Rovan 6 Posted September 29, 2014 Unfortunately, one of the safeguards to prevent KOTOR 2 from being updated (and having TSLRCM being erased along with it) seems to have been removed whenever Steam got its new makeover. Is there a way to prevent the game from being updated now, or is it too late? Sorry if this was already covered a few weeks/months ago, just wanted to make sure. Traveller 5 Posted September 29, 2014 A quick look on the Steam forums shows that there are options, ranging from opening Steam's config.vdf file and editing it, to opening the Steam console and making the changes there. Check this thread on the Steam forums for details.

Fair Strides 509 Posted September 30, 2014 Nice! When I heard about the Steam update and the change to the Updater's policy, I thought we'd have to say goodbye to the Steam users...

Fair Strides 509 Posted October 1, 2014 wait..what's wrong with the steam version? ohgodhowscrewedamI To use TSLRCM, or mods in general, you have to turn off the Steam Updater for the game. With the newest update, turning off the Updater was thought impossible...
Xuul 224 Posted October 1, 2014 From what I can tell this will not effect modding... Not without a new official version of Kotor coming out at any rate. According to a Valve Rep "Do not automatically update this game" toggle set the game to only check for updates on launch. It did not prevent updates for a very long time and modding has worked since then. They only changed the name- at least from what they've said. I've been running without changing anything since and haven't had a problem. Vik 6occ 1 Posted October 1, 2014 That's what I was thinking, updates on would only mean trouble if a new update were released, but that seems rather unlikely. Unless there was some other reason beyond my capability, also possible, with you guys talkin of .wavs and modules and other fun things.

ttamgoud 0 Posted November 25, 2014 nevermind i found it but i am unable to find where to turn auto updates off, the three choices: are always keep up to date, only update this game when i launch it, and high priority always auto update this game before others. how do i turn it off? Kexikus 995 Posted November 26, 2014 That's the point of this thread. It's no longer possible to turn updates off, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter which setting you use (unless an official KotOR update is released, which is pretty unlikely). Mine is set to "always keep up to date" and I had no problems at all.
Violetshadow 0 Posted December 30, 2014 I have 'only update this game when I launch it' on and haven't had any issues yet. Both my VtM Bloodlines and KOTOR 2 stay modded
