    Trying to create an alpha layer so I can get a slight shine effect for the star forge robes using photoshop, but I'm having difficulty. Anybody who uses photoshop have any advice?

      In regards to creating an alpha, you don't need to duplicate. In the channels tab just click on the "create new channel" button down the bottom (next to the trash bin icon) and it will create an alpha channel.
