Guest Posted February 21, 2018 So after watching Harmy's despecialized editions, I have to say. Basically I was considering something, I think partially some of the changes GL made were somewhat positive; Essentially I think it would be perfect if we could get them on Blu-ray with all the changes made up to Disney's buyout. Apart from these; ANH: Original take lines should be present, not replacements in rereleases. Obi-Wan's Krayt Dragon scream should be the 2004 version. CGI rocks. The additional CGI Dewbacks. The background ones in "Look Sir Droids" should stay, all others should go. The Ronto and extended Mos Eisley with the speeder passing through the street. "Han shot first." Scene. Jabba & Boba Fett in SW scene. The blaster impacts on the Imperial Officers' chests should not be censored. TESB: Luke's line; You're lucky you don't taste very good. Should be restored. Boba Fett should be Jason Wingreen. Lando should only say "Attention" once. ROTJ: "Jedi Rocks" Goodbye you awful CG monstrosities. The Original Sarlacc Pit rather than the new one, the CGI beak looks bad. Han should say; "It's alright, trust me." Instead of "I can see a lot better." Original Sebastian Shaw head. When the mask is removed. Victory Celebration should stay but no Gungan "We'sa free!" No Hayden Christenson. No "No!" From Vader. I'd rather have this happy medium than either the original films or the special editions but we'll probably never get that, officially.

He does a lot of these types of changes although I'm not sure on some of the specifics. He has A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back released so far. As someone who enjoys the prequels, I've softened to the inclusion of Hayden Christensen's appearance, although they should at least make him look older
Guest Posted February 21, 2018 Well, I've seen his versions but he's added new effects and sounds, and in some cases new music. Which I really, really don't like. My proposal would be to keep the original performances and performers as intact as possible while including the miscellaneous sound and visual effects upgrades George Lucas approved, which don't change the pace of the film, or add blatant new CGI creatures or change the designs of creatures already present. I haven't found that the effects are too distracting, in fact some are so minor I'd hardly notice if I hadn't read the list. The only piece of changed music I noticed was the Battle of the Heroes playing during Vader and Obi-Wan's duel, which I did find out of place at first, but I quite like now. His general philosophy is to update poor matte paintings, fix visual inconsistencies, but especially in A New Hope, he added the hologram screen during the Death Star attack. Also plenty more TIE fighters during that battle. I think the Empire Strikes Back is more grounded, I think the only major CGI change he made was changing the Emperor's appearance so it looks more like ROTJ emperor than ROTS emperor. Everything else I think was extensive matte repainting, and creating miniatures to increase the fidelity of the shots. But I digress... I am generally in favor of the CGI changes, but boy oh boy do they need another update. Unless I'm missing something, they're still using the renders from the 2004 DVDs, right? Our technology and lighting technology has gotten a lot better, could do with a redo

Mutilator57 140 Posted February 21, 2018 I quite like Adywan's changes, particularly to ANH. The additions to the Battle of Yavin were masterful IMO; the only thing that was missing was the final shot of Tarkin right before the Death Star explodes.
