LYT of the relevant module [m40ad] through here -
- Kotor I \ BIFs \ layouts \ m40ad.lyt
If you need the VIS file you can also grab that here -
- Kotor I \ BIFs \ lightmaps12 \ m40ad.vis
By name they should match - though in [in-game] application it could have been something else. I recall two of them modules did that.
The definitive answer lies within the first few words there... Hahah, JK - may the Force serve you well, and looking forwards for an update from your mod!
Hey! I already got the layout and lightmaps thanks. As for the mod updates once I have something presentable I will open a wip thread.

10 hours ago, ebmar said:The prefix you find for is LSI_XYZ and LZZ_XYZ. Leviathan and Sith Base -both Taris and Manaan- share the same textures for their areas. You will need [KotOR Tool] (https://deadlystream.com/files/file/280-kotor-tool/) to extract them from the game files.
Edit: in case I catch you wrong - if you mean by map is the mini-map shown in the GUI/game menu, you may want to access them through this path:
- Kotor I \ ERFs \ TexturePacks \ swpc_tex_gui \ L \ lbl_mapm40ad
This seem to be the right place. - well, as long as you get this thread updated with progress report of your WIP - that's how I see it, hahah.
Hey thanks for the answers. What I meant by map was the layout of the module. BUT!!! You did answer one of my questions I also needed to extract the mini map gui. Oh and yes I know about the KOTOR Tool I remember when it was first released. lol
As for my mod for now I will keep it secret. All I will say I've been working on it off and on for the past year and a half. I will also say that the mod is my vision of what a KOTOR 3 could have been. The lore established by SWTOR will not be taken into account. But yeah for now I will try to keep it secret although it's hard. Although I want to talk about it but I have a big mouth, and don't want to spoil the epic story for anyone, and god willing if my job doesn't get in the way the mod will be epic.

Don't know if this is the right place, but since my mod is wip I figures I post here. I am working on a mod and want to use a map from K1 into K2. I followed this tutorial:
and when it comes to the part where I have to extract the textures for the map, I cannot find the textures. In fact I can't find textures for any map. The map I am interested in using is the Leviathan map. Specifically "m40ad." Can someone help?

This is great news for me. I've been working on a mod solo and incognito. The details of which I will not discuss since I don't want to spoil the story. But suffice to say since I'm using Kreia for flashbacks and intend to splice her voice files to create dialogue. if these lines are already recorded by the excellent voice actress. I can use them in my mod.

It's too bad he wasn't of the Council members that were killed by Nihilus on Visas homeworld. When I first played K2 I was hoping to see Vandar again, since my favorite SW alien is Yoda. Plus it would have been funny to fight him.
