Guest cornel Posted March 11, 2016 Is there a way to disable the "beep-beep-boop" popup boxes with the droids dialog? (I've looked in the dialog and maininterface gui files, but cannot find an entry for those boxes...)
Fair Strides 509 Posted March 11, 2016 It'd be the bark bubble .gui file, but if you were to get rid of this, you'd be disabling every instance of one-line dialogs in the game (signs, random NPCs, descriptive dialog from placeables or doors, .etc)... Guest cornel Posted March 11, 2016 Do you think i could play the game without the extra info from the barkbubbles (what a funky name, lol!) ?
Fair Strides 509 Posted March 11, 2016 Highly debatable. I'd be inclined to say "No", but other people might be inclined to say "Yes."
Guest cornel Posted March 11, 2016 What I meant to ask was: is there essential information (needed for game play) that is ONLY available through those bark bubbles?
Fair Strides 509 Posted March 11, 2016 If memory serves, you should be safe. Other than the message about your ruined map under the Jekk'Jekk Tar, I can't think of anything important.
VarsityPuppet 1,085 Posted March 11, 2016 If memory serves, you should be safe. Other than the message about your ruined map under the Jekk'Jekk Tar, I can't think of anything important. I think there are several instances that say you can't open a door for some story related reasons.
Guest cornel Posted March 11, 2016 Okay, got it. Many thanks for the info guys!
Hassat Hunter 571 Posted March 12, 2016 Or you could just alter the droids .utc in question not to have an attached dialogue. Or delete their dialog file. Or remove the "voice" files (if the beeping just annoys you). So many options.
Guest cornel Posted March 12, 2016 Thanks HH. Editing all characters utc files would be more work than editing the barkbubble. I've actually already removed all voice sound files (except for grunts, gasps, etc.), but I like the robot beeps (I've replaced the KOTOR T3 sound files with some of the TSL T3 sound files, because I use the T3 to R2 mod, and the TSL sounds are like R2D2 sounds...) I've modified the dialog texts to change the game's era to after the original trilogy movies and after Thrawn... Here's the intro of the mod: https://youtu.be/BFkJ0404hvM This is just something I'm doing to adjust the game to my personal tastes... but if possible (depends on the willingness of other modders to let me include their work in my mod), I will make the mod available for everyone, by uploading it here. Guest cornel Posted March 12, 2016 It's not private... but it took some time to upload it. Should be online now.
JCarter426 1,215 Posted March 15, 2016 I'm dropping by because I was just doing a bit of testing and wondering hey, why aren't there any pop-up boxes? And after a while I remembered I disabled them with the GUI file ages ago. So actually I'd say yes, there sort of is some vital information in them. Stuff like the shuttles saying whether you can use them or not, and a few hints like the cantina trash on Onderon... and I presume there are examples in K1 as well. But if you really want to remove all of the pop-ups, you could go through and add the exceptions back in; all you need to do is make the conversations have multiple non-empty nodes.
