Sith Holocron 2,473 Posted September 25, 2018 Where does the texture "MGF_hawklyt01" show up in KotOR1? Here it is for reference purposes.
DarthParametric 3,777 Posted September 25, 2018 The only models in either game that reference it are MGF_carthturret and MGF_turlights (the former comprising the majority of the turret window and surrounds, the latter being some additional computer panels), both in K1. Both would appear to be part of the turrent minigame, but I see no reference to them in any layout. Looking at mgf_ebonhawk.lyt, it only references MGF_turretcam. I would guess MGF stands for something like "Mini-Game Fighters".

Yes, bit of addition to DarthParametric's; It seems MGF_xx refers to the textures used in-and-around the Gun-turret and it supposed to be part of it; as it was shown inside the turret's model: mgf_carthturret\Geometry\(mesh) Plane03\Mesh\MGF_hawklyt01. But as seen in the screenshot there wasn't any appearance of it: Spoiler Edit: The sphere where we sitting at is the mgf_carthturret model which MGF_hawklyt01 supposed to have its appearance somewhere. I am sorry I can't locate where it should be. Edit2: Ooops, swapped reference in the screenshot. Fixed! So, an unused texture perhaps? Anyways, amazing findings with the MGF_xx, SH. There are lots of treasure inside the MGF and MGG section there! Edited September 25, 2018 by ebmar Fixed swapped reference in the screenshot
DarthParametric 3,777 Posted September 25, 2018 It's either covered over with a different set of panels, or they use a completely different model instead. Spoiler From what I can tell, the turret module the game uses is M12AB, which uses models M12ab_MGT01 through to M12ab_MGT07. All of these models only contain a "modelhook", no geometry of their own. They also have animations, so I gather that is how they handle the enemy fighters. Hook them on to the dummies and then remove them when the game registers a hit with the turret. I guess the turret geometry itself must also be loaded this way, but there are no references in the layout or models themselves.
Sith Holocron 2,473 Posted September 25, 2018 Oh well. I guess I didn't need to work on this texture after all. At least it didn't take long and it was finished before I heard the news. Thanks for the info anyway, eb and DP!

It could be something in-game, really. If someone could work on restoring the lost-and-forgotten panel, maybe? 😁 Quote Thanks for the info anyway, eb and DP! My pleasure!
