Atton vs Darth Sion

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been playing KOTOR2 with the restored content mod for a few days and I am near the end, Malachor V.  So far the changes the mod has made have been uniformly excellent and there have been very few glitches (come conversations fly past at warp speed so you have to go and read them in the dialog log).  I have reached a point I don't appear to be able to navigate though.

I never turned Atton to Jedi, simply because I rarely took him anywhere with me.

One of the restored bits of content seems to be a showdown between Atton and Sion after Kreia disables Mira, Visas, etc.  I don't appear to be able to win that battle with Atton still a Scoundrel.

I have kited Sion around the room while healing, using shields, and occasionally peppering him with blaster fire.  As soon as he reaches 50% health he force drains me until he is back up to about 75% health, forever, until i run out of shields or health packs.

Is it possible to beat Sion with Atton not being a Jedi?

cheers,

Andrew

Absolutely. Use rapid shot.

Absolutely. Use rapid shot.

That was what I tried, rapid shot and a lot of "precise shot" feats to make Atton's shots hard to deflect.  Usually one or all of them is deflected though.  Even if I have a good round and do ~50 damage, Sion can drain me for more than that every turn.

a lot of "precise shot"

No-no, rapid shot exactly. Use shield and first aid. And run...

I don't mean Sniper Shot - precise shot is a passive feat that causes more damage and makes shots harder to deflect.

I use shields and first aid and run, a lot.  I can fairly easily scrub off 50% of Sion's health, but Force Drain is a ranged attack that he can spam quickly enough that he can heal faster than I can hurt him, and shields do not seem to stop it.

I think I will have to give up.  I can't imagine how many hours I would have to go back to have time to convert Atton to Jedi.

Use verpine shields, use implant, use good pistols... Atton-Jedi will not help. Speed - all that you need.

Then try to upgrade the micropulse blaster with a Mandalorian chamber.

Oh man, I kind of wonder how I'll fare against Sion. My Atton is a Jedi but he's super killer with dual wield blasters.

Although, not as good as my HK build! Mwahahaha!

Also, this might just be me, but I feel like turning Atton into a Jedi makes him less effective.

Yeah I have Mira with dual wield blasters and she is devastating - the Jedi powers are key though, because adding Master Speed into the mix with 2 pistols, 30-odd Dex and Rapid Shot and you're outputting around 200 damage a round.  I should have done the same with Atton perhaps, but I have ignored him.  The last time you get to use a workbench is unfortunately a long way back from Malachor V - probably way back before you fly to Dantooine to meet the council, so Atton's gear is unfortunately crap.

Hmmm. On the Xbox, I found a workbench close to Sion as the Exile...

It was in a small cubby room.

Unfortunately it's all cut-scenes up to that point.  It seems like the game basically drives itself from the point where you meet the jedi council.  The fight with handmaiden's sisters, atris, malachor's surface as the exile and as the remote and as Mira all happen automatically with cut-scenes in between, but no opportunity to upgrade Atton's gear.

Simple, un-equip the exile's uber saber (unless of course you used the exiles cristal on this one, if there's only one) and then equip-it on Atton. Unequip right before you finish your fight with Sion. You know, you also have the option to loose against Sion, at which point the game should continue...

Right, forgot this detail, forget I said anything but this little part "You know, you also have the option to loose against Sion, at which point the game should continue..."

Yup, it's no block.

If Atton really can't win for you, enjoy the alternative ending.

Which I personally like more than the "Atton lives" one, but I'm evil :)

Ah - I think I had some manner of bug here then, because when Atton went down I got the "All of your party are dead" message followed by the option to load last save, choose a save, or quit.

I just had another go, trying a stealthy tactic, and while I could go into stealth and shoot the apparently unaware Darth Sion, I never seemed to get any Sneak Attack bonus damage.  Boo.  However, when Atton died I got a cut-scene and am now back in control of the Exile, so that's all good.  I thought I was properly stuck!

Well if you could go stealth, why didn't you lay a crap-load of mines?

Found an exploit where if you run enough, Sion will get stuck behind the room columns. If you've stockpiled enough grenades like I did you can hit him with your best ones until he is dead. And yes you need a bunch of life support packs for when he hits you with life absorb. But beat him with just vanilla Atton, no force powers.
