Constar 23 Posted January 20, 2015 Hi, some of you may know my Atton 4K retexture (if you don't you can find it here: http://deadlystream.com/forum/files/file/441-4k-atton/ ) I got a lot of positive feedback for my texture back then and decided to do more.Here is what I currently have in queue: - T3-M4 clean version (K1-Stle) - T3-M4 worn out version (K2-Style) - Mandalorians - Kreia - TSF and Lt. Grenn I will post pictures and updates in this thread whenever I can. (lower arm-protectors, gloves and one leg are not reskinned, and I am also not happy with the back of his head yet.) What do you guys think about the mask? I wanted it to look more swtor like. But the truth is that I am just really struggling with my Finals at the moment. my (hopefully) last exam is on next Monday. After that I will finish a bunch of Kotor and TSL projects that I started and that are currently at queue. To show you that I am not just talking: A potential skybox for Raxus Prime. Yes. Raxus prime. I also finished a complete Reskin of a existing module ingame, that I want to use for Raxus. The skybox is in a very raw and unfinished state, but I really just wanted to show you that I am still working on things. This image is completely made of photos from a website called cgtextures.com . They offer free ressources, especially for modders. I just got myself a big bunch of pictures of old machine parts, Industrial buildings and piles of trash from there; created a 4x1k document in Photoshop and started making a little collage. Constar 23 Posted May 9, 2015 So here's something that I planned to do for quite some time. I am working on a reskin for the TSF! I know that they are supposed to be something like the police of Telos, but considering how expensive and important the restoration of Telos is they still looked lame. So I am giving them a rework. I will try to keep the original color-scheme, since I liked it a lot, but I will take a somewhat more militaristic approach. The image below shows my progress so far: As you can see I consider the commander's body texture as nearly done. You can Lt. Grenn sporting his new uniform on the right. The texture on the left is about half done, although I am not fully decided on some parts. Maybe The common troops will get a more armored look. Since I am already working with this model, I am considering to also do the Republic soldiers (especially for K1). Except for getting them into a higher resolution and redetail them, I am not yet sure what to do with them. Constar 23 Posted July 16, 2015 Quick update: Nope, I am not dead and Nope, I have not lost my interest in modding the Kotor Games. Project 1: Military Reskins This project is focused on giving the Troops in Kotor 1 and 2 a more realistic, dark and war-torn look. -TSF is nearly completed and will be released soon! -Mandalorians are somewhat back to zero. I really didn't like my redesign in the end and want to re do it. -Republic Troops are in the works. Somewhat like the TSF, the Republic Soldiers and Officers will get a complete redesign. This redesign is pretty close to the Trooper-design from TOR. It will use a Black, White and Red color-scheme and will involve a lot more armored parts. This will HEAVILY rely on cubemaps, since the models themselves have a very slim appearance. -Sith Troops... I actually don't have a design for them yet. In my honest opinion they look very weird in the Kotor Games and I don't really like the Sith Military in TOR either. Ideas are very welcome. Project 2: The stuff you had a glimpse of I am talking about that skybox. It's part of a really big project. I made a lot of progress here, but it's still less that 5% finished tbh. But don't worry, I am back and I will pick my texture work back up - But I cannot say how fast or slow I will progress, I will just try to post updates in here once in a while.So let's get to it: You remember that I was working on a Kreia retexture, yes? Any news on the Kreia/Darth Traya reskin? As of late I have become a tad intolerant of the somewhat dated textures in the vanilla game Well yes and no: working on it, but the way kotor stretches textures and applies them to models really messes up every type of fabric texture I try on her robe... And I am not happy with that. If I find an option that pleases me or is good enough in my opinion I will post a screenshot and probably get that texture up here. But for now you just have to wait a bit... TSF textures! Still workin on it. Mandos: at the end of my queue. Really hard and the results were really not good enough for me to upload. Sith and Republic: Same as Mandos... Partymembers exept Kreia (and Atton obviously): I really like what Darth Sapien did! No need to do characters they already did. Go and check out their incredible work (you probably have it in your override anyway, like any sane person would) But wait, there's more!A little easter suprise for you guys!*insert epic drum roll sound effect here* SOMETHING NEW! I put a lot of work and thought in it, and it is far from finished! That is cool! Unique looking texture! Thank you! Glad you guys like it! Now that you know who that dude is, I think it is time for a little rant about Mical: Dear Obsidian, WTF? I really can not describe my disappointment in vanilla Micals design - it is bad on so many levels! Let's begin with his head: That face looks like a saggy, 50 year old dude who had some botox injections that went horribly wrong! And that haircut? Looks like it came straight from "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" 's design board. Don't agree with me? Take a look at the following picture and rethink your point of view: http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/9/96/Mical.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20091106063717 The clothing texture: Looks like a place holder to be honest! Never seen something less interesting - and I waited in front of my oven to watch my pizza slowly getting brown many times, so believe me that it is boring and not original or interesting AT ALL. And if you don't believe me that this is a placeholder texture, think about this: THERE ARE NOT EVEN DARKSIDE TRANSITIONS FOR HIS CLOTHING! All the had to do was to darken the texture 20%. like they did with most of the other characters' clothing. Here is what I honestly believe happened in Obsidian, when they were creating Mical: He was designed to be a mere NPC who gives you quests to fetch holocrons and Jedi Artifacts from across the galaxy. Then someone in Obsidian had the idea for the player to take Mical along to those quests and put him in handmaiden's character slot. Somehow they cut those quests from the final draft of the game - but Mical remained. They probably had written some dialogue for this guy and even cool concepts. But they simply did not have enough time to get a decent design for this character. Someone decided that he would take Handmaidens spot if the player was female and now they had to re-write a lot of dialogue. And then someone had the (very good) Idea to put Atton into the game - so the design team was busy with a completely new character. In the end they kept the placeholder character in there, and added a really lame voice-over to go with the "design". So, here is what I did to those textures, why I did it, and what I am going to do next: - Hair: get rid of the terrible hair cut and give him something more 2016 appropriate. - Face: get him into shape - make him look less old and less dull. - General appearance: This dude is a jedi-archaeologist! He ventures into ancient ruins and old archives. In my eyes he should be the Star Wars version of Nathan Drake or Indiana Jones! Yes, I am aware that he also is a historian and librarian. Sure - But look at Jocasta Nu for example - She looks 10 times more adventurous, dangerous and interesting than him. - Clothing: As I said, adventurer-style. The Shemagh is there to make up for the boring and bad vest-design (It is really boring and bad, you cannot argue that!). Also I put a leather pattern on the vest. Made the Trousers somewhat more jeans like. - Mirialan Version: relly just an homage to the Mirialan Mical Mod, I respect that one because it was the first try to make him less plain. - Darkside Transitions: I plan to also add dark side versions of his clothing - I plan to do that by getting rid of the shemagh and the Undershirt, and by adding a new Shirt under his Vest (wich will stay). This design will be inspired by Thane Krios' iconical clothes from Mass Effect. If you have any ideas or suggestions let me know! I know that this design is nearly entirely from scratch, and far away from what we know from Mical... It's awesome if you tell me my stuff looks great and you like it, but if you have anything you don't like about this design PLEASE let me know.
