catagurin 11 Posted February 6, 2011 From where do we know that TOR is going to be released in Spring??? I'm just oppening this topic because TOR is the only thing that I'm thinking about and I can't get it out of my head. The wait is driving me suicidal! In the last 2 months the only things that i've being doing (excluding porn) was watching like a freak the trailers from TOR and playing the KOTORS again again and again! There is only one cure for this, the release of TOR.=)))))
Guest Bob Ta'aar Posted February 8, 2011 They announced it several times for Spring 11. The most recent news is however, that it won't be released in the fiscal year 2011, which ends in March, iirc. So that means it won't be released before April. But as always with games, you probably have to wait a little longer yet than the original announcements . Guest Kaldek Posted February 18, 2011 Yeap! I remember signing up for the beta and wishing like crazy I'd get on it. But no. Gotta wait like the rest of us.
Pazaak 12 Posted February 21, 2011 Since I haven't a good enough PC to run it well anyway, I'm not too ecstatic about the release as a whole. Should my PC be better off come beta time, eh, I'll give it a try I spose.

jd-inflames 2 Posted March 11, 2011 As mentioned, they are leaning towards the beginning of this next fiscal year. Speculation, however, is leaning towards sooner rather than later, and this spring is starting to sound like a more and more relevant release period.
Guest HK-47 Posted June 7, 2011 Observation: Which has happened and it is still not out . Now they're claiming it'll be released late 2011. I hope it is, especially after releasing the intro cinematic.

zbyl2 811 Posted November 12, 2011 Apparently server I'm playing on is scheduled for maintenance... well, NOW, so I've got some time to post my impressions. Although it might be back up by now, I've no idea how long maintenance takes. Never mind. Lets talk about beta. I won't talk about mechanics (all that much) as it's not exactly what I'm interested in, instead I'll focus on plot and other good stuff like that. Without going into too much details though, as I can't exactly give you beta spoilers, as per agreement with Bioware and all that. I haven't gotten into all the KotOR related stuff, so I can't talk about that yet. But I'm still mad at Bioware for what they've done to Revan. Anyway, onto the game now. I'm level 7 Jedi Knight right now and I haven't finished my first planet yet... so how is it? Better than I expected. To be honest, I expected complete garbage and it's not *that* bad. I'm enjoying the prologue so far, sure it's got some cliche characters and some Bioware style dialogs that makes you want to stop playing, but there are some pretty good dialogs too. Nothing amazing, but pretty good. Voice acting is the worst part about it all, though. Only good VO I've seen so far was Satele Shan (same actress as Bastila), other than that they're average or worse. Main character's voice is terrible. BTW, talking of dialogs, there is this one Satele's line I really liked: "The Jedi Code is the source of strength, but the backup never hurts". Jennifer Hale delivered line well enough for me to like it. Next thing, locations. I expected some uninteresting, linear, Mass Effect style environments, but it's better than that (so far anyway). Tython is pretty big and I actually managed to get lost few times already. And the Jedi Temple is rather amazing, I must admit, it's really big and it has the Coruscant's Temple feel we all know from the movies. Respawning enemies in some places are an annoyance though. There was this one place, especially, where one group of enemies would respawn during my fight with another group, which would be too much for me to handle. Fortunately I met this nice Jedi Consular who helped me get trough that part alive. It's a beta though so that's understandable. Overall, it has some strong points, but it also has its weaknesses... some bad dialogs, voice acting and such. I won't be buying a game myself (but that much I knew before I even begun playing). It's slightly better than what I expected, though. Anyway, gonna go back, see if server's back up ;] Any questions you've got, ask, I'll try to answer if I can. zbyl2 811 Posted November 12, 2011 Another server maintenance (you'd think after all this time they wouldn't have to do it twice a day anymore), meaning another random TOR related post from me... I finished my first planet, Tython. While main quest is pretty good (bar some terrible dialog lines and already mentioned bad VOs... and some other parts of it), side quests are terrible. Boring and uninteresting "go there, tell him that, get back here, oh and you could kill that too". Usually it's about stuff NPCs could do themselves, which just makes it worse and even less believably. But Coruscant is bloody fantastic. Well, I still hate how it look exactly the same like it did in the movies, but it's amazing visually and it's cool to walk around... and flying a speeder around these high buildings is just fun to watch. It's just visuals though, other stuff doesn't get any better. And whole city is so big it's kind of overwhelming right now, especially since I've already got like, what, 7 new quests? And I just landed. By the way, Stoney and Tyvokka, what servers are you guys playing on, and what classes? Would be awesome to do some flashpoint with you guys ;P
Hassat Hunter 571 Posted November 13, 2011 Well, some speculate this might be a stress-test. If that makes them require server maintenance to keep up... hmmmmm... Or they may just try to reduce required network data despite the useramount. Or are they actually rolling out patches (doubt it)?

Exactly what this weekends tests(why they added a bunch more "testers") are all about, getting the servers stress tested. It's a shame we only get to play it this weekend, finally starting to get the hang of it.
Tyvokka 198 Posted November 13, 2011 I am on Khoonda Militia server. I am a consular and so far I really like it, the voice acting is kinda silly and at times Biowares writers has completely contradicted other EU stuff but whatever. Overall I am enjoying myself and I will say the enviroment is great and the companions characters are good to. Currently LVL 11 consular.
zbyl2 811 Posted November 13, 2011 Indeed, it's a stress test, but it runs quite smoothly for me. I recall next to no lags, and only time it crashed for me was when I lost internet connection, so it's my fault not game's servers. And they're planning even bigger stress test next week from what I've gathered. The word is they're going to invite everyone who signed up before last Friday. Stoney 1,511 Posted November 13, 2011 Well after playing for a few hours and not being a fan of MMO's(don't like monthly fees to play),I'll have to admit the game doesn't suck it's actually fun. I played SWgalaxies and this is a big improvment over it. The VO's aren't the best and the graphics look a little cartoonish but for the most part the story has been good and the quests are decent. zbyl2 811 Posted November 14, 2011 Not a big fan of MMOs either but all right, I'll admit, I enjoyed last two days of playing TOR almost non-stop... but I'd still say side quest sucked because they were so badly thought out and repetitive. Travelling around Coruscant also used to be fun at first, when I was just watching visuals and thinking "oh that's awesome. that really is Coruscant", but then it got boring because it just takes too long. There's this "fast travel" skill which is handy, but it's got cooldown time of 30 minutes... meaning you can only use it once every 30 minutes. And it has its issues too, but I won't talk about that now. And I think I haven't mentioned LS/DS points yet. That's done pretty badly too. I don't like how you know which answer give you LS/DS points before you choose it. I also disagree bout what they're given for - I mean, getting DS points for stealing data to blackmail senator who wanted to separate Republic and the Jedi, and make peace with the Empire instead? Yet telling on two Jedi who are in love, and thus getting them probably kicked out of the Order (can't say for sure, choose another option) is LS? And there are some other arguably cases here, but I think those were enough of spoilers as it is... I'm not exactly supposed to talk about it.
