About This File

This mod replaces the longswords used during the training sequence with lightsabers, as it is seen in the movies that even younglings train with those.
The mod uses no scripts and you don't have to give yourself the lightsaber proficiency feat with KSE or something similar. Additionally you won't have the annoying humming sound present when simply replacing the training saber with a lightsaber.

Installation:
Simply let TSL Patcher do its magic. It should find your KotOR installation automatically. If it doesn't and you have to select it manually, choose the folder that includes swkotor.exe. Do NOT delete the backup folder that is created during the installation, you'll need it if you ever want to uninstall this mod.

Uninstallation:
Delete dan13_practice.uti from your Override folder. Then copy baseitems.2da from the backup folder created while installing this mod to your Override and replace the one that is already there. Skip this step if you installed any mods that also alter baseitems.2da after this one. This mod will not be fully uninstalled in that case but every effect it has on the game will be gone as intended. If there is no baseitems.2da in your backup folder, simply delete the one in your Override folder (unless you installed another mod editing it later).

Compabilitiy:
Thanks to TSLPatcher this mod is compatible with everything that does not edit the training saber (dan13_practice.uti)

At last, thank you! I downloaded a mod like this back on kotorfiles but I always had to give my character lightsaber proficiency for it to work.

Downloaded this mod, love the concept! But my experience has been... interesting. Instead of trying to cut off Bastila's head for realz, I found myself waving around an air lightsaber instead of the real thing. Afterwards, I found two "Long Swords" in my inventory which definitely weren't there before, and which were very clearly lightsabers in all but name.
So, yeah, not sure what caused this ^^; Probably going to contact the mod author later to see if they can provide details on fixing this for future playthroughs/downloaders.
Also, screenshots, because pictures are supposedly worth a thousand words.

(Apologies for links, I don't want enormous pictures blocking up the feed, and I don't know how to style them yet)

Looks like something screwed up during the installation. The invisible saber would usually be due to your character not having a necessary feat, but there is no requirement for wielding the training saber item. And the script that gives you the saber and that also takes it away afterwards is not touched by this mod. I don't see how this can happen but I'd guess it was a mod incompability.

I'm having the same problem. I thought it was due to a "Hide weapons during cutscenes" mod I had, but after a fresh install with JUST this mod installed, the same effect is happening.

For me has worked fine.

Answering the -old- post of Voxdog, with K1 Restoration, when you arrive for the first time at Jedi Council, in the training room are presents a Master and an apprentice training with simple swords and precisely the student complains his master about it instead use Light Sabers. The master says him that is not prepared yet. Using normal swords make sense like any other training story (the gladiators didn't begin their training with metal swords but wood swords).

In KotOR without Restoration there are not presents these Master and apprentice so this MOD would be less contradictory that with the restored version.

Well, just an opinion.

Anyway nice MOD, perfect scene and brilliant work.
