Skeet1983 1 Posted August 31, 2016 I recently reinstalled Kotor 2 (4 CD Version) on my Windows 10 laptop. I did the following in this order: - Installed base game - Installed 1.0b Patch - Installed RCM 1.8.5 - Widescreen Patcher (Squizzy WS Patcher) I have been noticing some flickering when in the in-game Menu. I am not sure what is causing it and thought I should post about it here since I have RCM installed. My laptop has 2 Nvidia GeForce GTX 870Ms with 6GB each and is currently in SLI mode with latest Game Ready Driver (372.70). Thoughts and help GREATLY appreciated on this
Revanator 60 Posted September 1, 2016 This is a periodical problem I have as well. I don't have a solid solution yet, but if you change the screen background quickly it will usually be a temporary fix. For example, if it's flickering ingame, tap escape to bring up the menu, wait a sec, close it and it should be fine for a while. I have no idea what causes this and I can't find anything on it. My best guess is it's a widescreen issue.
Skeet1983 1 Posted September 1, 2016 It happens in the menu, not during gameplay. I have the 4CD version installed. If I switch to the Steam Version, would it still happen there? I read that the Steam Version supports widescreen natively. Also if I switch to Steam verson, can I still use the following? - TSL RCM - Hak_Pad Mod - Cheats (Add EnableCheats line to ini file) Thoughts and help appreciated
Revanator 60 Posted September 1, 2016 I have the Steam version, so yes, it'll still happen. You can use all those mods and many, many more with Steam.
Skeet1983 1 Posted September 1, 2016 Does the KSE Kotor 1 and 2 Save Editor work with the Steam Version of Kotor 2?
Revanator 60 Posted September 1, 2016 Sure does. You'll be hard-pressed to find a mod of modding tool that works with something else and not the Steam version. If anything, the Steam version is the easiest. I highly recommend you avoid the Steam Workshop however; good for 1 or 2 mods, but anything beyond that and it'll give you trouble. Use the override. Skeet1983 1 Posted September 1, 2016 Ok, thanks How and where can I get the following Mods for Steam Version? - TSL RCM - Hak_Pad Mod Also, is it safe to edit the ini file to enable cheats in Steam Version of Kotor 2? Thoughts appreciated
Fair Strides 509 Posted September 1, 2016 That's what the guy is saying: Mods aren't version-specific. The mods you find on this site work with all versions of the games.
Revanator 60 Posted September 1, 2016 Exactly. And yes, it's perfectly safe to edit the .ini file.
Malkior 476 Posted September 1, 2016 It could also be a graphics issue with your GPU. Have you been able to play the base game (Vanilla) without these problems?
Skeet1983 1 Posted September 1, 2016 Ok, thanks guys I am confused about how to get and install the following mods for Steam version: - TSL RCM - Hak_Pad Do I get them through Steam Workshop? Skeet1983 1 Posted September 1, 2016 It could also be a graphics issue with your GPU. Have you been able to play the base game (Vanilla) without these problems? I don't know, it has started happening recently... Hasent always happened
Revanator 60 Posted September 1, 2016 Ok, thanks guys I am confused about how to get and install the following mods for Steam version: - TSL RCM - Hak_Pad Do I get them through Steam Workshop? How do I install them for Steam Version? Help appreciated The same way you did it for your 4CD version except the game folder is under: Program Files (x86)<Steam<steamapps<common<swkotor OR Knights of the Old Republic II (depending on which game it is). Download TSLRCM 1.8.5 from this site, run the installer, point it to the game folder. With the Steam update TSL got a couple years ago, the base installation will create the override folder and there will already be some files in there, even before TSLRCM. After that, just install any and all other mods you have into the override folder. However, if you get a mod with an installer or one that uses TSLPatcher, make sure to point it to the base game directory (swkotor or Knights of the Old Republic II) NOT the override. For mods with just files to copy, drop them into the override folder. Avoid the Steam Workshop. It'll work fine for the first couple mods you have, but to keep your options open and to ensure that your game runs smoothly, use the downloads from this site instead. Skeet1983 1 Posted September 1, 2016 Ok, thanks again Is the Hak Pad Mod easy to install to Steam Version? When I installed that mod to the 4CD Version, it just installed files when I clicked Install button, it didn't give me a choice where to install the files... Thoughts/help appreciated on this
Revanator 60 Posted September 1, 2016 Should be just as easy. Download it, run the installer, and there should be an option for you to change the install path, even if it tries to auto-detect it first.
