milestails 264 Posted October 27, 2013 Awesome mod!
bead-v 251 Posted February 3, 2017 While it does use the TSLpatcher, this mod does not update the references to the new appearance.2da lines it adds in the .utc and .uti, making it incompatible with any mod that modifies appearance.2da installed before this one, so that also includes K1R. Since it's an awesome mod, I really hope one of the authors fixes this small issue.
Guest Qui-Gon Glenn Posted February 12, 2017 Hello I sucked then with the patcher, and I have not improved since. Nevertheless, this would be an easy fix, I would be happy to do it. I wrote all the code, so I think that should qualify me as the guy to update it. But, bead-v.... You helped me make that mod, maybe you can illuminate my error with the patcher. I will PM you. Thanks for posting this, I thought the mod worked fine but my testing was limited to testing just this mod on a clean install.
bead-v 251 Posted February 12, 2017 Here's (a quite detailed description of) what you have to do:First, for some reason, you add two rows with the same stalker appearance. You can just delete one of them in the Patcher's Editor. Next, double click on the line that's left. In the 'Set column value' box, set the first (Column) field to 2DAMEMORY1 and the second (Value) field to RowLabel. You should also set the 'Label of exclusive column' field to 'label'. (This will prevent adding a new line to the .2da if a line with the same value in the 'label' column already exists. Instead it will update that line.)Now click the red arrow pointing towards the list of row values. This should save 2DAMEMORY1 RowLabel at the bottom of the list. Now you need to make sure that the files that are using the stalker's appearance (the .utc and the .uti) have the same RowLabel (ie. row number) in their Appearance fields as the new .2da row you added. You've already saved the row number to 2DAMEMORY1. Now you need to move the .utc and .uti from Install Files (which simply copies them) to GFF Files. Once you add a file, type into 'GFF Field' the name of the relevant field (the ones that must match the appearance.2da row), and for the Value use 2DAMEMORY1. Then save it by pushing the red arrow pointing upward. So the patcher will now do this: first, add the new .2da line, save the line number it added it as to 2DAMEMORY1, then use that to update the .utc and the .uti with the correct line number, then copy them to override. Don't forget to remove the .utc and .uti from Install Files and make sure everything else is as it should be as well, obviously.
Guest Qui-Gon Glenn Posted February 12, 2017 Lol.... I didn't expect you to lay it out so.... Explicitly I will work on it now. J7 did the patcher for this; I told him I didn't have time and most of what needed the patcher was .2da files, which I didn't touch. That said, I do have the time now and probably should have done it for him then, since that is technically a scripter's job. Thanks bead-v!
Guest Qui-Gon Glenn Posted February 13, 2017 Lol.... Still a PITA JOY to mod this game I am having issues with Kotor Tool, specifically the .2da editor is not happy and therefore I cannot delete that line of the newappearance.2da. I will uninstall and reinstall KTool, and see if memory can serve as to why I am having this issue and if I am also using a hammer instead of a screwdriver. Nevertheless, it appears that I need to eliminate the double entry that you mentioned, bead-v, in the newappearance.2da. You say "Patcher's Editor".... I guess I need to play around more with the Patcher prog itself. I am obviously missing something, when you talk about pushing red arrows upward >.< Very rusty, am I. I also want to add the sound files, but I don't think that will be too difficult. I will spend some more time reading the TSLPatcher readme, see if I can answer all of this myself. But, if anyone knows special tricks for getting KotOR Tool to work properly in a Win 10 64bit environment, I am all eyes. EDIT: I have found the Changes editor. Unexpectedly, it is called ChangeEdit, which is far too obvious for me. So, I have this question: In j7's newappearance.2da, there are the following identical entries, 509&510: 509 n_sithsk2 **** n_sithsk2 1.2 5.4 1.2 5.4 n_sithsk2 F **** **** n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 **** n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 **** **** **** **** **** DEFAULT R **** 1 NORM 50 5.4 0.25 0.35 0.4 **** 1 l 0 20 1 1 **** **** 1 3 **** **** **** **** 9 0 0 0 30 15 **** 1 1.4 0 7 **** **** **** **** -1 **** **** 510 n_sithsk2 **** n_sithsk2 1.2 5.4 1.2 5.4 n_sithsk2 F **** **** n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 **** n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 n_sithsk2 **** **** **** **** **** DEFAULT R **** 1 NORM 50 5.4 0.25 0.35 0.4 **** 1 l 0 20 1 1 **** **** 1 3 **** **** **** **** 9 0 0 0 30 15 **** 1 1.4 0 7 **** **** **** **** -1 **** **** These are identical, obviously one should be eliminated. However, in the changes.ini, for the 2da from his version of the installer, there are two entries: AddRow0 appearance_row_n_sithsk2_0 AddRow1 appearance_row_n_sithsk2_1 Is this also an error, or is this somehow for male/female? I never modded appearances too deeply, so I am out of my element. I know I should cut line 510, is that accomplished by simply eliminating the AddRow1? EDIT2: So, I am a little confused by the ChangeEditor and how to add a folder of sound files. It seems that the editor prefers to insert files directly, and will ignore paths. The way the game accepts streamwaves, this will not work as IIRC there needs to be a subfolder. I have made some edits, and will give the current revision a test and see what I have screwed up, and if anything actually goes to the right place. If so, hooray me, but otherwise I will be back here with another edit and perhaps a better formed question

