Yes i managed to do it but its better the vanilla way sometimes.

a zip or rar file containing all the files would be appreciated

You can do it the simple way, but unfortunately, it won't work.

What are these files responsible for?

The .mdl and .mdx files 
They are the 3d models the edited mesh so its head is now round and smooth.

Only n_darthmalak.mdl and n_darthmalak.mdx are responsible for this.

No there are 3 models of malak
the normal one
CInematic one
Jawless one

Technicly 4 the jedi malek one too but he is not included.
