Filefront down for good?

Recommended Posts

I was looking to make the rounds again on filefront, namely kotorfiles and jk3files, and I noticed that I can't get on to any of them. I've googled "filefront shutting down" and etc however have not come up with any results that seem to resemble awareness of other people on this. I know filefront has dozens of games that have download centers on there and I find it hard to believe that in a matter of weeks it could entirely disappear. Anyone notice this?

Can't get to either of these :\

Filefront is gone, go to Gamefront.com, most of the mods are still up on that site

I've never done this in my life I actually signed up for a site out of pure emotion and sadness I only signed up because these are the people I feel at home with. I grew up with this game and I loved it so much I first had it with a Xbox console but I wanted to get into modding because it was cool so I learned how to download files and I used it for a while ( It was hard at first) and now to see it leave I am really sad but I am happy most of the files are at gamefront I just want to tell you all even if you are Anonymous who ever is reading I love you all... :/

Hello guys and girls,

This is A_L_I_E_N from filefront

I too signed up with this website out of great sadness with the shut down.

I am not sure anyone remembers me, I used to be prominent person on PotD on both JA and Kotor subpages, most notably uploading awesome pics and notably dead Rosh Penin.

Sometimes visited the website out of nostalgia.

End of an era :((

Well I may be a bit late to the party, but I just got back into replaying the kotor games again when I sadly discovered that Filefront has been taken down.

So is this it then? Will this site be gone for good now? Because I know this isn't the first time that this site has apparently been permanently shutdown.  And what of all the mods that seemed to be exclusively hosted there? I can't find half of my favorite mods anymore, is there any alternative site that I'm not aware of that may have these? Ive tried looking for them on Gamefront as suggested in another thread, but it seems most of the ones I used are just gone...

Honestly this really sucks and I'm not sure what to do. Ive replayed these games so many times over the years, using so many of the same mods that seemed to only be available on Filefront :/.

You can find most of the kotor mods hosted on Filefront at: http://www.gamefront.com/files/listing/gamingfiles/Knights_of_the_Old_Republic/

and most of the kotor 2 mods at: http://www.gamefront.com/files/listing/pub2/Star_Wars_Knights_of_the_Old_Republic_II_The_Sith_Lords

Gamefront is where most of the Filefront's mods were stored and all Filefront downloads went through gamefront. Most of the content isn't lost, just Filefront

You can also use archive.org to view the old mod descriptions. Archive.org is a site that allows you to view previous versions of a website, including non-existant ones

Quite a few Filefront mods have been transplanted here (with permission by the original authors) and many have been re-posted elsewhere (some with permission, some without). There is an extensive discussion on the topic of re-posting mods that aren't your own here on deadlystream: http://deadlystream.com/forum/topic/3421-why-its-not-okay-to-upload-someone-elses-mods/

Hope that answers everything.

Damn, a lot of great mods now disappeared. First Xfire, now Filefront. I use both sites for years. Strange feeling :P

Thank you so much Insanity and Miles, you've both helped me out immensely. Due to your posts, I managed to find downloads for pretty much all of the mods I wanted for my playthrough :D.