I don't know why there were two in the original release, but you only need one. So yes, delete AddRow1 EDIT: btw, the "appearance_row_n_sithsk2_0" and "..._1" is just the Patcher's name for adding that specific row. So the rows are still the same, the Patcher just calls every instance of adding it differently. As for the sound files, I'll check the Patcher's options and report back, hold on. EDIT: Seems to me like you just put it in 'Install Files' and type the relative path in the 'Folder name' field, taking the game folder (swkotor) as the root. Also, use backslash for the subfolders. Thank you, I figured that was the case. I have edited the appearance successfully, but I am still concerned that I am getting the paths correct on the sound files. However, your reminder of backslash for the folder was important haha! I will do a test install here in a minute, to see if the sound installs properly. Then, I just need to start up a game.... the mod happens pretty early and then perhaps I can get someone to do a final test for me. Thanks again bead-v, you have been added to the readme for the credit you deserved.

And if you want me to test it just ask. I have successfully added the sound files to the installer, and it puts them in the right place. I think I may have botched the attributes section of the installer for the uti and utc, but that will be easily remedied at this point. If I get it working ok for me, of course I will send it to you for a test! As for the credit.... we actually spent a fair amount of time on the Team Hssiss chat room back in the day, hammering away at this. I wrote the code, but you led me there with a path of breadcrumbs EDIT: DOH! I do not have my DVD with me... I will have to game test this tomorrow, on the clock of course lol.... I have some down time at the moment while the company is shooting out one of my sets. I will try and remember to bring it with me, and give this thing a whirl. EDIT2: I have definitely hosed the uti/utc portion of this. When I open the new qg_sithstalker.utc in my Override with KotOR Tool, the appearance field is red and blank. I will bother you tomorrow! bead-v 251 Posted February 14, 2017 A path of *beads*, come on! lol nvm bad joke I don't actually remember that it was this mod, I remember when it was in the making on Holowan, but not from Hssiss... Though I spent so much time there, it would be impossible to remember everything. I re-read your first post before and got a little confused by "you helped me make that mod" for that reason
Guest Qui-Gon Glenn Posted February 14, 2017 Indeed it was this mod, although you also helped me with my "subroutine"/#include tutorial on LF, along with TimBob13 I think (I am sure I am butchering his name) Basically, you and VP were the guys that answered questions for me on the Hssiss chatroom, and you in particular had a style of teaching that was effective for me, so I appreciate that Old dogs still learn new tricks occasionally. I couldn't find my disk this morning, so I will try a no-dvd exe and see if test it, and properly apply the 2DAMEMORY1 token

Thanks! Alrighty, PM me the files once you're done. PS: I kinda feel like we should have moved to PMs a few posts ago already. Maybe I should've PMed you with the instructions in the first place. Anyway it really feels like SH is gonna suddenly come out of the shadows and delete half this thread.
Fair Strides 509 Posted February 15, 2017 And a quick tip for you, QGG, before you test the installer: In the appearance.2da row entry in ChangeEdit (the | is the separator between the columns): 2DAMEMORY1 | RowIndex And in the relevant .uti/.utc file: "Appearance_Type" (without quotes) in the path/field box (should be the top box of the lower section in the editing section for the file) and 2DAMEMORY1 in the Value box below that.
Sith Holocron 2,472 Posted February 15, 2017 As it's on topic, I'll allow it. Might be better for PMs though.
