high5 18 Posted April 12, 2017 For some reason these 2 mods always fail to install via TSL patcher for me so I can manually install BOSSR but cannot install both mods, is there a workaround for this issue? Like linking the 2da with manual install instructions or does K1R have to be installed via TSL patcher? I'm aware this will be a hassle to solve one user’s problem so feel free to politely say "sod off"
superSzym 155 Posted April 12, 2017 Change every "/" in BoS:SR's changes.ini except date and "N/A" near the top of the text (in the first or second section) into "\". This should fix your issues with BoS:SR installation. I've got no idea about K1R though, maybe you should try redownloading and reunpacking the file. That doesn't help me with this but it's a useful bit of info. Nah I've tried download and install a few times I forget what error I was getting I'll have to check, but it was from fresh install as instructed. had a look through trouble shooting threads but just seems the mod gods say nay. ndix UR 218 Posted April 12, 2017 FWIW, the issue I had with BoS:SR was that TSLPatcher was trying to write to nested directories without creating them (for backup purposes). I don't remember what I had to do exactly, but it was something like ... in the bos_sr_1.0 installation folder, create 'backup' folder manually, create a 'modules' folder inside of that. But then also create a 'modules' folder in the main installation directory. My assumption is that TSLPatcher copies files temporarily to the main installation directory (maybe to patch them?), then moves them into backup/ on success. In this case it is trying to copy a file like "modules/ship2.mod" without recognizing that the path actually includes a sub-folder. At least that was my theory. K1R I've never had issues with. Sith Holocron 2,478 Posted April 13, 2017 I thought Fair Strides worked on doing something with the latest BOS release. He's someone that should probably comment on this.
Fair Strides 509 Posted April 13, 2017 The info posted by both superSyzm and ndix UR are both valid things to consider. ndix UR's info is something that I believe has cropped up from Windows Vista onwards with the extra security compared to Windows XP. You can also try running the TSL Patcher as an Admin to see if it can get around that. I tried fixing a similar thing with ERFEdit (which was written in the same language as TSL Patcher and likely uses the same library, but I wasn't particularly successful. I can try again this weekend. That being said, if high5 can get me the exact error messages he was receiving, that'd be helpful, since TSL Patcher has quite a few... As to the BoS:SR itself, I had been intending on waiting for some files before I re-did the installer from mostly scratch, but that doesn't seem to be happening any time soon. Instead, I will work on re-doing the installer in my free time, but it will most likely be uploaded in 100MB segments like the current version is, because my internet sucks and there will be many do-overs. Lastly, I've also never had issues with the K1R installer, so I'm very curious.
