GeneralStrife 6 Posted February 8, 2012 I know it took forever to make the lean animation that is being used in TSLRCM. But what about all the epic animations that were only in kotor1? Is there no way to import/use those in the 2nd one? It's the same game engine and all that good stuff. Is it just impossible? Revan's crossed DS arms during the dodonna transmission, malak's epic lightning hands in the air in that one cutscene. Are these confined to K1? Sith Holocron 2,471 Posted February 8, 2012 It's the same game engine and all that good stuff. Is it just impossible? I think it's less a matter of difficulty and more of a matter of porting. If the animations don't exist in both games, things from KotOR won't be utilized in TSLRCM. It would be on the order of someone asking to take the maps from KotOR (like the Kashyyyk world map, for an example) and making those available in TSL. LucasArts doesn't look kindly on porting, I'm afraid.
VarsityPuppet 1,085 Posted February 8, 2012 I think it's less a matter of difficulty and more of a matter of porting. The other aspect is tedium. Making animations from scratch is a lengthy process, especially if they're as complicated as human motion.
Hunters Run 57 Posted February 12, 2012 The other aspect is tedium. Making animations from scratch is a lengthy process, especially if they're as complicated as human motion. Lets see....animations from a kinect attached to a pc then imported into motion builder or similar, tweaked then imported into 3ds max to export.Tedious? Perhaps, but fun all the same. Plus realistic looking animations won't take forever anymore. Possible? who knows, but If I ever get my hand on the equipment I would try it out. How would you use one of those to animate? It's not very good at pin-pointing specific points to make accurate animation bones.

I am just throwing out ideas. To rephrase use a mocap device to get animations then.....But these things cost money and sometimes manpower. Kinect seemed to be a cheap alternative. If it doesn't work it doesn't work.
