The Romancing of Bastila

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

after a couple of years I wanted to start a new KOTOR run and installed K1R, BSSR and some graphic mods. Additionally, I also wanted to romance Bastila as a f!Revan and after some searching I found this mod that should work with K1R:

https://www.gamefront.com/games/knights-of-the-old-republic/file/the-romancing-of-bastila/

Now I am a little bit confused. After I left the Taris apartments Carth still flirts with my (calling my beauty). Does this mean the mod is not working? I though the mod would make the game think you are a male if playing female so Carth should not flirt with f!Revan. Or am I wrong and the game simple removes gender restrictions so you can flirt with both Carth and Bastila? I could of course test it by rushing through Taris and check if there is the damsel in distress dialog with Bastila but to be honest I don't want to spend a couple of hours just to find out that the mod is not working, find the problem, fix it and have to play the whole Taris part again.

Thanks for your help :)

List all of your mods. Provide links so folks (other than me) can confirm if compatibility is possible or not.

As I said beside K1R (https://www.nexusmods.com/kotor/mods/54) and BSSR (https://www.nexusmods.com/kotor/mods/95) only reskins and texture mods (including Fens - Bastila https://www.nexusmods.com/kotor/mods/1184 and some of his other companion mods). There after I installed "The Romancing of Bastila (https://www.gamefront.com/games/knights-of-the-old-republic/file/the-romancing-of-bastila/)

The simplest way would be if someone who played Kotor with The Romancing of Bastila could share his experience. So I would know if I have to be worried about Carth`s flirting or if this is perfectly normal.

The bastila romance mod doesn't touch the Carth dialogue file, meaning it does not affect what Carth says or does within that file. That mod simply allows you to romance Bastila as well.

So unless you did not unzip/copy & paste into the override (installing it correctly) then you should have nothing to worry about.

However, I would check BOS:SR for the following file "k_hbas_dialog.dlg" since romancing bastila mod requires that file to its modified version of that file. Just to clarify that's Bastila's party member dialogue file, which holds most of your conversations that are only between you and Bastila.

If BOS:SR has that file, then these mods are conflicting and you cannot have both.

Also, if you have any other "companion mods" that affect Bastila you should check for that file within them too, reskins won't have them, but if you have something else that modifies Bastila double check that.

Just an FYI, the mod stops working on the Star Forge. It also makes Bastila do weird... blanks during dialogue.

@jc2: Thanks for your reply. I checktd the files of BOSSR and there seems to be no k_hbas_dialog.dlg. So it should work.

@Jango32:  Are you sure that is not somekind of mod conflict? I have not read anything like that about the Bastila mod.

Yup. It also happened in a Twitch livestream playthrough last month. I knew beforehand that the mod was going to break on the Star Forge because of some old, old comments about it. I think on the old Lucasforums or even the original kotorfiles.

You could always try the cheat console. Just warp to the module where you want to test. It's how I test my end-game mods without playing the whole game.

Of course, this isn't guaranteed to work if there are prerequisite globals that need to be set. But, those globals are documented in various places, and you can get your answer in a few minutes compared to waiting hours for forum responses.
