Guest Gatherum Posted September 23, 2012 The line that Kreia speaks stating that Revan ordered the destruction of Telos was one of many lines cut from The Sith Lords. Though no official source has confirmed this, it being cut content and all, it is suspected that said line was one of a minority of cuts intentionally made in order to preserve existing canon information, and not due to time constraints as most cuts were. Canonically, Saul Karath bombed Telos under direct order from Malak, not Revan. Take a look.
Sith Holocron 2,479 Posted September 23, 2012 Both Drew Karpyshyn and Chris Avellone are on Twitter. I will ask them.
Kerk 12 Posted September 23, 2012 This is one of those points of inconsistency between the two games. It is established in KOTOR that Malak attacked Telos. And in KOTOR 2 they try to change it to Revan.
Hassat Hunter 571 Posted September 23, 2012 They wrote KOTOR2 before KOTOR1 was done. So it might have been a restant of not knowing that specific detail. On the other hand, Kreia says it. So it fits wheter it's true or not. Is it? Is it not? No one knows... except for Kreia and Revan of course. (and the line was pretty vital considering the HK-Factory reference. So they definitely intended it as Revan killing Telos to hide the Factory.)
Sith Holocron 2,479 Posted September 25, 2012 Well . . . we at least have to KOTOR1 answer. This direct from my tweet to Drew Karpyshyn. It looks like he went with the "safe" answer. Before you shoot him down . . . at least he answered though. Now all we have to do is wait for Chris Avellone's answer.
JK JA's Jaden Korr 30 Posted September 25, 2012 I think you need to change what to wait SH.
Darth Hayze 19 Posted September 28, 2012 He did mention though that it might be mentioned later on, so there is that...
105491689125 3 Posted October 1, 2012 Here's my theory: Darth Revan, after finding the Star Forge, knows the Jedi have a refuge built on Telos, and he wants it destroyed as a signal to the Jedi that there will be no place to hide in the Jedi Civil War (as per Kreia's cut line in TSL). He intends a strategic strike against against the hidden Jedi Academy to make his point. However, he tells this to Malak, who instead performs a full bombardment of Telos. The point of this theory is that it makes Kreia's cut line true, but still retains the point in K1 that Malak bombarded Telos, not Revan. Thus, Carth should not direct his anger at Revan. Which is what I feel is necessary in the plot. After the bombardment, but well before KotOR1, Revan then has the HK factory built in the ruins of Telos. As Kreia points out, much can be hidden in a graveyard, which was probably Revan's thinking (which Kreia would understand well as his former master). And bear in mind that Revan had the HK factory made and the HK-50 units produced, but never activated. That seems to have been G0T0, who probably discovered the factory while he was the chief admin droid at Citadel Station.
tpiom 6 Posted February 7, 2013 Well . . . we at least have to KOTOR1 answer. This direct from my tweet to Drew Karpyshyn. It looks like he went with the "safe" answer. Before you shoot him down . . . at least he answered though. Now all we have to do is wait for Chris Avellone's answer. You should have played the games against him. Canderous clearly states that it was Malak's doing... He even interrupts Carth as he blames Revan for it. In KotOR II, however, Kreia talks about Revan's orders. There's an official answer... assuming both are canon. The question is which one is right, though.
