Rinku 22 Posted December 2, 2015 Hey! I was thinking, since we have suggestion threads on: music, youtube channels, games, etc. Why not have one for TV shows! ------------------------------------- Guidelines: So basically what I was thinking is everyone can list a show they are either watching or have watched. This isn't limited just to stuff on actual television, the show can be a websereies, a netflix/amazon original, or something else too. It can be any genere, and you can post whenever you find a new show you like! Personally, I would love if everyone also provided a super breif (non-spoiler) description of the show's premise, a (non-spoiler) picture from the show, and how you recommend watching said show - ie. Is it a show you can binge? Or should you only watch 1/2/3 episodes a day. Should I watch it with a group? Or alone. I think that's about it on my guidelines. If you have suggestions on anything to add I will edit this section ------------------------------------- I'll start us out with one of the shows I'm watching (don't have time to do more than one at the moment). Name: Magi: The Kingdom of Magic Genere: Anime - Fantasy, Action, AdventureRecomended Viewing Method: You can binge this show (imo), but I generally stop the binge when the arc calms down action/story wise. So far this has been every 6 or so episodes (if recall correctly).Description: An anime set in a world inspired by our ancient world (Arabia, Ancient China, etc). The story primarily follows the adventures of two characters, Alibaba and Aladin, as they travel the world trying to defeat towers know as dungeons (which hold infinite riches for those who conquer them) that began appearing randomly about 15 years ago. Eauxps I. Fourgott 81 Posted December 2, 2015 Well, I don't watch much TV, but there's two shows I do watch a lot, of the competition variety: Name: The Amazing Race Genre: Reality Competition Basic Premise: Teams (usually 11 teams of two) race each other around the world, following clues to go to all sorts of locations along the way. In the various locations, they also have to perform various tasks -- an element of the show that is much more pronounced now than it was in the early years. The race is divided into several legs, with most ending with one team being eliminated, but the first team to finish the final leg wins one million dollars. Recommended Viewing Method: I never watch more than two or three episodes in one sitting myself. There are 26 complete seasons with 11-13 episodes each, with the 27th now wrapping up. I personally consider the earlier seasons to be much better than the latest ones especially. Name: Survivor Genre: Reality Competition (again) Basic Premise: 16 to 20 people are left in a remote location, usually an island or somewhere near the water. They are tasked to survive for 39 days using the various resources that are given to them -- although this aspect of the show has faded considerably over the years. Every couple of days, though, they have to vote somebody out of the game, and so considerable strategy takes place in this respect. At the end of the game, a jury made of voted-out players decides the winner from the final two or three. Recommended Watching Method: I can never take more than two episodes of this in a row, but I also do considerable strategic analysis, so that helps bog down my brain. Each season has around 14 episodes, and 30 seasons have been finished, with the 31st in progress.
high5 18 Posted December 2, 2015 I don't watch much either but here's some shows I'm enjoying at the moment. They're all currently airing Name: One Punch ManGenre: AnimeBasic Premise: well it's kind of self explanatory, about a super hero that can takeout just about anyone in one hit.. Its not just him, there are loads of heroes/villains like DC or Marvel but hilariously funny. The humor really sells the show for me, if you like light hearted anime It's the best I've seen in some time. Name: The Detectorists Genre: Comedy just not so much LOLBasic Premise: Two friends searching for treasure with their metal detectors. It's kind of a slow show with subtle British humor, mostly they find bits of rubbish and sit in fields but its more about the personalities of the characters and the struggles of their metal detecting club fighting turf wars with a rivaling club or simply gathering and being socially awkward together. Name: Limitless Genre: Drama/ComedyBasic Premise: Based on a film with the same name, Brian wastes his life to find himself at 27 years old with nothing to show when he tries a drug which unlocks his brains full potential until eventually killing the user, which he finds out a little later. Eventually the police catch up with him and after having some experience with users, they realize that he isn't experiencing the fatal side effects.. so they decide to supply him with the drug and have a genius working for them. It's nothing new but it's done well.
TheDarkChocolateJedi 17 Posted December 9, 2015 Name: Dragon Ball Z Genre: Anime Basic Premise: It is the sequel series to the original series Dragon Ball, which is based off of a 16th century chinese novel called Journey To The West, both series' are quite long, spanning more than a few hundred episodes, it'll keep you on your toes with crazy martial arts fighting, HUGE energy attacks, lots of villains and heroes. Plenty of heartfelt moments aswell, the show itself is incredibly impressive (Watch Dragon Ball then Dragon Ball Z, then possibly Dragon Ball GT, but GT is not canon). Warning: It can be fairly gory and gritty, with crazy fighting, lots of death, plenty of foul language aswell, it is still a masterpiece to behold nonetheless. Recommended viewing method: By yourself, with friends, it doesn't matter, i watched most of it by myself, and i found it more enjoyable that way, because a lot of people tend to judge the show because of the amount of somewhat unnecessary drama, aswell as lots of screaming and "Final attempts" at taking down the badguy, i'd watch it by myself though.
