Decided to reinstall TSL, and I'm getting a CRC error about 5 minutes in on CD 3, after which I can only exit the installer. Does anyone have any experience with that?

I found a lot of other posts via google, but maybe someone here knows it first hand?

For the 4 disk Kotor 2 try this:

If you have a blank USB copy all of the files for Kotor onto the USB and install from the thumb drive. For some people this can solve a multitude of errors while installing. I am not sure if it will fix your error in specific, but since it uses a different drive it might.

I will try that, thanks. :D

Edit: Didn't work, that gives me the a CRC error aswell. :( Seems like the CD is damaged... it has some minor scratches, but I've never seen a CD not work anymore from such little damage. I have 15 year old CDs that passed many hands and are in a terrible condition, and yet they still work like a charm. :/

This may sound odd, but try wiping the crashing disk off with a dry cloth.

I got that error a few times due to having wax on it (don't ask). After scraping it off, and wiping it down, it worked again. Is it saying verbatim "cyclic redundancy error"?

Trust me, I've cleaned it. :)

And I don't know what the exact English error message would be, could only give a German screenshot.

There you go. Seems like unfixable CD damage, though. Installed the game using a friend's CD now.

I now know that the installing error definitely came from the CD. Being clean and only having 2 minor scratches, something must still have been broken. Reading the CD in ISOBuster showed a terrifying lot of bad sectors, making about 3% unreadable.
