ohnochuck 0 Posted March 16, 2015 Anyone's willingness to make it aside, is there any chance of a mod that one could take in or out of the override or a TSLpatcher that could be run at the start of a play-through that would govern whether Vash would be dead on Korriban or not being possible? I ended up enjoying M4-78 but not to the extent that I would want to have to replay it any time I wanted to play through this game. On the other hand, I would like to revisit it, so it's not worth uninstalling the whole game to get rid of it. It seems bizarre to me that this would be a technical impossibility given the kinds of things that can be changed just by the presence of a .dlg or whatever in the override. I guess M4-78 might have overwritten the scripts for what happens in the vanilla? But it seems like whatever was overwritten could be extracted from a vanilla install. zbyl2 811 Posted March 21, 2015 To be honest, after Korriban you could just add +1 to the global that counts found Jedi Masters and you'd never have to go to M4-78. I don't remember how we set it up, but it's possible that if you just switch all 702KOR files in modules with TSLRCM ones, you won't trigger M4-78. I'm not 100% sure about it, though, someone would have to go through the game and test it
VarsityPuppet 1,085 Posted March 21, 2015 It would be better to add in an option in the game that makes sense within the context of the game. Maybe a dialog option to decline the quest when it's presented. Somewhere along the dialog flow to just say "She's in all likelihood, dead" as opposed to "She's got to be alive somewhere. Let's go look!"
Dark Jaguar 0 Posted March 29, 2015 Hmm, perhaps there should be a quest related option that determines if she lives or dies? Since it seems (in the normal version) that she is killed while you are at the planet, perhaps there might be something the player can do to give her an opportunity to escape? I'm thinking some sort of computer hack to cause a distraction in the needed area (with low skill check so as many player builds as possible can do this). If you miss that chance, she doesn't get the opportunity to escape and the game proceeds just like the original. If she does get that chance, the game proceeds with the restored content path. It would also push this a bit towards being able to simply embed this whole project into the main restoration project instead of as separate installs. However, there would be challenges in rewriting the first part of this story so that she gets captured here and also escapes. What do you think? Since it seems (in the normal version) that she is killed while you are at the planet, perhaps there might be something the player can do to give her an opportunity to escape? Vash can be saved - but only if you do something very specific with the rest of the same. (The other Jedi Masters must be dead before visiting the Rebuilt Jedi Academy.) It would also push this a bit towards being able to simply embed this whole project into the main restoration project instead of as separate installs. However, there would be challenges in rewriting the first part of this story so that she gets captured here and also escapes. What do you think? One of the main reasons that the mod doesn't have the word "restoration" in the title was that a large portion of the actual plot had to be constructed to actually complete the plot so the mod was actually playable. M4-78 EP is a fan-fiction thing. As such, it was always intended to be an optional download.
Dark Jaguar 0 Posted March 29, 2015 I never knew that! I'll have to keep that in mind. Heck, since she can be saved "normally", I've got far fewer misgivings over leaving such an option in the game.
