Guest Dark_Ansem Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 I wonder how much you think it's difficult to add brand new music and areas to the game. I got the tutorial at Lucasforums but it does not specify the maximum bitrate music can have or if we are limited with new areas BTW, which The Sith Lords tracks you feel are entirely missing/entirely forgettable? VarsityPuppet Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Most of the difficulty comes with the legal issues of which songs you can use. Quote
Guest Dark_Ansem Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I'm more concerned about actually implementing it, I'm not a fool and know copyrighted stuff can't be put in-game Quote
VarsityPuppet Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Didn't say you were a fool. With modding, you sort of follow the tutorials, but whatever is not known or mentioned you kind of have to test for yourself. Quote
MrPhil Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Yeah, but you've got to admit that the adding music part is mostly under-documented for same legal reasons... Quote
Guest Dark_Ansem Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 (edited) will experiment then. I asked because I read somewhere that when importing models/textures in TSL we are limited (but they forgot to mention HOW limited...)... wonderful, no more Miles Sound Tools available. how will I decompress the original wav files I wonder. VarsityPuppet Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 rename the file extension to mp3... works for the VOs Quote
Guest Dark_Ansem Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 VO do not concern me, I'm more interested about music and ambience... VO is pretty good even in vanilla game! besides, adding entirely new soundsets has never been done, at least for TSL... Quote
Guest DeadMan Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 If I remember right, KotOR/TSL doesn't have restriction on maximum bitrate in MP3s. I could be wrong, 'cause I didn't worked with sound for three years. I'll check it a little later. Quote
Guest DeadMan Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I never tried to use WAVs But I may check it when I will be back at home. Quote
Guest Dark_Ansem Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 thanks as I said, no more free MilesSoundTools means vanilla stuff can't be improved... Quote
Hassat Hunter Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Just PM me your e-mail and I can send you the installer I have. What makes you think it's no longer free? Quote
Guest Dark_Ansem Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 that I went to the official website and the whole thing has been updated. there's not even a milessoundtools anymore. Quote
Guest Dark_Ansem Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I have to ask : which tracks do you really believe are the most forgettable ones / could be improved / are completely absent in The sith lords? I can at least tell the most obvious examples: boss battle music the Jedi Masters, the big thing in telos station, HK-50 the 1st (but with TSLRCM it could be a fixed boss battle music), heck, even the final boss (it's way too similar to the final dungeon battle music)! Sith Holocron Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 It seems appropriate to remind folks how they can set up their own TSL soundtrack using their PC game discs: Just mosey on over to this website to learn how to do it yourself: TSL soundtrack instructions at MixNMojo. A note on the instructions: the link to the track on the page above called "Jek Jek Tarr Battle" is no longer available at Mark Griskey's website. (Legal reasons apparently caused him to take it down.) I'm sure resourceful folks can find a copy on the internet if they were Instructions to extracting the music from the original KotOR game can be found here: KotOR soundtrack instructions at MixNMojo. Guest Dark_Ansem Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 do you believe THIS format http://www.all4mp3.com/Learn_mp3_hd_1.aspx would be supported by TSL? instead of Hi-quality WAV files (since FLAC is not supported) that can quickly add to dimension? Quote
Guest Crixler Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 It's a pretty obscure format, I wouldn't be surprised if it's never been tried yet. I say go ahead and try it out. But in order to play those kinds of MP3s in, say, Winamp, you do need a special codec, so I wouldn't be too surprised if it doesn't work out. Quote
Guest Dark_Ansem Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 it's said to be retroactively compatible... unless I'm mistaken. Quote

Sith Holocron Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Am I missing something/think something could be grouped, for musical purpose? What about boss battles from add-on mods? I could think of at least two battles from Newbiemodder's Korriban Expansion that could use new music. Quote
Guest Dark_Ansem Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 that someone else should list them and I thought to start from "vanilla game-as it was meant to be" Quote
