Allon Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Question: What do you do when multiple mods affect the same file, such as appearance.2da, changes.ini, etc? I am running Kotor II on a Mac, using the GOG version. I am no stranger to using Wineskin, and modding the game. However, I can't remember exactly what I did last time when multiple mods used the same file; the vast majority these use the TSL patcher. Do you just keep on overriding the files? Keep them both? Does the TSL patcher sort it all out? Also, it seems a number of these mods are very similar to other mods (say, a reskin), but some don't have the appearance.2da file, just .tga files to be thrown into the override. What do I need to do? Can most of these mods just leave the .2da and .ini files out and still work fine with the .tga files and such? Thanks for any help! Quote
Kexikus Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 That's exactly what TSLPatcher is for. It will edit the file that's already in your Override instead of just replacing it. Overriding them would cause all the changes from prievously installed mods to be lost and thus break all of those mods. Keeping both won't do anything as TSL will read only the file with the correct name. So usually TSLPatcher should sort this out. If it doesn't, then you either have to skip one of the mods or merge them manually. The latter is of course only possible if the two mods are compatible. And you always need all the files from a mod and you need to have them installed according to the read-me. We don't just throw in a bunch of files that are unnecessary Quote
Allon Posted December 30, 2017 Author Posted December 30, 2017 Thank you very much! I couldn't remember how the heck I did it last time. Quote
Hassat Hunter Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 changes.ini are only used for TSLPatcher to see what needs to be installed, it's not installed itself, and all TSLPatcher mods will have a different one. Never just move all the contents of a TSLPatcher mod into override. Quote
